Maiden is a town in Catawba and Lincoln counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 3,310 at the 2010 census.Maiden was the first public high school in the state with an observatory and is currently home to an Apple iCloud Data Center, covering 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2). In May 2012, Apple announced it would generate 60 percent of the Maiden facility's power itself, through a large deployment of fuel cells at the site and a 100-acre (40 ha) solar farm, with an additional 150-acre (61 ha) site 2 miles (3 km) away.The Catawba County portion of Maiden is part of the Hickory–Lenoir–Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Lincoln County portion is part of the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia Metropolitan Area.

William Pinckney Reinhardt House, also known as the Pink Reinhardt House, Reinhardt-Sigmon House, and Sigmon House, is a historic home located near Maiden, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built about 1845, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. The front facade features center bay portico supported by two stuccoed-brick Doric order columns and a sophisticated Asher Benjamin-inspired doorway. It has a 1+1⁄2-story frame addition built in the 1920s. It is nearly identical to the neighboring Franklin D. Reinhardt House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Rudisill–Wilson House is a historic home located near Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built about 1820, and is a two-story, three-bay, central hall plan frame dwelling. It features exterior end chimneys and a shed porch with late-19th century brackets.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Reinhardt House was built about 1845, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style dwelling nearly identical to the William Pinckney Reinhardt House. Also on the property is a contributing granary. The Harren-Hood House was built about 1908, and is a two-story frame, late Victorian farmhouse. Also on the property is a contributing granary and cattle barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Salem Union Church and Cemetery, also known as Salem Lutheran Church and Salem United Church of Christ, is a historic United Church of Christ church and cemetery located near Maiden, Lincoln County, North Carolina. The church was built in 1849 as a simple rectangular brick building, and enlarged and remodeled in the Late Gothic Revival style in 1914–1915. With the remodeling, a two-stage corner tower was added and the window and door openings converted to lancet-arch openings. A two-story Sunday School addition was built in 1936-1937 and in 1989 a Fellowship Hall was built to form an H-shaped church building. Also on the property is a contributing well shed (c. 1928) and cemetery with burials dating to 1792.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as Jacobs Creek. Jacob Fork rises near the top of Grassy Ridge in Burke County, North Carolina, on the He Creek divide, then flows east into Catawba County to form South Fork Catawba River with Henry Fork about 3 miles southwest of Startown. It drains 96.24 sq mi (249.3 km2) of area, receives about 51.2 in/year of precipitation, has a topographic wetness index of 325.14, and is about 64% forested.
