Dr. Joseph Bennett Riddle House is a historic home located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1892, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Queen Anne style frame house. It features a number of balconies, bay windows, and dormers. A three-story tower was added in about 1910.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Franklin Pierce Tate House is a historic home located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Electus D. Litchfield and completed in 1928. It is a two-story, Colonial Revival style dwelling constructed of irregularly-coursed, rock-faced granite blocks. It consists of a main block measuring 52 feet by 33 feet, with a recessed two-story wing. The front entrance features a semi-circular, flat-roofed portico. It was built by Franklin Pierce Tate (1867–1937), a prominent Morganton banker and mill-owner, and son of Colonel Samuel McDowell Tate who built the Tate House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is located in the West Union Street Historic District.

Tate House, also known as The Cedars, is a historic home located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. The core was built about 1850, and is a two-story, three-bay, brick mansion with a center hall plan in the Greek Revival style. It was remodeled in the Second Empire style in 1868, with the addition of a mansard roof and large three-story octagonal tower. It was the home of Samuel McDowell Tate (1830–1897), who undertook the 1868 remodeling.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

It was remodeled in the 1870s in the Gothic Revival style. It features a two-story gabled porch with decorative bargeboards. It was built about 1876, and is a two-story, U-shaped, Late Victorian style brick house. It features a 2+1⁄2-story, squarish, brick tower topped by a mansard roof. Alphonso Calhoun Avery was born at Swan Ponds in 1835, the fifth son of Isaac Thomas Avery (1785-1864). Avery had a notable legal, military and political careers highlighted by an eight-year term as an associate justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located in the North Green Street-Bouchelle Street Historic District.

Grace Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in Morganton, North Carolina. Founded in 1845, property was procured at the corner of King Street and Meeting Street, and the original structure was constructed in 1846 primarily from timber, seating approximately 50 people. The current structure was constructed in 1896 from local granite and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Grace has enjoyed a rich history of mission and outreach. At the turn of the 20th century, Grace Episcopal Church clergy and members founded five additional Episcopal mission congregations in Burke County, North Carolina, most of which included a chapel and school. Two of the original five mission congregations survive today as parishes: St. Mary & St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Morganton and St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Lake James. In 1906, Grace Episcopal Church founded Grace Hospital, originally located adjacent to the existing church building on King Street. Today, Grace Hospital is part of the Blue Ridge Healthcare System. From there, Grace members went on to start the first Red Cross chapter in Burke County, the first hospice in Burke County, and the first Boy Scouts troop for deaf scouts in the United States.Today, Grace continues its commitment to serving the community in many ways. In particular, its extensive backpack ministry, providing more than 200 10-pound backpacks of food for children and families at a local elementary school. Grace also offers grants to local non-profit service-oriented organizations through the Grace Foundation, founded in 1969, and disbursing between $70,000 and $80,000 per year.Grace Episcopal Church's current rector is The Rev. Marshall A. Jolly, who was called in May 2015. The parish deacon is The Rev. Deacon Mike Jenkins.
