Belle Mead is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 5,569, reflecting an expansion of the CDP from 0.74 square miles (1.9 km2) in 2010 to 4.03 square miles (10.4 km2) in 2020.

Harlingen is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 297.It is adjacent to the historical areas of Dutchtown and Bridgepoint. Harlingen Road and U.S. Route 206 intersect in the center of Harlingen. The Harlingen Dutch Reformed Church on Route 206 is extant and had an associated cemetery. The town was a stop on the short-lived Mercer and Somerset Railway.

Carrier Clinic is an American private, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare system located in Belle Mead, New Jersey specializing in psychiatric and addiction treatment. Carrier's system includes a 281 licensed bed inpatient psychiatric hospital, a 32-bed detoxification and rehabilitation center, a 78-bed adolescent residential facility, and a fully accredited middle and high school for students classified emotionally disturbed. Since 1910, Carrier has offered a wide array of specialized services to care for individuals suffering from psychiatric and addictive illness. Treatment for illnesses such as anxiety, depression, dementia and substance dependence is offered to individuals of every age, specialized services for the older adult, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Hillsborough High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Hillsborough Township School District. Students from Millstone also attend the school, after Millstone was integrated into the Hillsborough district, prior to which they had attended as part of a sending/receiving relationship.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,351 students and 171.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.7:1. There were 108 students (4.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 52 (2.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Flounder Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Hillsborough in Somerset County, New Jersey. Started by Jeremy Lees as a homebrewing hobby, it grew to encompass other members of the family including his brothers, Daniel and Michael, and his cousin William. The brewery opened to the public in October 2013, and was first sold to the public at the Fox and Hound Tavern in Lebanon, New Jersey. It was New Jersey's 12th Limited Brewery license and one of the first nano scale breweries in New Jersey, producing an estimated 50 barrels of beer per year.In June of 2021 the brewery moved operations to a renovated 250 year old Dutch Barn and 150 year old English Barn. The expansion included adding a 15 barrel brewhouse and now features a 100 person capacity tasting barn with mezzanine as well as two outdoor beer gardens.

Hillsborough Township is a township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located in the Raritan Valley region, the township is a suburban and exurban bedroom community of New York City within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 43,276, an increase of 4,973 (+13.0%) from the 2010 census count of 38,303, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,669 (+4.6%) from the 36,634 counted in the 2000 census.Hillsborough Township was originally created by royal charter issued May 31, 1771, which was revoked and revised on September 12, 1771. It was incorporated on February 21, 1798 by the New Jersey Legislature Township Act of 1798 as one of New Jersey's original group of 104 townships. Portions of the township were taken to form the boroughs of Millstone (May 14, 1894) and Manville (April 1, 1929). The township's name may have come from an earlier name of "Hillsbury", though it may have been named for Wills Hill, 1st Marquess of Downshire who was the Earl of Hillsborough. Based upon one analysis of data from the FBI's Uniform Crime Report for 2022, Hillsborough Township was ranked as the second-safest small city in the United States.

The Dirck Gulick House is a historic stone house built in 1752 and located at 506 County Route 601 (Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road) in the Dutchtown section of Montgomery Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 2003 for its significance in architecture and exploration/settlement. It is now operated as a historic house museum by the Van Harlingen Historical Society.

Dutchtown is an unincorporated community located within Montgomery Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area consists mainly of forested land with some houses grouped around the intersection of Dutchtown-Zion Road and Belle Mead-Blawenberg Road (County Route 601) in the northern portion of the township. Also nearby are the Unionville Cemetery and a rock quarry. The Dirck Gulick House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Western precinct was one of three components of Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, that was created circa 1745 and existed until 1798. The Western precinct, together with the Eastern precinct and Northern precinct, were created as administrative divisions of Somerset County, while still under British colonial rule.Portions of the precinct were taken on September 12, 1771, to form Hillsborough Township.On February 21, 1798, the remaining portions of the Western precinct were taken to form Montgomery Township as one of the first 104 townships created in New Jersey. With the formation of Montgomery Township, Western precinct was dissolved.
