Eisbach (Isar)

The Luitpold-Gymnasium is a secondary school in Munich, Germany. It was established by Prince Luitpold of Bavaria in 1891 as "Luitpold-Kreisrealschule" to serve the eastern part of the city and its suburbs. It stood in the Alexandrastrasse opposite the National Museum. The building was almost completely destroyed by incendiary bombing in 1944, leaving only parts of the facade and the gymnasium (sports hall). The school shared the facilities of the Wilhelmsgymnasium until 1958 when it was able to move into a new building on Seeaustraße 1. The school introduced the Kollegstufe system in 1975 and became co-educational in 1983.

The Bavarian State Archaeological Collection (German: Archäologische Staatssammlung, until 2000 known as the Prähistorische Staatssammlung, State Prehistoric Collection) in Munich is the central museum of prehistory of the State of Bavaria, considered to be one of the most important archaeological collections and cultural history museums in Germany.

The Bavarian National Museum (German: Bayerisches Nationalmuseum) in Munich is one of the most important museums of decorative arts in Europe and one of the largest art museums in Germany. The Haus der Kunst (German: [ˈhaʊs deːɐ̯ ˈkʊnst], House of Art) is a non-collecting modern and contemporary art museum in Munich, Germany. It is located at Prinzregentenstraße 1 at the southern edge of the Englischer Garten, Munich's largest park.

The Chinese Tower (German: Chinesischer Turm) is a 25-metre wooden building resembling a pagoda at the Englischer Garten in Munich, Germany. The building was constructed from 1789 to 1790 and was opened to the public as an observation deck during the opening of the Englischer Garten in 1792. The tower burned down during the bombing of Munich during World War II and was reopened as a reconstruction in 1952. Today the tower is considered a landmark of the Englischer Garten.In the 1970s the tower was closed to the public because of security reasons and can since be accessed only by the music groups that still play at the tower. A reconstructed carousel originally dating back to the Biedermeier period is located near the tower, as well as numerous restaurants. The so-called Kocherlball festival has been held at the Chinese Tower on the third Sunday of July since 1989.

The Englischer Garten (German: [ˈʔɛŋlɪʃɐ ˈɡaʁtn̩], English Garden) is a large public park in the centre of Munich, Bavaria, stretching from the city centre to the northeastern city limits. It was created in 1789 by Sir Benjamin Thompson (1753–1814), later Count Rumford (Reichsgraf von Rumford), for Prince Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria. Thompson's successors, Reinhard von Werneck (1757–1842) and Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell (1750–1823), advisers on the project from its beginning, both extended and improved the park. With an area of 3.7 km2 (1.4 sq mi) (370 ha or 910 acres), the Englischer Garten is one of the world's largest urban public parks. The name refers to its English garden form of informal landscape, a style popular in England from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century and particularly associated with Capability Brown.

The Königinstraße is a street in Munich. It runs west of the Englischer Garten from the Von-der-Tann-Straße in the district of Maxvorstadt, to the north and to the Maria-Josepha-Straße and Mandlstraße in the Ensemble Alt-Schwabing.

St. Anna im Lehel is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in the Lehel district of Munich. Founded in 1808, it is staffed by Franciscans from the adjacent abbey of St. Anna. The historic parish church was constructed between 1887 and 1892 in Romanesque Revival by Gabriel von Seidl. It is the main parish church of Lehel, located in the center of the quarter, and situated opposite of the Abbey Church of St Anna.

The Consulate General of the United States, Munich represents the interests of the United States government in Bavaria, Germany. Headed by the Consul General, the Consulate provides services to Americans in Bavaria and fostering Bavarian-American relations. The Consulate includes departments devoted to US Foreign Commercial Services, Political, Economic and Environmental Affairs, Public Affairs, Consular Services, and Administrative Affairs. It is the third-largest U.S. diplomatic post in Germany, following Berlin and Frankfurt.

The St. Anna Platz is a square in Munich. It is registered as a listed ensemble in the Bayerische Denkmalliste (Bavarian Historical buildings list).

Lehel is a Munich U-Bahn station located centrally in the Lehel quarter of Munich. It is on the U4 and U5 lines between Odeonsplatz to the west and Max-Weber-Platz to the east, and is also served at ground level by tram line 18. The station has two excavated tunnels with side platforms on the centre line, joined at each end by connecting passages. From these connecting passages there are triple escalators to/from mezzanine levels, which in turn each have flanking exits to ground level with escalators and stairs. At the east end, there are two separate elevators linking the platform with the mezzanine, and the mezzanine with the ground levels. There is also a stairwell at the east end from the platform level to the mezzanine level. The west end exits lead to the west side of Sankt Anna Straße at Sankt Anna Platz; the east end exits lead to Tierschplatz, where the tram 18 stop is located. Because of a number of museums in the area, at track level there are reproductions of various sculptures embedded in the outside walls along with display cases in the connecting passages. The arched walls and ceilings of each platform tunnel are striped with matte silver metal bands which together with the central lighting strip give the space a bright appearance.
