Colfax is a small unincorporated community located in Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. It is located in the western part of the county. The population in 2010 was 4,136.The community is a suburb of Greensboro and High Point and is located in the center of the Piedmont Triad. Its main attraction is the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market, where people shop for fresh food from local farmers. Its main school is Colfax Elementary, which is part of the Guilford County School System. It is also the location of one of fifteen Piano and Organ Distributors, one of the largest piano sellers in the country. In 2000, the community attempted to incorporate, but failed after a joint commission found that the proposed limits were not sufficient for incorporation under North Carolina law, lacking under the population density requirement. On June 30, 2008 the city of Greensboro annexed the main part of Colfax into the city limits and in 2010 the City of High Point annexed Southern portions of the area, though some of Colfax is still unincorporated.

Shaw-Cude House is a historic home located near Colfax, Guilford County, North Carolina. It consists of two principal sections: a single-pen, 1+1⁄2-story log structure with an exterior end chimney, probably erected between 1790 and 1800; and the larger 2+1⁄2-story block, of brick construction, probably built about 1809. The house incorporates Late Georgian and Greek Revival style design elements and embodies stylistic elements of Quaker architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Guilford Mill, also known as the Old Mill of Guilford and Bailes' Old Mill, is a historic grist mill located near Oak Ridge, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built in 1822, and is a plain three-story, heavy timber frame building on a fieldstone foundation. It has a gable roof and one-story, shed roofed addition built of fieldstone. The grist mill is powered by an overshot wheel.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Oak Ridge is 15 miles (24 km) northwest of the center of Greensboro, North Carolina's third-most populous city. Oak Ridge is a part of the Piedmont Triad urban area.

Kernersville Depot is a historic train station located at Kernersville, Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was built by the Northwestern North Carolina Railroad in 1873. It is a plain one-story, mortise-and-tenon gable roofed building sheathed in board-and-batten siding in the Late Victorian style. It served as a depot until a new station was built in 1901. After that, it provided storage for the railroad and later for a farm and feed business.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

First Baptist Church, is a historic Baptist church located at 401 Oakhurst Street in Kernersville, Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was built in 1915–1916, and is a two-story cross-gabled brick building, with Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival style design elements. It has a cross-gable roof, three-stage corner entrance tower, and retains original furnishings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

It was built in 1926, and is a utilitarian brick building with a two-story front section and a tall one-story rear section. The building previously featured "STUART MOTOR COMPANY" in Art Deco lettering.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Oak Ridge Military Academy (ORMA) is a college-preparatory military school in northwestern Guilford County, North Carolina. The school is the third oldest military academy in the United States and the first military boarding school to admit girls. The academy is located in the town of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Oak Ridge was created in 1852 by locals who wanted to encourage education in Guilford County. The school was closed during the Civil War for four years, reopening in 1866. From 1875 to 1914, the school was led by J. Allen Holt and Martin Holt, two professors at the academy. During that period it became one of the best in North Carolina. In 1914, leadership was transferred to Thomas E. Whittaker. The same year, a fire destroyed several buildings. In 1981, the name of the school was changed to Oak Ridge Military Academy. The campus contains 21 buildings. Notable structures include Alumni Hall and Benbow Hall. Oak Ridge offers extracurriculars that mainly focus on physical activity and military strategy. During the 2019–2020 school year, Oak Ridge had 50 students enrolled. The academy offers 11 honors and 3 AP (Advanced Placement) courses.

South Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Kernersville, Forsyth County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 53 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 2 contributing objects in Kernersville. They include residential and commercial buildings built between about 1834 and 1930 in a variety of popular architectural styles including Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style. Located in the district is the separately listed Korner's Folly. Other notable buildings include Spears House (c. 1834), Dr. Elias Kerner House (1857), Elias Kerner Huff House (1880), Greenfield and Kerner Tobacco Factory (1884), (former) Bank of Kernersville (1903), DeWitt Harmon's Office (c. 1928), Kernersville Moravian Church (1922), and Main Street United Methodist Church (1924/25).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
