Wiley and Elizabeth Forbus House is a historic home located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It was built between 1931 and 1933, and is a two-story, Norman Provincial style brick dwelling. It consists of a central hip-roofed block flanked by side gabled wings. It features a two-story tower with conical roof on the main block.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. It is located in the Hope Valley Historic District.

Bartlett Mangum House, also known as Clair's Cafe, is a historic home located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It was built in 1908, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Classical Revival style frame dwelling. It consists of the main block, three bays wide and two bays deep, with projecting polygonal side bays and a one-story rear ell. It features a high hipped roof, projecting gabled dormers and tall chimneys, and a two-tier portico carried by massive stuccoed Doric order columns. After ceasing residential usage in the 1960s, the building has housed a church, a retail clothes store, and restaurant.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Hope Valley was the first full-fledged country club community in the suburbs of Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It is developed around an 18-hole Donald Ross golf course. Created in 1925-26 just before the stock market crash of 1929, Hope Valley remained a unique rural colony until after World War II. Well outside the city limits Hope Valley was situated between Durham and Chapel Hill, and their university campuses, Duke and UNC Chapel Hill. It was one of North Carolina's first suburbs designed to be completely serviced by the automobile, well beyond urban transportation routes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 as the Hope Valley Historic District, a national historic district.

The Douglas M. and Grace Knight House, also known as Knight House, is a Modernist-style mansion in Durham, North Carolina. The house, designed by Alden B. Dow, previously served as the official residence for presidents of Duke University and is now used by the university as an event space, conference facility, and guest house. On April 6, 1968, following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., four-hundred and fifty university students marched to the house during the Silent Vigil at Duke University to deliver a list of demands to Duke president Douglas M. Knight. The house, previously called University House, was officially named after Knight and his wife, Grace Nicholas Knight, in 2003.

Durham Academy is an independent, coeducational, day school in Durham, North Carolina, whose 1,247 students range from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. John C. and Binford Carr House is a historic home located in the Hope Valley Historic District of Durham, North Carolina. It was built in 1958, and is a one-story, T-shaped brick, steel, and glass Modern Movement style dwelling with a flat roof. It originally had 2,337 square feet and employs a Japanese aesthetic with a courtyard plan, a copper door with a simple copper appliqué design, and two sets of Shoji rice paper doors.Binford Carr sold the property in December 2009 to Mark and Mimi Hansen. She also sold these new owners an empty, buildable lot next to the house. The Hansens and the owners of the adjacent property to the east purchased the lot together, and divided it into two lots to make it unbuildable, thus protecting it from development. The Binford-Carr house now sits on .699 acres. The Binford-Carr house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Saltbox Seafood Joint is a seafood restaurant in Durham, North Carolina. Chef–owner Ricky Moore established the business in the Old Five Points neighborhood in October 2012. He added a food truck in 2014 and opened a second larger brick and mortar restaurant in 2017. The original location closed in August 2021 with the expiration of a ten-year lease, and the business continues to operate on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard. Saltbox Seafood Joint focuses on local fish and changes the menu daily. In addition to seafood staples like clams, crabs, oysters, and scallops, the restaurant has served fried cornmeal fritters called "Hush-Honeys" as well as special dishes to celebrate select holidays and observances such as Black History Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month, Thanksgiving, and Veterans Day. The business has received positive reviews, being named "Best New Restaurant" by The News & Observer and earning Moore a James Beard Foundation Award in the Best Chef: Southeast category in 2022.

The J. Deryl Hart House is the official residence for the President of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Built between 1933 and 1934 for Julian Deryl Hart, the three-story brick and timber Tudor Revival mansion is located on the university's West Campus, near Wallace Wade Stadium, at the crossroads of Duke University Road and Academy Road.
