Hillsborough Township School District

Hillsborough Township is a township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located in the Raritan Valley region, the township is a suburban and exurban bedroom community of New York City within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 43,276, an increase of 4,973 (+13.0%) from the 2010 census count of 38,303, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,669 (+4.6%) from the 36,634 counted in the 2000 census.Hillsborough Township was originally created by royal charter issued May 31, 1771, which was revoked and revised on September 12, 1771. It was incorporated on February 21, 1798 by the New Jersey Legislature Township Act of 1798 as one of New Jersey's original group of 104 townships. Portions of the township were taken to form the boroughs of Millstone (May 14, 1894) and Manville (April 1, 1929). The township's name may have come from an earlier name of "Hillsbury", though it may have been named for Wills Hill, 1st Marquess of Downshire who was the Earl of Hillsborough. Based upon one analysis of data from the FBI's Uniform Crime Report for 2022, Hillsborough Township was ranked as the second-safest small city in the United States.

Flagtown is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located within Hillsborough Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

Hillsborough High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Hillsborough Township School District. Students from Millstone also attend the school, after Millstone was integrated into the Hillsborough district, prior to which they had attended as part of a sending/receiving relationship.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,351 students and 171.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.7:1. There were 108 students (4.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 52 (2.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Hillsborough is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the center of Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in south-central Somerset County and is bordered to the northwest by Flagtown, to the west by Neshanic, and to the south by Belle Mead. U.S. Route 206 passes through the community, leading north 5 miles (8 km) to Somerville, the county seat, and south 12 miles (19 km) to Princeton.

Flounder Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Hillsborough in Somerset County, New Jersey. Started by Jeremy Lees as a homebrewing hobby, it grew to encompass other members of the family including his brothers, Daniel and Michael, and his cousin William. The brewery opened to the public in October 2013, and was first sold to the public at the Fox and Hound Tavern in Lebanon, New Jersey. It was New Jersey's 12th Limited Brewery license and one of the first nano scale breweries in New Jersey, producing an estimated 50 barrels of beer per year.In June of 2021 the brewery moved operations to a renovated 250 year old Dutch Barn and 150 year old English Barn. The expansion included adding a 15 barrel brewhouse and now features a 100 person capacity tasting barn with mezzanine as well as two outdoor beer gardens.

Carrier Clinic is an American private, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare system located in Belle Mead, New Jersey specializing in psychiatric and addiction treatment. Carrier's system includes a 281 licensed bed inpatient psychiatric hospital, a 32-bed detoxification and rehabilitation center, a 78-bed adolescent residential facility, and a fully accredited middle and high school for students classified emotionally disturbed. Since 1910, Carrier has offered a wide array of specialized services to care for individuals suffering from psychiatric and addictive illness. Belle Mead is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 5,569, reflecting an expansion of the CDP from 0.74 square miles (1.9 km2) in 2010 to 4.03 square miles (10.4 km2) in 2020.

The Sourland Mountain Preserve is located on Sourland Mountain, in the Sourlands region of New Jersey. It is within Hillsborough Township and Montgomery Township of Somerset County. The largest donation of land was made by Norma Gilbert Farr, trustee of the Linus R. Gilbert Foundation. The Farr family has donated over 3,000 acres to the Sourland Mountain Preserve and the Somerset County Parks Commission.

South Branch is an unincorporated community located within Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The community is named for and is located along the South Branch Raritan River. The South Branch Historic District encompassing the village was listed on the state and national registers of historic places in 1977.

Sourland Mountain is a 17 miles (27 km) long ridge in central New Jersey, U.S., extending from the Delaware River at Lambertville to the western end of Hillsborough Township near the community of Neshanic, through Montgomery Township and into Hopewell Township in Mercer County. It comprises the largest contiguous forest in Central Jersey, nearly 90 square miles (233 km2) in area. The highest point is only 568 feet (173 m) above sea level, but the way it rises steeply from the surrounding farmland has earned it the title of 'mountain'. The ridge itself sits within a larger area of rough terrain called The Sourlands.

Neshanic is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Hillsborough Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located near the South Branch Raritan River. The Neshanic Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
