Egleston station

WBCA-LP (102.9 FM) is a low power radio station (LPFM) in Boston, Massachusetts. The station operates as a partnership of the Boston Neighborhood Network and the city of Boston.

The Egleston Substation is a historic electrical substation building located at 3025 Washington Street in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, just north of Egleston Square. The brick Renaissance Revival building was constructed in 1909 by the Boston Elevated Railway (a predecessor to today's MBTA) during the extension of the Washington Street Elevated to Forest Hills.The building is 87 feet (27 m) long, 52 feet (16 m) wide, and 46 feet (14 m) high. Its most prominent feature is the massive archway that frames the main entrance on Washington Street. The building was designed by Robert S. Peabody of Peabody and Stearns. The building was use by the Boston Elevated and its successors to provide AC to DC conversion for streetcars and elevated trains until 1987, at which time it was one of the oldest such substations in the nation. The building was essentially abandoned and fell into disrepair, with its roof in failure in 2005. It was then acquired by local nonprofits, who have converted it for use as office and television studio space.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Boston Neighborhood Network (BNN) is a public, educational, and government access (PEG) broadcasting service serving Boston, Massachusetts. BNN's programming is broadcast on two channels: News & Information, Comcast channel 9 and RCN Cable channel 15 Community Access, Comcast channel 23 and RCN channel 83BNN members have access to two television studios, digital field production and editing equipment, a multimedia lab, and a mobile production truck, as well as hands-on media training classes. BNN also operates WBCA-LP radio.

The Walnut Park Historic District is a historic district encompassing a cluster of multifamily brick buildings in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Roughly centered on the junction of Walnut Park and Waldren Road, the area was developed in the early 20th century during a major Jewish migration, and includes a fine sample of Colonial Revival architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.

The Home for Aged Couples is a group of three historic buildings at 409 and 419 Walnut Ave. and 2055 Columbus Avenue in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The building at 409 Walnut Avenue has been boarded up and is partially demolished. The Classical Revival buildings were designed by John A. Fox and Coolidge, Shepley, Bulfinch and Abbott and constructed between 1892 and 1927. Around the time of the construction of the Badger Building in 1927, brick connectors were constructed between all three buildings; these have since been demolished. The buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Since 1999 Rogerson Communities (founded in 1860 as the Home for Aged Men) has taken the lead in fundraising to redevelop the property.

The Dimock Community Health Center Complex is a historic medical complex at 41 and 55 Dimock Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The center's Zakrzewska Building was built in the Stick style of architecture in 1872, designed by Charles Amos Cummings and Willard T. Sears as the New England Hospital for Women and Children. This facility was the first in New England and the second in the United States to be run by female doctors. Contemporary renovations were completed by James A. Fox and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. In 1991 the complex was declared a National Historic Landmark (as "New England Hospital for Women and Children"; the National Register listing is for "Dimock Community Health Center Complex"). The Dimock Center is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. It focuses on three core program areas: Healthcare, Behavioral Health Services and Youth & Family Services. From the center's historic nine-acre campus located in the Egleston Square section of Roxbury, MA, and several satellite locations, The Dimock Center provides access to high-quality healthcare and human services that include: Adult & Pediatric Primary Care, Women's Healthcare, Eye and Dental Care, HIV/AIDS Specialty Care, Outpatient Mental Health services, Residential Programs, The Mary Eliza Mahoney House shelter for families, pre-school, Head Start programs, after-school programs and Adult Basic Education & Workforce Training programs. The Dimock Center has been recognized nationally as a model for the delivery of integrated care in an urban community.

The New England Hospital for Women and Children was founded by Marie Zakrzewska on July 1, 1862. The Hospitals goal was to provide patients with competent female physicians, educate women in the study of medicine and train nurses to care for the sick. Until 1951 the hospital remained dedicated to women, it was then renamed to New England Hospital to include male patients. The hospital was renamed again to The Dimock Community Health Center in 1969. At present The Dimock Community Health Center provides a range of healthcare services including Adult & Pediatric Primary Care, Women's Healthcare and HIV/AIDS Specialty Care.

The Boston Beer Company is an American brewery founded in 1984 by James "Jim" Koch and Rhonda Kallman. Boston Beer Company's first brand of beer was named Samuel Adams after Founding Father Samuel Adams, an American revolutionary patriot. Since its founding, Boston Beer has started several other brands, and in 2019 completed a merger with Dogfish Head Brewery. The Boston Beer Company is the fourth largest brewer in the United States with products available throughout the United States and internationally.

Keshet (Hebrew: קשת, romanized: keshet, lit. 'rainbow') is a national grassroots organization with offices in Boston, New York, and the San Francisco Bay Area that works for the full equality and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Jews in Jewish life. Led and supported by LGBTQ Jews and straight allies, Keshet offers resources, training, and technical assistance to create inclusive Jewish communities nationwide. Keshet produced the documentary Hineini: Coming Out in a Jewish High School and companion curriculum. On June 18, 2010, it was announced that Jewish Mosaic: The National Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, another American Jewish LGBT organization, would merge with Keshet, with the post-merger organization retaining the name "Keshet". The merger was aided through a grant from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation. Jewish Mosaic was included in the 2005 and 2006 editions of "Slingshot," a guide to 50 "of the most creative and effective Jewish organizations" in America.

Abbotsford, now the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, is a historic house at 300 Walnut Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The museum is dedicated to black visual arts heritage worldwide, and presents historical and contemporary exhibitions in many media, including painting, sculpture, graphics, photography and decorative arts. The museum is operated by the National Center of Afro-American Artists.

The Haffenreffer Brewery, established in 1870, was a former brewer in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. The first Haffenreffer bottles were plate mold bottles and were produced by Karl Hutter of New York and had the traditional lightning stop tops. According to Haffenreffer company records later in 1876 the Haffenreffer Brewery contracted with Dean Foster and Company of Boston to aid in the production of bottles for the brewery and the growing demand. Starting in 1893, all Haffenreffer bottles were produced with Karl Hutter stoppers. Haffenreffer Private Stock, a legacy of the original Haffenreffer & Co. product line, is a brand of malt liquor that ceased production in 2013. It had several nicknames: "The Green Monster", (referring to the left field wall at Fenway Park), "Haffenwrecker" and "The Green Death" all due to relatively high alcohol content. It was notable due to the Rebus puzzles under the bottle cap and due to the label recommendation of consuming it "on the rocks" or over ice.

Stony Brook station is a rapid transit station in Boston, Massachusetts. It serves the MBTA Orange Line and is located below grade at Boylston Street in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood. The station opened on May 4, 1987, as part of the Southwest Corridor project, replacing an earlier station that was open from 1897 to 1940.
