Tianqiao station

The Beijing Museum of Natural History (BMNH; Chinese: 北京自然博物馆) is located at 126 Tian Qiao Nan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, 100050, and is the most popular natural history museum in China. It was founded in 1951 as the National Central Museum of Natural History, and its name was changed to the Beijing Museum of Natural History in 1962. The BMNH is the first large scale natural history museum created in China.The BMNH has total floor space of 24,000 square meters, of which 8,000 square meters are available for display and owns more than 200,000 specimens. The major display area is the Tian Jiabing Building. The collections include paleontology, ornithology, mammals and invertebrates, and include a major collection of dinosaur fossils and mounted skeletons. The BMNH also engages in significant scientific research in these areas.

Temple of Agriculture (simplified Chinese: 先农坛; traditional Chinese: 先農壇; pinyin: xiān nóng tán) or Altar of Agriculture is a historic site in Xuanwu District of Beijing, China, and located near the Temple of Heaven.

Xiannongtan Stadium (Simplified Chinese: 先农坛体育场) is a multi-use stadium in Beijing, China. It is located in Dongcheng District and is named after Xiannongtan, the Altar of Agriculture, located nearby. This stadium was built in 1936 and was named Beiping Public Stadium (Simplified Chinese: 北平公共体育场). It was renovated between November 1986 to September 1988. The stadium has a capacity of 24,000 and it is used mainly for football matches.

Yongdingmen (simplified Chinese: 永定门; traditional Chinese: 永定門; pinyin: Yǒngdìngmén), literally meaning “Gate of Perpetual Peace”, was the former front gate of the outer city of Beijing's old city wall. Originally built in 1553 during Ming Dynasty, it was torn down in the 1950s to make way for the new road system in Beijing. In 2005, the Yongdingmen was reconstructed at the site of the old city gate. This new gate is disconnected from the original road leading towards the gate and into the city (see photograph below). During the Boxer Rebellion, on 11 June 1900, the secretary of the Japanese legation, Sugiyama Akira (杉山 彬), was attacked and killed by the Muslim soldiers of General Dong Fuxiang near Yongdingmen, who were guarding the southern part of the Beijing walled city.

The Ji Xiaolan Residence is located at No. 241 West Main Street at Zhushikou in Beijing, China. It was originally the residence of Yue Zhongqi (岳鍾琪), (a descendant of Yue Fei), the Minister of War (兵部尚書) and Governor-General of Shanxi and Gansu provinces during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor in the Qing dynasty. Ji Yun (Ji Xiaolan) lived at this address for two periods of his life: from the age of 11 to 39, and again from the age of 48 to 82. Yuewei Cottage (Chinese: 阅微草堂; pinyin: yùewēicǎotáng) is a nickname for the residence given by Ji Xiaolan himself. He wrote Fantastic Tales By Ji Xiaolan (The Shadow Book of Ji Yun, Empress Wu Books, 2021) at this residence. In volume 15, Lend An Ear to Something Without Taking It Seriously, he wrote: "Hufang bridge used to be the residence of Weixing Gong (Yue Zhongqi). There is a stone, about seven or eight feet in height, lying in the east of the site. It is said that the stone was a gift from the Yongzheng Emperor when he began to construct the house. It was transported from Tuer mountain. It holds pride of place among all the Taihu stones in Nancheng, hence I am called The Old Man of the Lonely Stone." The original Taihu stones of Yuewei Cottage were sent back to Tuer Mountain, in Yingtai, Zhongnanhai.

Hufangqiao Station (simplified Chinese: 虎坊桥站; traditional Chinese: 虎坊橋站; pinyin: Hǔfāngqiáo Zhàn) is a station on Line 7 of the Beijing Subway. It was opened on December 28, 2014 as a part of the stretch between Beijing West railway station and Jiaohuachang and is located between Caishikou and Zhushikou.

Zhushikou station (Chinese: 珠市口站; pinyin: Zhūshìkǒu zhàn) is an interchange station on Line 7 and Line 8 of the Beijing Subway. The Line 7 station was opened on December 28, 2014. The Line 8 station was opened on December 30, 2018. This station served as the temporary northern terminus of the south section of line 8 until December 31, 2021, when both north and south sections of Line 8 were connected.

Tiantan Subdistrict (Chinese: 天坛街道; pinyin: Tiāntán Jiēdào) is a subdistrict on the southwest side of the Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. As of 2020, it has a population of 27,429.The subdistrict was named after Temple of Heaven, an imperial religious complex that is located in this area.

The Circular Mound Altar (圜丘坛 huán qiū tán) is an outdoor empty circular platform on three levels of marble stones, located in Beijing, China. It is part of the Temple of Heaven. It was constructed in 1530, during the 9th year of the Jiajing Emperor's reign in the Ming dynasty, and enlarged in 1749 (the 14th year of the Qianlong Emperor's reign in the Qing dynasty). The round terrace was first covered with deep blue glazed slabs surrounded with a white marble balustrade when it was expanded. It has a circular perimeter of 534m and a height of 5.2m This altar was also built for religious purposes, especially for ceremonies to pray for rain by the emperor in times of drought. During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1911 AD), the emperors would offer sacrifices to Heaven on the day of the Winter Solstice every year. Sacrificial animals and other offerings were burned here to ensure good harvests. A common animal slaughtered here was the bull, which the people would set on fire as a sacrifice of prosperity. This ceremony was to thank Heaven and pray that everything would be good in the future.

The Temple of Heaven (traditional Chinese: 天壇; simplified Chinese: 天坛; pinyin: Tiāntán) is a complex of imperial religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. The Temple of Heaven was inscribed as a World Heritage site in 1998 and was described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world's great civilizations..." as the "symbolic layout and design of the Temple of Heaven had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries."

Yongdingmenwai station (simplified Chinese: 永定门外站; traditional Chinese: 永定門外站; pinyin: Yǒngdìngménwài zhàn) is an interchange station on Line 8 and Line 14 of the Beijing Subway. The Line 14 station was opened on December 26, 2015. The Line 8 station was opened on December 30, 2018.

Liulichang (simplified Chinese: 琉璃厂; traditional Chinese: 琉璃廠; pinyin: Liúlíchǎng) is a district in downtown Beijing that is known for a series of traditional Chinese stone dwellings selling various craftwork, artistry, and antiques. It is one of Beijing's traditional old quarters.
