University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine

The University of Texas–Pan American (UTPA) was a public university in Edinburg, Texas. Founded in 1927, it was a component institution of the University of Texas System. The university served the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas with baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. The Carnegie Foundation classified UTPA as a "doctoral research university". From the institution's founding until it was merged into the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), it grew from 200 students to over 20,000, making UTPA the 10th-largest university in Texas. The majority of these students were natives of the Rio Grande Valley. UTPA also operated an Upper Level Studies Center in Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas. On August 15, 2014, Dr. Havidan Rodriguez was appointed interim President of UTPA, the institution's final leader. In 2015, UTRGV entered into operation following the merger of UTPA and UT–Brownsville, founded as an extension of then-Pan American University at Texas Southmost College. UTRGV also created a new medical school.On August 31, 2015, UTPA formally ceased operations to yield to the newly formed university, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

UTRGV Fieldhouse (formerly UTPA Fieldhouse until the 2015 merger that created UTRGV) is a 2,500-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. It was built in 1969 for one of UTRGV's predecessor institutions, Pan American University, which later became the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA), and is home to the UTRGV Vaqueros men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the Vaqueros women's volleyball team. The Fieldhouse is also used extensively by the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Located on the far east end of the campus, the UTRGV Fieldhouse is among the oldest Division I arenas in Texas. While capacity is officially listed at 2,500, a record crowd of 5,649 jammed the Fieldhouse in 1981 to see the Vaqueros' predecessors, Coach Bill White's Pan American University Broncos battle Pat Foster's Lamar Cardinals.

UTRGV Baseball Stadium, originally Edinburg Stadium, is a stadium in Edinburg, Texas. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the UTRGV Vaqueros of college baseball. It was also the home to the Edinburg Roadrunners of the Texas–Louisiana League/Central Baseball League/United League Baseball. The Roadrunners disbanded before the 2014 season. The stadium, which opened in 2001, holds 4,000 people, expandable to 14,000-16,000 for concerts and other special events. It includes a 17.8' x 13.6' diamondvision scoreboard and luxury boxes. In 2015, the stadium received major upgrades due to the school officially becoming the owner. New rails and padding for the dugouts were added. The "double wall" fence was cut down to make the park more hitter-friendly. Currently, the stadium is getting repainted, locker rooms receiving new graphics and carpet, and a brand-new scoreboard donated by Coca-Cola will be placed just before the home opener.The stadium, formerly owned by the City of Edinburg in years prior to 2014, was donated to the University of Texas System. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley operates the stadium. It was renamed in 2016.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a public research university with multiple campus throughout the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas. It is the southernmost member of the University of Texas System. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 after the consolidation of the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College and the University of Texas–Pan American.In the fall of 2019 the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley enrolled 29,619 students, making it the ninth-largest university in the state of Texas and the fourth largest (student enrollment) academic institution in the University of Texas system. In 2018, UTRGV was also one of the largest universities in the U.S. to have a majority Hispanic student population; 89.2% of its students are Hispanic, virtually all of them Mexican Americans.It is classified in 2020 among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".

South Texas ISD World Scholars is one of STISD's four magnet high schools serving students in grades 9-12 from Cameron, Hidalgo & Willacy Counties, and is located in Edinburg, Texas. World Scholars is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program campus, with over 50 courses to choose from. Students are not only eligible to graduate with an international diploma, but also eligible for free college/university credit opportunities + an associates degree.

South Texas Preparatory Academy, also known as 'STPA', is part of the South Texas Independent School District, in Edinburg, Texas, United States. STPA is a tuition-free magnet junior high school for students in a three-county area along the Texas-Mexico border (Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron). The school was founded in 2008 as South Texas Preparatory Academy. It previously shared the name South Texas BETA with its neighboring South Texas Business Education & Technology Academy from 2003–2008, and before that it was named the Teacher Academy of South Texas. In 2008 the South Texas ISD School Board decided to split up the Jr. High and High School, which are now independently their own name, STPA and BETA, respectively. STPA serves 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, after leaving STPA, students choose to go to one of four high schools in the STISD district; South Texas ISD World Scholars, The Science Academy of South Texas, South Texas High School for Health Professions, and South Texas ISD Medical Professions. It has also been recognized as a blue ribbon school in the 2015–2016 academic school year.

