Serralves is a cultural institution located in Porto, Portugal, and one of the most important institutions worldwide, ranking in the list of most-visited art museums in the world. It includes a Contemporary Art Museum, a Park and a Villa, each one an example of contemporary architecture, Modernism, and Art Deco architecture. The Museum, designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira, is now the second most visited museum in Portugal (almost 1 million visitors per year) and one of the most relevant in the contemporary art circuit in Europe.

Lordelo do Ouro e Massarelos is a civil parish in the municipality of Porto, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Lordelo do Ouro and Massarelos. The population in 2011 was 29,059, in an area of 5.59 km².

In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Lordelo do Ouro e Massarelos. The population in 2011 was 22,270, in an area of 3.64 km². It overlooks the Douro river. Local landmarks include the São Martinho de Lordelo Church, the Serralves park and modern art museum, along with other modern architecture buildings. The church is very important to the local inhabitants and services are still held there.

Foz do Douro (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈfɔʒ ðu ˈðowɾu]; meaning "Mouth of the Douro") is a former civil parish in the municipality of Porto, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Aldoar, Foz do Douro e Nevogilde. The population in 2011 was 10,997, in an area of 1.88 km². It became a parish in 1836. It is located in the western part of Porto, next to the mouth of the Douro river and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most affluent areas of city Porto, and known for being inhabited by the upper classes.

The Lighthouse of São Miguel-o-Anjo (Portuguese: Farol de São Miguel-o-Anjo) is a former hermitage and 16th century lighthouse, in the civil parish of Aldoar, Foz do Douro e Nevogilde, municipality of Porto, in the Portuguese Norte Region. The lighthouse of São Miguel-o-Anjo is Portugal's oldest existing lighthouse and one of the oldest in Europe. Designed by Italian architect Francesco da Cremona, the project was completed in 1538.

The Fort São João Baptista da Foz (Forte de São João Baptista da Foz in Portuguese), is located in the parish of Foz do Douro, in the municipality and District of Porto, in Portugal. It stands in a dominant position at the mouth of the Douro river, overseeing the access the city of Porto via the river.

The Douro (UK: , US: , Portuguese: [ˈdo(w)ɾu]; Spanish: Duero [ˈdweɾo]; Latin: Durius) is the highest-flow river of the Iberian Peninsula. It rises near Duruelo de la Sierra in Soria Province, central Spain, meanders south briefly then flows generally west through the north-west part of central Spain and into northern Portugal, to its mouth at Porto, the second largest city of Portugal. At its mouth it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The river is notable for the scenic Douro railway line, tourism more generally and – relatedly – the creation and production of port – a mildly fortified wine –, grapes, conventional wines and other agricultural produce. A small tributary of the river has the Côa Valley Paleolithic Art site which is considered important to the archaeological pre-historic patrimony, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within Spain, it flows through the middle of the autonomous community of Castile and León, with the basin spanning through the northern half of the Meseta Central. The latter includes wine producing areas such as the Ribera del Duero DOP.
