E. D. Latta Nurses' Residence is a historic residential building located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1929, and is a three-story, 11-bay, L-shaped brick building in the Colonial Revival style. The central five bays form a slightly projecting pavilion with pediment. It features a shallow Tuscan order portico at the main entrance.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Buncombe County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Frank Pierce Milburn and built between 1924 and 1928. It is a 17-story, steel frame skyscraper sheathed in brick and ashlar veneer. It features complex setbacks and an extravagant overlay of Neo-Classical Revival ornament.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Downtown Asheville Historic District.

The Thomas Wolfe House, also known as the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, is a state historic site, historic house and museum located at 52 North Market Street in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. The American author Thomas Wolfe (1900–1938) lived in the home during his boyhood. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971 for its association with Wolfe. It is located in the Downtown Asheville Historic District.

Pack Square Park is a public square in Asheville, North Carolina. Situated immediately west of Asheville City Hall and Buncombe County Courthouse and established in 1903, it is bounded by South Spruce Street to the west, College Street to the north, Court Plaza to the east, and Marjorie Street to the south. In 2009, a memorial to Western North Carolina Veterans was installed on the northern side of the square, while a covered stage occupies the eastern side. The park is named for George W. Pack, who donated the land for its creation in 1901. The earlier courthouse, which occupied the location, was demolished and rebuilt a few yards to the east. The vacated parcel of land was named Pack Square Park in 1903.In 2009, the park was redesigned under the guidance of Pack Square Conservancy, a non-profit organization. City–County Plaza became Roger McGuire Green and mid-park became Reuter Terrace.The park should not be confused with Pack Square (or Pack Square Plaza), located around 500 feet (150 m) to the west.

The Hayes and Hopson Building (originally the Westall Building) is a historic three-story structure on South Spruce Street in Asheville, North Carolina. Built in 1907 and expanded in 1912, the building overlooks Pack Square Park. It became an important meeting point during Prohibition, when liquor was exchanged beneath the building via a network of tunnels. Pack's Tavern occupies the location today.

Chestnut Hill Historic District is a national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 238 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in a predominantly residential section of Asheville. It was developed in the late-19th and early-20th century and includes Colonial Revival, Queen Anne-influenced, and bracketed Victorian style dwellings. At least eight of the houses were designed by architect Richard Sharp Smith.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Asheville Masonic Temple is a Masonic Temple located in Asheville, North Carolina. Designed by British American architect and Freemason Richard Sharp Smith, the building was opened in April 1915. It is listed in the United States National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building in the Downtown Asheville Historic District.It is a four-story pressed brick building with limestone and grey brick trim, upon a granite foundation. It has a red tile hipped roof above its front portion. The Broadway facade has a two-story portico with paired Ionic columns.

The Jackson Building is a 140 ft (43m) 15-story building in Asheville, North Carolina And is owned by the Blaney Estate such was completed in 1924 in Pack Square downtown. It was the first skyscraper in western North Carolina.

The Vance Monument was a late 19th-century granite obelisk in Asheville, North Carolina, that memorialized Zebulon Vance, a former North Carolina governor from the area. The monument was designed by architect Richard Sharp Smith and was an "iconic landmark" and key structure in the Downtown Asheville Historic District. Smith was the supervising architect for George W. Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate and the leading architect of the region in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He donated his services to design the monument, which was a project envisioned by community leaders. The Vance Monument was mostly funded by George Willis Pack, a New Yorker who had recently moved to Asheville. Other contributors included Jewish organizations and politicians and businesses from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Massachusetts. In addition to serving three terms as governor of North Carolina, Vance was a United States Congressman before the Civil War and a United States senator from 1880 until he died in 1894. The project's donors reflected Vance's influence and reach as both a politician and popular speaker of the era. In the early 21st century, the monument became increasingly controversial because of its association with Vance, a former slave owner. The monument was removed by the City of Asheville in May 2021.

The museum is located on the center square of downtown Asheville, 2 South Pack Square at Pack Place.The Asheville Art Museum presents exhibitions and public programs based on its permanent collection of 20th and 21st century American art. The museum features regional and national artists through special exhibitions, and showcases works of significance to Western North Carolina's cultural heritage including Studio Craft, Black Mountain College and Cherokee artists. Educational programs for children and adults are also offered.
