Boyana

The Boyana Church (Bulgarian: Боянска църква, Boyanska tsărkva) is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in the Boyana quarter. In 1979, the building was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The east wing of the two-storey church was originally constructed in the late 10th or early 11th century, then the central wing was added in the 13th century under the Second Bulgarian Empire, the whole building being finished with a further expansion to the west in the middle of the 19th century. A total of 89 scenes with 240 human images are depicted on the walls of the church.

Boyana Lake is an artificial lake in Vitosha mountain near the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia. It is located 1.5 km Southeast from Sofia's Boyana neighborhood. Initially the boyana lake was a pond. It was later transformed into a lake with the establishment of the Vitosha aqueduct over Sofia in 1906. In the Vitosha lake you can find true toads from the family Bufonidae, true frogs from the family Ranidae, and Northern crested newts, a type of Salamandridae. The lake has an area of approximately 2000 square meters, and is located at 1027 meters altitude above sea level.

Vitosha (Bulgarian: Витоша [ˈvitoʃɐ]) is one of the 24 districts of Sofia, situated in the southern parts of the City on the foot of the Vitosha mountain. As of 2006 it has 42,953 inhabitants. The district includes 7 neighbourhoods: Boyana; Simeonovo; Dragalevtsi; Pavlovo; Buxton; Manastirski Livadi and Knyazhevo as well as two villages Vladaya and Marchaevo. It is among the richest and greenest districts in Sofia and Bulgaria with many beautiful residences, houses, villas and residential complexes.

Bistrishko Branishte (Bulgarian: Бистришко бранище) is a nature reserve in the Vitosha Nature Park on Vitosha Mountain in Bulgaria. It was established in 1934, together with Vitosha Nature Park. Since 1977 it has been a biosphere reserve under the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme of UNESCO. The reserve comprises the eastern slopes of the peaks of Golyam Rezen (2277 m), Malak Rezen (2191 m) and Skoparnik (2226 m), the northern slopes of Golyam Kupen Peak (1930 m), the upper valleys of Vitoshka Bistritsa and Yanchevska rivers. Its surface area is 1061.6 ha, the elevation is between 1430 and 2277 m. Over 50 % of its territory is covered by forest (predominantly spruce), 100 to 120 years old on the average. There are several stone runs in the Subalpine zone, penetrating the forest. The larger animals found in the reserve include deer, boar, wolf, bear. Bistrishko Branishte attracts many tourists from the adjacent Aleko Centre situated off the northwestern border of the reserve. Visitors are not permitted to stray away from the few designated tracks linking the Vitosha's highest peak of Cherni Vrah, Aleko area, Bistritsa village (3 tracks running via Pogledets site and along Bistritsa and Yanchevska rivers), Zheleznitsa village.

Pavlovo (Bulgarian: Павлово) is a southern neighbourhood of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Part of the Vitosha municipality, it borders Buxton Neighbourhood to the northeast, Tsar Boris III Boulevard to the northwest, the Sofia ringroad (in this section known as the Nikola Petkov Boulevard) to the south and the Buxton Boulevard to the east. Pavlovo features mostly low - to mid-rise residential architecture, with houses and small blocks of flats dominating the skyline. The 5th Primary School and the 157th High School César Vallejo serve the neighbourhood.

Boyana Waterfall is the largest waterfall in the Bulgarian Vitosha mountain, with a height of 25 meters.

Buxton (Bulgarian: Бъкстон Bakston, pronounced [ˈbɤkstɔn]) is a south-western neighbourhood of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Part of Vitosha municipality, it lies between the Buxton Brothers (Bratya Buxton) Boulevard, the Tsar Boris III Boulevard and the Sofia ringroad adjacent to Boyana.The neighbourhood was named after the brothers Charles and Noel Buxton, British public figures and prominent advocates of the Bulgarian position on the Macedonian Question in the Balkan Wars and World War I. The central boulevard of the neighbourhood is also named after the brothers. Buxton features mostly single-family houses and mid- to high-rise residential architecture from the 60s–80s. It is serviced by Secondary School #2 Academician Emiliyan Stanev, Primary School #5 Ivan Vazov and Secondary Specialized School and Kindergarten for Hearing-impaired Children #2. The Vitosha municipality building is also located in the neighbourhood, and there is a Fantastico supermarket in Buxton.

Buxton Brothers Boulevard (Bulgarian: Булевард Братя Бъкстон, Bulevard Bratya Bakston) is a boulevard in south-western Sofia, Bulgaria. It connects Tsar Boris III Boulevard with the ring road. It is still paved with setts. The neighbourhoods located along Buxton Boulevard, listed in a north to south order, include Buxton, Pavlovo on the western side of the boulevard and Manastirski Livadi West on the eastern side. The boulevard is named after Charles and Noel Buxton brothers.

Vitosha Mountain TV Tower, better known as Kopitoto (Bulgarian: Копитото, "The Hoof") after the rock outcrop (1,348 m or 4,423 ft) it stands on, is a 186-metre (610 ft) tall TV tower built of reinforced concrete on Vitosha Mountain near Sofia, Bulgaria. The footprint of the tower has the shape of a hexagon with three of the sides extended (i.e. almost triangular). From the tower there is a commanding view of Sofia, and the tower can be seen from everywhere in Sofia, making it a landmark of Sofia's skyline. It is the second tallest television tower in Bulgaria.

Nu Boyana Film Studios (Bulgarian: Ню Бояна Филм) are film studios situated in Sofia, Bulgaria. The film production complex was opened in 1962 and was state owned until 2005 when it was bought by one of the longest-running independent film companies in Hollywood, Nu Image and Millennium Films. With an approximate area of 30 hectares (75 acres), the complex features 10 sound stages and various standing sets – New York, London, Middle Eastern street, St Paul's Cathedral and a big ancient set, complete with a Roman colosseum.Boyana Film was the main location for film production during the communist regime when Bulgarian cinema was at its peak.

Knyazhevo (Bulgarian: Княжево) is a neighbourhood in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. Administratively, it is part of the Vitosha District of Stolichna Municipality in the southwestern part of the Sofia City Province.

Bulgaria Mall is a shopping mall in Sofia, Bulgaria. It opened on December 1, 2012. It's retailers include both international and Bulgarian brands. The shopping center is positioned at the intersection of Bulgaria Boulevard and Todor Kableshkov boulevard, two major roads in Sofia. The mall was developed as a part of a mixed-use retail and office project, with approximately 130,000 m² of total built-up area (33,000 m² for the commercial area). The shopping center includes four underground levels (parking and a hypermarket of approx. 5,600 m²) and four above ground levels with retail and entertainment. The parking facility can accommodate approximately 1,100 parking spaces. The office portion of the development, which consists of an office high-rise tower and an office building, contains 25,000 m² of area to let. The mall has one of the biggest skylights in Central and Eastern Europe. The owners of Bulgaria Mall are Myles Summerfield and Nikola Yanakiev.
