Rainkopf

The Rothenbachkopf is a mountain, 1,315 metres high, in the High Vosges in France. Only a few metres to the west of the summit runs the Route des Crêtes heading south from the Col de la Schlucht. Several Vosges Club hiking trails run over the top. A few kilometres north of the Rothenbachkopfs the border between Alsace and Lorraine turns and heads southwest. The summit ridge is used as a cross-country ski course for the crossing of the Vosges mountains. Great care is recommended in winter because of the cornices, the possible fog and the violent and icy winds that can occur. On 28 December 1965, two inexperienced young German hikers, became lost in the fog and cold and died on the Rothenbachkopf.

The Batteriekopf is a peak in the Vosges Mountains, reaching an altitude of 1,311 meters. This mountain borders the Route des Crêtes and is located immediately south of the Rothenbachkopf, spanning the municipalities of Wildenstein and Metzeral.

The Vosges ( VOHZH, French: [voʒ] ; German: Vogesen [voˈɡeːzn̩] ; Franconian and Alemannic German: Vogese) are a range of medium mountains in Eastern France, near its border with Germany. Together with the Palatine Forest to the north on the German side of the border, they form a single geomorphological unit and low mountain range of around 8,000 km2 (3,100 sq mi) in area. It runs in a north-northeast direction from the Burgundian Gate (the Belfort–Ronchamp–Lure line) to the Börrstadt Basin (the Winnweiler–Börrstadt–Göllheim line), and forms the western boundary of the Upper Rhine Plain. The Grand Ballon is the highest peak at 1,424 m (4,672 ft), followed by the Storkenkopf (1,366 m, 4,482 ft), and the Hohneck (1,364 m, 4,475 ft).

The Kastelberg is the fourth highest summit of the Vosges Mountains. It is located on the former border between the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine.

Fischboedle is a shallow lake in Haut-Rhin, France, in the commune of Metzeral. At an elevation of 794 m, it has a surface area of 0.0005 km². The depth of the lake varies but it is estimated that it is no deeper than 4 m (2.2 fathoms; 13 ft). It is the smallest lake in the Vosges mountains.

Lac de Retournemer is a lake in Xonrupt, Vosges, France. At an elevation of 776 m, its surface area is 0.05 km2. It has an area of 5 hectares, or about 12.3 acres.

The Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park (French: Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges) is a protected area of woodland, pasture, wetland, farmland and historical sites in the regions of Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in northeastern France. The area was officially designated as a regional natural park in 1989. 187 communes belonging to the departments of Haut-Rhin, Vosges, Haute-Saône and Territoire de Belfort are members of the park, which hosts 238,000 inhabitants. It is one of the largest and most populated French regional parks. A wide range of habitats available in the park benefit a variety of wildlife such as boreal owl, lynx, peregrine falcon, western capercaillie, Dianthus superbus, cranberry and Drosera.

Lac de Lispach is a lake in the commune of La Bresse, Vosges department, France. At an elevation of 909 m in the Vosges mountains, its surface area is 0.12 km².
