Saltbox Seafood Joint is a seafood restaurant in Durham, North Carolina. Chef–owner Ricky Moore established the business in the Old Five Points neighborhood in October 2012. He added a food truck in 2014 and opened a second larger brick and mortar restaurant in 2017. The original location closed in August 2021 with the expiration of a ten-year lease, and the business continues to operate on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard. Saltbox Seafood Joint focuses on local fish and changes the menu daily. In addition to seafood staples like clams, crabs, oysters, and scallops, the restaurant has served fried cornmeal fritters called "Hush-Honeys" as well as special dishes to celebrate select holidays and observances such as Black History Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month, Thanksgiving, and Veterans Day. The business has received positive reviews, being named "Best New Restaurant" by The News & Observer and earning Moore a James Beard Foundation Award in the Best Chef: Southeast category in 2022.

The Douglas M. and Grace Knight House, also known as Knight House, is a Modernist-style mansion in Durham, North Carolina. The house, designed by Alden B. Dow, previously served as the official residence for presidents of Duke University and is now used by the university as an event space, conference facility, and guest house. On April 6, 1968, following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., four-hundred and fifty university students marched to the house during the Silent Vigil at Duke University to deliver a list of demands to Duke president Douglas M. Knight. The house, previously called University House, was officially named after Knight and his wife, Grace Nicholas Knight, in 2003.

The J. Deryl Hart House is the official residence for the President of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Built between 1933 and 1934 for Julian Deryl Hart, the three-story brick and timber Tudor Revival mansion is located on the university's West Campus, near Wallace Wade Stadium, at the crossroads of Duke University Road and Academy Road.

Mary Duke Biddle Estate, also known as the James O. Cobb House, is a historic home and estate located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. The main house "Pinecrest" is a Tudor Revival style dwelling built in 1927, with additions and interior renovations made between 1935 and 1958. These additions and renovations included Colonial Revival, French Eclectic, Oriental, Art Moderne, and Art Deco elements. The estate property includes an additional three contributing outbuildings and nine contributing structures. They are The Cottage, a gasoline pump, iron picket fence with two ornamental gates, two large brick arches, stone-lined grottoes, bathhouse, tennis court, a swimming pool, a stone fireplace, pergola, a gardener's cottage with an attached greenhouse, and a storage garage. The estate was the home of philanthropist Mary Duke Biddle from 1935 until her death in 1960.After Mary Duke Biddle's death, the house was owned by noted philanthropist Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans and her husband, James H. Semans, who gave the house to their son, James D.B.T. Semans in 1976. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. Pinecrest and some of the contributing resources are included in the Forest Hills Historic District.In July 2023, the house located at 1415 Bivins St. was burned down as part of a training exercise by the Durham Fire Department, to make room for a proposed housing development.

Wallace Wade Stadium, in full Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium, is a 40,004-seat outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States, located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Primarily used for American football, it is the home field of the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Opened 95 years ago in 1929, it was the first facility in Duke's new West Campus. Originally Duke Stadium, it was renamed in 1967 for former head coach Wallace Wade. The playing surface was renamed Brooks Field at the beginning of the 2015 season after the removal of the track and lowering of the field-level seats.

Koskinen Stadium is a 4,500-seat (7,000-capacity) stadium in Durham, North Carolina on the campus of Duke University. It serves as home to Duke's soccer and lacrosse teams. The stadium is named in honor of Duke benefactors John Koskinen and Patricia Koskinen.

Krzyzewskiville, or K-ville for short, is a phenomenon that occurs before major men's basketball games at Duke University. In simplest terms, it is the line for undergraduate students wishing to gain access to the designated tenting games. It is often mistakenly referred to as a ticket line. However, there are no student tickets; students are admitted from the line an hour and a half before each game. Krzyzewskiville is named for former head coach Mike Krzyzewski, often called "Coach K", the much loved coach who coached Duke from 1980 to 2022, and helped make Duke's basketball program one of the best in the nation. He was known to buy pizza for the K-ville residents from time to time and held open-forum "team meetings" with the Cameron Crazies before games against their arch-rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels. Graduate and professional students do not participate in Krzyzewskiville, as Duke's Graduate and Professional Student Council operates a separate weekend-long campout each September followed by a lottery for a small number of graduate and professional student season tickets.

Card Gymnasium is a multi-purpose arena in Durham, North Carolina. It was home to the Duke University Blue Devils basketball team from its opening in 1930 until Cameron Indoor Stadium opened in 1940. During its years as home to the men's basketball team, it had a capacity of approximately 4,000. It was originally named “Duke Gymnasium” before being named after former Blue Devils head basketball coach, Wilbur Wade Card, in 1958. It currently serves as the home to Duke Wrestling and Fencing.

Cameron Indoor Stadium is an indoor arena located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The 9,314-seat facility is the primary indoor athletic venue for the Duke Blue Devils and serves as the home court for Duke men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball. It opened in January 1940 and was known as Duke Indoor Stadium until 1972, when it was named for Eddie Cameron, who served at Duke as men's basketball coach from 1928 to 1942, as football coach from 1942 to 1945, and as athletic director from 1951 to 1972. The arena is located adjacent to its predecessor, Card Gymnasium, which opened in 1930.

The district encompasses 312 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures in a predominantly residential section of Durham that was the city's first automobile suburb. The buildings primarily date between about 1923 and 1955 and include notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture. Notable contributing resources include Forest Hills Park, the subdivision plan, the original campus of Durham Academy, and the separately listed Mary Duke Biddle Estate.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.On December 9, 2001, Nortel executive Kathleen Peterson was reportedly murdered by her husband, the writer Michael Peterson, in their mansion in Forest Hills.
