Newton-Conover High School (NCHS) is a public high school located in Newton, North Carolina, and is the one of two secondary schools in Newton-Conover City Schools system, alongside Discovery High School.

Notable buildings include the Junius R. Gaither House (c. 1936), First Presbyterian Church (1878), Eli M. Deal House (1904), Wade C. Raymer House (1923), William W. Trott House (c. 1897), Dr. Glenn Long House (c. 1910, 1935), Hewitt-McCorkle House (1920), Andrew J. Seagle House (c. 1861), Walter C. Feimster House (1908), Robert B. Knox House (1912), (Former) Newton High School (1905, 1935), Henkel-Williams-White House (c. 1883), Loomis F. Klutz House (c. 1927), (former) Newton Elementary School (1923, 1930), and Beth Eden Lutheran Church (1929).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Discovery High School is part of Newton-Conover City Schools and is one of the two high schools in the district, alongside Newton-Conover High School. Founded in 2005, it was created through a partnership grant with the North Carolina New Schools Project and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As of 2021, The school has 211 students on roll in grades 9–12.

Notable buildings include the First National Bank of Catawba County (c. 1923), H&W Drug Company (c. 1898, c. 1938), Belk-Brumley Department Store (c. 1920, c. 1940), Alman Furniture Company Building (c. 1950), Catawba County Courthouse (1924), Ervin Apartments (1936), Sanitary Grocery (c. 1905), Freeze Drug Store (c. 1906), Catawba County Library (1954), Haupt Building (c. 1955), City Hall and Fire Station (c. 1925), and Eagle Building (c. 1920).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Catawba County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1924, and is a two-story, Renaissance Revival style granite veneered structure. It consists of a two-story main block flanked by slightly recessed two-story wings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Newton Downtown Historic District. Now home to the Catawba County Museum of History, the Courthouse was designed by Willard G. Rogers of Charlotte and built by J. J. Stout for $250,000.

Grace Reformed Church, also known as Calvary Baptist Church (since 1959), is a historic church located at 201–211 S. Main Avenue in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina, United States. It was built in 1887–1888, and is a Gothic Revival-style church building. It has a cruciform plan, steeply pitched gable roof, corner towers of unequal height, and lancet arched doors and windows. Attached to the church in 1927–1928, is a two-story Sunday School Building with a gable roof.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Self–Trott–Bickett House is a historic home located at Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built between 1881 and 1883, and is a two-story brick, double pile house with a rear ell and Italianate and Classical Revival style design elements. It has a low hipped roof, exterior end chimneys, and a wraparound porch. It was the home of Lawrence Bickett, a grocery wholesaler and brother of North Carolina governor Thomas Walter Bickett.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

It was built in 1883, and is a two-story, L-shaped, Italianate style frame dwelling. It features a multi-gabled roof has a widely overhanging boxed and molded cornice supported by thick curvilinear brackets and porch with overhanging bracketed eaves.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Bolick Historic District, also known as Bolick Buggy Shop and Bolick Family Houses, is a national historic district located at Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 9 contributing building and 1 contributing structure. The district includes the remaining buildings of the Jerome Bolick & Sons Company buggy works and four houses with accompanying outbuildings which were erected by members of the Bolick family. The houses include examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
