The Museo di Storia Naturale is the Natural History museum located Via Scalabrini 107 in Piacenza, Italy. The museum was established in a former abbatoir or Macello. The area also houses the Polo Territoriale di Piacenza del Politecnico di Milano or the branch of the Milanese public scientific-technological university. The local branch is focused on technology useful for architectural design, including model building.

Piacenza (Italian: [pjaˈtʃɛntsa] ; Piacentino: Piaṡëinsa [pi.aˈzəi̯sɐ]; Latin: Placentia) is a city and comune (municipality) in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy, and the capital of the eponymous province. As of 2022, Piacenza is the ninth largest city in the region by population, with more than 102,000 inhabitants.Westernmost major city of the region of Emilia-Romagna, it has strong relations with Lombardy, with which it borders, and in particular with Milan. It was defined by Leonardo da Vinci as a "Land of passage" in his Codex Atlanticus, by virtue of its crucial geographical location. This strategic location would influence the history of Piacenza significantly at several times. Piacenza integrates characteristics of the nearby Ligurian and Piedmontese territories added to a prevalent Lombard influence, favored by communications with the nearby metropolis, which attenuate its Emilian footprint.Piacenza is located at a major crossroads at the intersection of Route E35/A1 between Bologna and Milan, and Route E70/A21 between Brescia and Turin. Piacenza is also at the confluence of the Trebbia, draining the northern Apennine Mountains, and the River Po, draining to the east. Piacenza hosts two universities, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Polytechnic University of Milan and University of Parma.

San Carlo is a Baroque style, Roman Catholic church and monastery, located in Piacenza, Italy. The church was dedicated to San Carlo Borromeo. The church was built in 17th-century and the adjacent building became a convent for a Capuchin order of nuns. The nuns were expelled in 1810, but in the late 19th century, the church passed to the missionary order established by the former bishop of the town, Giovanni Battista Scalabrini (died 1905). The church and the monastery were reconstructed in the second half of the twentieth century, altering the two cloisters.The church contains a venerated statue of the Child Jesus originally from the Church of San Gervasio.

The Basilica of San Savino is an ancient Roman Catholic basilica in the city of Piacenza in the Province of Piacenza, Italy. It is dedicated to Saint Sabinus of Piacenza, second bishop of the city. San Savino was established as a Benedictine monastery in 903. The original construction appears to have been poor. In February 998, Pope Gregory V confirmed its right to freely elect its abbots. It was rebuilt outside the city walls by Bishop Sigifredo in 1005. The present structure is mostly a rebuild of 1107 with later modifications, although it includes a few elements from the 903 edifice. The crypt of the church has 12th-century mosaics depicting the zodiac signs on a marine background. The presbytery has a contemporary mosaic showing battle scenes and a depiction of Christ. In the 1500s, the church became property of the Hieronymite order, who reconstructed it. In the 18th century, the church interior was decorated in a Rococo style, hiding much of the original Romanesque details. In 1721, the present facade was built. Among the works of art in the church is a wooden crucifix and frescos from the 12th century and a 15th-century fresco in the presbytery depicting an Enthroned Madonna and child.In 1819, the hospice for "orphans and the exposed" (Ospizio degli Orfani ed Esposti) with 60 children was moved to the Girolamini monastery attached to San Savino. The hospice had been founded in 1573 by the then bishop, and run by the Somaschi order of clerics regular. They were affiliated with the parish church of San Stefano. The orphanage had been housed in the convent of Sant'Anna.

The Battle of Placentia was fought in 271 between a Roman army led by Emperor Aurelian and the Juthungi tribe, near modern Piacenza.

The city Piacenza has a population of 102,269, as of 2015. The provincial president is Patrizia Barbieri and it contains 48 comuni (SG: comune). The province dates back to its founding by the Romans in 218 BCE.

Santa Maria in Torricella is a Roman Catholic church, located in Piacenza, Italy. The church was built in 1514 to house an icon of the Virgin in a chapel at the site. This church was used to provide religious consolation to those condemned to death (the scaffold was near the square). This service was provided by the Capuchins order, established in the church by Bishop Burali to take the role from the Confraternity of San Giovanni. The first church was enlarged in the mid-seventeenth century . The church has a canvas of a Beato Paolo Burali by Gaspare Landi, a Crucifixon by Robert de Longe, and a St Disma by Giuseppe Gherardi.

Piacenza Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Piacenza), fully the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Giustina, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Piacenza, Italy. The current structure was built between 1122 and 1233 and is one of the most valuable examples of a Romanesque cathedral in northern Italy. The dedication is to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and to Saint Justina. It is the seat of the diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio.

Piacenza railway station (Italian: Stazione di Piacenza) serves the city and comune of Piacenza, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. Opened in 1859, it forms part of the Milan–Bologna railway, and is also a terminus of two other railways, the principal line to Alessandria and the secondary line to Cremona. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.
