The Gladstone Arms is a public house in Lant Street in the Borough – the Southwark district of London. It is also known as The Glad. Built on the site of a Victorian pub, the current building was constructed in the 1920s. It has been threatened by redevelopment but its popularity as a meeting place and live music venue have caused it to be recognised as an asset of community value.

It is located in the Sessions House on Newington Causeway at the corner of Harper Road. It is a Grade II listed building.

The King's Bench Prison was a prison in Southwark, south London, England, from medieval times until it closed in 1880. It took its name from the King's Bench court of law in which cases of defamation, bankruptcy and other misdemeanours were heard; as such, the prison was often used as a debtor's prison until the practice was abolished in the 1860s. In 1842, it was renamed the Queen's Bench Prison, and became the Southwark Convict Prison in 1872.

The University College of Osteopathy (UCO), formerly the British School of Osteopathy (BSO), is the largest and oldest school of osteopathy in the United Kingdom. The UCO holds Recognised Qualification (RQ) status from the statutory regulatory body for osteopathy in the UK, the General Osteopathic Council. The institution was granted degree awarding powers in October 2015. It was given University College status in September 2017 from the UK Privy Council, and it is an exempt charity.

Horsemonger Lane Gaol (also known as the Surrey County Gaol or the New Gaol) was a prison close to present-day Newington Causeway in Southwark, south London. Built at the end of the 18th century, it was in use until 1878.

Newington Gardens is located on Harper Road in Southwark, London, England. To the north-west is the Inner London Sessions House, a Crown Court. Its area is 1.697 hectares (4.19 acres). The park occupies part of the site of an old prison that was closed in 1878. The park was opened by Catherine Gladstone, wife of the then prime minister, on 5 May 1884.The park occupies the site where Horsemonger Lane Gaol was located for almost a century from 1791. Designed by George Gwilt the Elder, architect surveyor to the county of Surrey, this was once the largest prison in the county. The MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) courts in the park are regularly used by the London Hardcourt Bicycle Polo Association for casual games and tournaments. Newington Gardens is the burial place of Lieutenant Thomas Beauclerk, who committed suicide in Horsemonger's Gaol on 27 / 28 November 1832 and he was buried in the vicinity of Horsemonger's Gaol. He was committed to the prison to await trial on a charge of sodomy.

The Mint was a district in Southwark, south London, England, on the west side of Borough High Street, around where Marshalsea Road is now located. It was so named because a mint authorised by King Henry VIII was set up in Suffolk Place, a mansion house, in about 1543. The mint ceased to operate in the reign of Mary I and Suffolk Place was demolished in 1557. In the late-17th and early-18th centuries, the area was known for offering protection against prosecution for debtors due to its legal status as a "liberty", or a jurisdictional interzone.

Mercato Metropolitano is a food hall in Elephant and Castle, London opened in 2016. It is located inside a former papermaking factory. The food hall provides various options of fresh foods and meals including an Italian foods shop and market stalls. In 2025, plans were approved by Southwark to demolish the venue of Mercato Metropolitano as part of the Borough Triangle development, a controversial decision which was contested by locals, being seen as one of the only attractions left in Elephant and Castle and its closure as a "significant loss to the community". Part of the planned development includes a replacement food hall but there are no plans for a venue to host vendors during construction. A docu-series, "Unknown Chefs" released in 2025 explored the stories of four chefs at Mercato Metropolitano, prompting plans to open a filming studio.

Marshalsea Road (classified A3201) is a major street in Southwark, south London, England. At the northwest end is the Southwark Bridge Road. At the southeast end is Borough tube station on Borough High Street. Continuing across the street are Long Lane and Great Dover Street. At the northeast corner is the historic St George the Martyr church, where the Charles Dickens character Little Dorrit was married in Dickens' book of the same name. The area around Marshalsea Road has many Dickens associations. Opposite Borough tube station, on the corner of Marshalsea Road and Borough High Street, is Brandon House. This is now the headquarters of Acas (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service), an independent non-departmental public body of the UK Government for resolving industrial relations disputes.The Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) is located at 6 Marshalsea Street and the Tara Bryan Gallery is at No 10.BCH Architects, specialists in church restoration projects and ecclesiastical architecture, are located at 16–18 Marshalsea Road.

The Henry Wood Hall is an orchestral rehearsal and recording studio in Trinity Church Square, Southwark, London, named after the conductor Sir Henry Wood. Formerly the Holy Trinity Church, it was designed in 1823–24 by Francis Octavius Bedford.In 1970, The London Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestras, carried out an assessment of various churches in London with a view to creating a new permanent orchestral rehearsal studio in London. Following their research into disused churches, the Holy Trinity Church in Southwark was identified and subsequently opened in 1975. The hall was named after Sir Henry Wood, an English conductor best known for his association with London's annual series of promenade concerts, informally known as the Proms, after receiving a substantial donation from the Henry Wood Fund (set up to rebuild the blitzed Queen's Hall).Visiting orchestras include the St Petersburg Philharmonic and the Japan Philharmonic which have recorded and rehearsed at the venue with many others.

Southwark Bridge Road is a road in Southwark, London, England, between Newington Causeway near Elephant and Castle and Southwark Bridge across the River Thames, leading to the City of London, in a meandering route. The road was created by connecting a series of other streets to provide access from the south to Southwark Bridge in 1819, which as a private venture was not able to use the publicly financed road system which had been created to improve access from the south to the City and the Westminster areas by the building of Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge in the late 18th Century which junction of routes combine at St George's Circus. This connection did not come about until the creation of Southwark Street in the 1880s. It does not start at the main northern roads junction at Elephant and Castle either. At the southern end is the campus of London South Bank University. The Ministry of Sound, a well-known nightclub, is in Gaunt Street, just to the east, and is faced with Two Fifty One, a new mixed-used high-rise building, the construction of which generated issues for the club.The London Fire Brigade Museum and the London Fire Brigade Training Centre were located on the road before the site started to be redeveloped in 2015. At the northern end, across Southwark Street near the river are the Rose Theatre Exhibition, the Financial Times headquarters and Anchor Terrace, a Georgian building standing on the site of Shakespeare's original Globe Theatre. The road is designated the A300.