Edinburg ( ED-in-burg) is a city in and the county seat of Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 100,243 at the 2020 census, and in 2022, its estimated population was 104,294, making it the second-largest city in Hidalgo County, and the third-largest city in the larger Rio Grande Valley region. Edinburg is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. Edinburg is home to the main campus of University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

The Museum of South Texas History is located in Edinburg, Texas. It features exhibits on the history of the Rio Grande Valley, as well as the rest of South Texas and North Eastern Mexican States Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas. The Museum, which opened in 1970 as the Hidalgo County Historical Museum, was originally housed in Hidalgo County's Old Jail; a Texas National Landmark, dating to 1910. The Museum has since expanded to include three buildings in the town square. Exhibits primarily focus on local history from prehistoric times to the 20th century.The collections include a prehistoric mosasaur and an ice age mammoth. There are exhibits on the Coahuiltecan Indians, the Spanish exploration and colonization, the Mexican-American War, the U.S Civil War, the Steamboat era, and the Cattle Kingdom. In November of 2007, an exhibit of the "Citrus Era" and the turmoil of the Mexican Revolution was added along with recent area history. The Margaret H. McAllen Memorial Archives house the Valley's largest collection of historical photographs, plus documents and maps, available for research.The Museum Store offers South Texas history books and memorabilia of the Rio Grande Valley.

KURV (710 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Edinburg, Texas, and serving the Rio Grande Valley border area. It broadcasts a talk radio format and is owned by Grupo Multimedios, through licensee Leading Media Group Corp. The studios and offices are on North Jackson Road in McAllen.By day, KURV is powered at 1,000 watts. At night it slightly reduces power to 910 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times, with a three-tower array at night. The transmitter is off Rogers Road at Business U.S. Route 281 in Edinburg.

Edinburg North High School (commonly ENHS, Edinburg North, or North) is a public secondary school in Edinburg, Texas, United States, serving students in grades 9–12. The school is part of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, with admission based primarily on the locations of students' homes. ENHS' mascot is the common Cougar, and their colors are navy and gold. The school serves, in addition to northern Edinburg, the census-designated places of Faysville, Hargill, and Linn, as well as the rural parts of far northern Hidalgo County. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV)'s Edinburg campus is also zoned into ENHS. District expansion circa 2010 has added a performing arts center to each of ECISD's high schools (all completed November 2010), including at Edinburg North.

Robert Vela High School (RVHS) is a public high school in the district of Edinburg, Texas (United States). It is named after a former coach from Edinburg High, the late Roberto Vela. The school was established in 2012 and is located on Canton Road in Edinburg. Their mascot is the Mighty SaberCat with the colors of blue, black, and silver. It was formerly Edinburg High School, home to The Bobcats before it changed and became Robert Vela High School. Students enrolled in Robert Vela High School have made numerous accounts on Instagram, one of the most popular being The rvhs.sleeping.page, as part of a trend from TikTok. Such accounts vary though many have been hacked from spam accounts promoting Bitcoin. In addition to sections of Edinburg, a small portion of Lopezville is zoned to RVHS.

H-E-B Park is a soccer-specific stadium in Edinburg, Texas. It served as the home of Rio Grande Valley FC Toros of the USL Championship, the second level of the US/Canadian professional soccer pyramid. The stadium has two stands with orange seats covered with a roof and a capacity of 9,735. The stadium was originally intended to be complete before the 2016 USL season. Toros played C.F. Monterrey from Mexico on March 22, 2017, to inaugurate their new stadium. The Toros lost their exhibition match against Rayados 3–0 before a sellout crowd.In October 2023, it was announced that UTRGV would play most of their college football home games in the stadium, beginning with their exhibition season in 2024.
