Cynon Valley

Cynon Valley (Welsh: Cwm Cynon) is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of eight constituencies in the South Wales Central electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole.

Cynon Valley (Welsh: Cwm Cynon) is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Beth Winter of the Labour Party.The Cynon Valley Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999 (as an Assembly constituency).

Ferndale (Welsh: Glynrhedynog) is a town and community located in the Rhondda Valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Neighbouring villages are Blaenllechau, Maerdy and Tylorstown. Ferndale was industrialised in the mid-19th century. The first coal mine shaft was sunk in 1857 and was the first community to be intensively industrialised in the Rhondda Valley.

Ystrad Rhondda railway station is a railway station serving Ystrad in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. Alphabetically, it is the last station in the UK with the first being Abbey Wood station in southeast London.

Ferndale Colliery was a series of nine coal mines, located close to the village of Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales.

Ystrad (also known as Ystrad Rhondda or Ystrad-Rhondda) is a village and community (and electoral ward) in the Rhondda Fawr valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.

Nebo, Ystrad Rhondda was the first Baptist chapel in the Rhondda Valleys. Founded in 1786, and known as Ynysfach, its first minister was one Thomas Edwards. The name was changed to Nebo in the early part of the nineteenth century. Nebo was the mother church to numerous other chapels in the valley including Hebron, Ton Pentre in 1868, and Noddfa, Treorchy which subsequently became much larger than Nebo in terms of membership. With the industrialisation of the valley it was rebuilt and extended in 1857 and again in 1876. Its membership peaked at 318 in 1905, in the immediate aftermath of the Welsh Revival. By 1940 the membership had fallen to 132, with a further sharp decline to 62 by 1945. Garfield Eynon became Nebo's last minister in 1953 and the church was without a minister after his departure in 1962. Nebo closed in the early 1980s and the chapel was subsequently demolished. A short portion of the boundary wall and fence remains in situ.Some housing was later built adjacent to the site, which was named Nebo Estate.

Ferndale railway station served the Welsh mining community of Ferndale between 1876 and 1964.

Blaenllechau is a small village located in the Rhondda Fach valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Neighbouring villages are Ferndale, Maerdy and Tylorstown. The population of Blaenllechau is less than 1000.

Craig Pont Rhondda is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Llwynypia, Rhondda, south Wales. The Countryside Council for Wales states that the site has been categorised as a Site of Special Interest because it "...is the largest remaining broadleaved woodland in the valley of the Rhondda Fawr. The dominant tree is Sessile Oak, some stands of which have been coppiced in the past. Other trees include ash, birch, and hazel, with stands of alder in the wetter places."

Rhondda Cynon Taf (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈr̥ɔnða ˈkənɔn ˈtaːv], RCT) is a county borough in the south-east of Wales. It consists of five valleys: the Rhondda Fawr, Rhondda Fach, Cynon, Taff (Welsh: Taf) and Ely valleys, plus a number of towns and villages away from the valleys. Results from the 2011 census showed 19.1% of its 234,410 residents self-identified as having some ability in the use of the Welsh language. The county borough borders Merthyr Tydfil County Borough and Caerphilly County Borough to the east, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan to the south, Bridgend County Borough and Neath Port Talbot to the west and Powys to the north. Its principal towns are - Aberdare, Llantrisant with Talbot Green and Pontypridd, with other key settlements/towns being - Maerdy, Ferndale, Hirwaun, Llanharan, Mountain Ash, Porth, Tonypandy, Tonyrefail and Treorchy. The most populous town in Rhondda Cynon Taf is Aberdare (Welsh: Aberdâr) with a population of 39,550 (2011), followed by Pontypridd with 32,694 (2011). The National Eisteddfod will be held at Rhondda Cynon Taf in 2024, postponed twice from 2022.

Gelli is a village in the Rhondda Fawr valley, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales, situated on the southern bank of the Rhondda Fawr River. Gelli is a former coal mining village which is a district of the community of Ystrad.
