Wekiwa Springs State Park is a 7,000-acre (28 km2) Florida State Park in Apopka, Florida. It is located 20 minutes north of Orlando, off Interstate 4 at exit 94, near Altamonte Springs and Longwood. The park also contains the head water of the Wekiva River. It also serves as the headquarters of one of the state's five AmeriCorps Florida State Parks chapters. Although the springs are spelled Wekiwa Springs, the river and most subdivisions and streets in Seminole County use the Wekiva spelling. Wekiwa is the Creek word for a spring, but contrary to popular belief that Wekiva means "flowing water", it was actually an alternate spelling used by developers.

Florida Central Academy was college preparatory boarding school in Mount Plymouth, Florida. It was founded as a school for boys by Colonel L. E. Allen and General T. L. Alexander in 1959 and classes began with the 1960–61 school year. There were a total of 23 senior classes. In 1971 the school became fully co-educational. The campus was situated on 45 acres (182,000 m2). The school was closed in 1983.

Mount Plymouth is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 4,011, up from 2,814 in 2000. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Apopka is a city in Orange County, Florida. The city's population was 55,000 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Apopka comes from Seminole word Ahapopka for "potato-eating place".Apopka is referred to as the "Indoor Foliage Capital of the World" due to the many greenhouse nurseries there.

Rock Springs Run State Reserve is a 14,000-acre (5,700 ha) State Park in the U.S. state of Florida. The main entrance is located about 30 miles (48 km) north of Orlando in Sorrento, 3 miles (4.8 km) west of the Wekiva River bridge on State Road 46 and extends into Orange and Seminole Counties to the south. The park contains a number of Indian mounds, pine flatwoods, swamps and artesian springs, and a number of creeks and rivers. Among them are Seminole Creek, Wekiwa Springs Run, Rock Springs Run, and the Wekiva River. Activities include bicycling, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, hunting and wildlife viewing. Among the wildlife of the park are Florida black bear, Florida scrub jay, sandhill crane, indigo snake, gopher tortoise. Amenities include a canoe and kayak launch, rentals, swimming, tubing, about 17 miles (27 km) of trails, access to the Rock Springs Run and the Wekiva River, primitive canoe and equestrian camping facilities. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. year round.

Apopka High School is in Apopka in northwest Orange County, Florida, United States. The school has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.The school serves grades 9 through 12, and has a preschool with a main teacher and student teachers.

Sorrento is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 861 at the 2010 census, up from 765 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Plymouth is an unincorporated area in Orange County, Florida, United States, northwest of downtown Apopka along US 441 (SR 500) (Orange Blossom Trail), at the intersection with Plymouth-Sorrento Road. It features the Pinsly Railroad Company's Florida headquarters and part of the Florida Central Railroad. It is statistically part of the Greater Orlando area.

The Mitchell–Tibbetts House (also known as the Miner House) is a historic home in Apopka, Florida. It is located at 21 East Orange Street. On November 7, 1991, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The house was built for R.N. Mitchell, a pioneer in the Apopka area. It was later owned by George W. Tibbetts, a general in the Union Army.

The Waite-Davis House (also known as the Leslie P. Waite House) is a historic home in Apopka, Florida. It is located at 5 South Central Avenue. On August 2, 1990, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Ryan & Company Lumber Yard (also known as Ryan Bros., Inc.) is a historic site in Apopka, Florida. It is located at 215 East Fifth Street. On February 25, 1993, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
