Port of Osaka

The Osaka-Lake Biwa Marathon (大阪マラソン, Osaka Marathon) is an annual marathon road running event for elite and non-elite men and non-elite women over the classic distance of 42.195 kilometres which is held in late October in the city of Osaka, Japan. There is also a "challenge run" with a distance of 8.8km. In 2019 edition of the race, a new race course was introduced where it starts near to and finishes at the Osaka Castle Park. The event is jointly hosted by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese national newspaper. The first edition took place on October 30, 2011. In total, 27161 runners started the marathon race and of these 26175 finished the full distance.The 2020 edition of the race was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.In 2022, an organisational change by JAAF meant the race was merged into the Lake Biwa Marathon. The elite men's race is now the Lake Biwa Marathon.

The Osaka Auto Messe (大阪オートメッセ) is an annual auto show that is held at Intex Osaka in Osaka, Japan since 1997. It focuses on modified car and car after parts. It is one of the biggest auto shows in Japan. Usually, it is held for 3 days on a weekend on the middle of February. More than 200,000 people attend it almost every session. In an ordinary year, most of the famous car makers, parts makers and tuners bring their latest demo-cars to the exhibit.

INTEX Osaka (インテックス大阪, Intekkusu Ōsaka), officially known as International Exhibition Center, Osaka (大阪国際見本市会場, Ōsaka kokusai mihon-ichi kaijō), is a convention and exhibition center in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The center is located on the Business Creation and Information Transmission Zone of Cosmosquare District in Sakishima Island, a planned business exchange and trading district in Osaka Bay area. With 72,978 square meters of exhibition area, the venue ranks third in the nation, behind Tokyo Big Sight and Makuhari Messe in terms of total exhibition space. The abbreviation "INTEX" stands for "INTernational EXhibition center."

The Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building (大阪府咲洲庁舎, Ōsaka fu Sakishima chōsha) or Cosmo Tower (コスモタワー, Kosumo Tawā) is the second tallest building in Osaka and the third tallest building in Japan. Until 2010, it was known as Osaka World Trade Center Building (大阪ワールドトレードセンタービルディング, Ōsaka Wārudo Torēdo Sentā Birudingu) or WTC Cosmo Tower (WTCコスモタワー, Daburyūtīshī Kosumo Tawā). It is located in Nanko Cosmo Square, near the Osaka harbor, in Suminoe-ku. The skyscraper rises 256 m (840 ft), the same height as the Rinku Gate Tower Building in Izumisano. It contains three basement floors, a museum, restaurants, office space, a conference room, a skylobby and an observation deck, which is located in an inverted pyramid at the top of the structure. The building houses the working office for the governor of Osaka Prefecture.

Soai University (相愛大学, Sōai Daigaku) is a private university in the city of Osaka, Japan. It was established in 1888, initially as a women's university. Famous people with ties to Soai include alumni Hideo Ishikawa, Haruko Okamoto, Mihoko Shuku and Yasuhito Sugiyama.

Morinomiya University of Medical Sciences (森ノ宮医療大学, Morinomiya iryō daigaku) is a private university in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan, established in 2007.

Nakafuto Station (中ふ頭駅, Nakafutō-eki, lit. Central Pier) is a train station on the Nankō Port Town Line (New Tram) in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan.

Cosmosquare Station (コスモスクエア駅, Kosumosukuea-eki) is a metro station on the Osaka Metro Chūō Line and Nankō Port Town Line (New Tram) in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan. This station serves as the starting terminus of both lines. This station is the westernmost station of the Osaka metro system as of 2024.

Port Town-nishi Station (ポートタウン西駅, Pōtotaun-nishi-eki, station number: P12) is a train station on the Nankō Port Town Line (New Tram) in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan. It literally means "Port Town West".

Trade Center-mae Station (トレードセンター前駅, Torēdosentā-mae-eki, lit. "In front of Trade Center") is a train station on the Nankō Port Town Line (New Tram) in Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan. The station serves Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building (formerly Osaka World Trade Center Building or WTC Cosmo Tower), the third tallest building in Japan, from which it got its name from.

The two Battles of Kizugawaguchi (木津川口の戦い, Kizugawaguchi no Tatakai) were fought during Oda Nobunaga's attempted sieges of the Ishiyama Hongan-ji in Osaka. The Hongan-ji was the primary fortress of the Ikkō-ikki, mobs of warrior monks, priests, and farmers who opposed Oda's rule. He ordered one of his admirals, Kuki Yoshitaka, to organize a blockade against the fleets of the Ikki's allies, who sought to supply the fortress and break the siege. Many of the ruling families of the neighboring provinces opposed Oda, chief among them the Mōri Terumoto from Mōri clan.
