Melbourne's Living Museum of the West is an ecomuseum and community social history museum in Melbourne's western suburb of Maribyrnong. It was established as part of Victoria's sesquicentenary (150 year anniversary) in 1984, along with the Children's Museum and the Museum of Chinese Australian History.

Jack's Magazine (also known as the Saltwater River Gunpowder Magazine) is located on the Maribyrnong River at Maribyrnong, Victoria. The complex opened in 1878, to provide safe storage for bonded gunpowder and explosives imported into the colony of Victoria. The twin bluestone vaulted buildings are concealed behind high earth mound blast walls, and a tall bluestone wall, with a canal connecting it to the river. It was designed by government architect, William Wardell, Inspector General, Public Works Department and built by contractor George Cornwell. It is registered by the National Trust, and listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The associated Footscray Ammunition Factory was mostly demolished and redeveloped for the Delfin Lend Lease Corporation's Edgewater estate. Jack's Magazine was proposed to be redeveloped for a commercial use, but following several calls for expressions of interests it was decided that public ownership was the only practical management for the historic site. Jack's Magazine is now managed by Working Heritage – a committee appointed by the Victorian Government to manage heritage properties on Crown Land. In an interview on the SBS the local Peter Haffenden asserted that, from Jack's Magazine, "all the bullets, all the .303s bullets used in Gallipoli, in Egypt, in the Somme, in Amiens" were all made by the munition company, whose main factory was based at Jack's Magazine.

Maribyrnong College, also known as Maribyrnong Secondary College, and formerly known as Maribyrnong High School, is a government-funded secondary day school that specialises in sports, located in Maribyrnong in the inner western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Students enrol based on local residence and/or in the selective sports academy. The school offers an accelerated learning program to prospective students who demonstrate academic ability. It is located on River Street, Maribyrnong (formerly Maidstone until this part of Maidstone was rezoned in the 1990s). Founded in 1958, as Maribyrnong High School, a state-of-the-art sports complex opened on 22 June 2010.

Highpoint is Victoria's third largest shopping centre and the fifth largest in Australia, with an annual turnover of $778 million and over 15 million shoppers visiting each year. It is the largest shopping centre serving Melbourne's western and north western suburbs, an area with a population of at least half a million people.

Aberfeldie Park is a cricket ground in Essendon, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. It is the home of the Aberfeldie Park Cricket Club, and hosted several Rose Bowl series Women's One Day International cricket matches during the winter of 1984–85.Aberfeldie Park has won the VTCA ground of the year in the 2001/2 season as well as being awarded curator of the year in the 2014/15 season. Aberfeldie Park Cricket Club also produced Paul Hibbert who played one test for Australia in the 1977–78 season.

The venue has also been the selected site for TV and film production and is the current filming location for MasterChef Australia. It also was used on the last show on The Police's Synchronicity Tour, their last world tour, before they re-united briefly to play three concerts for the Amnesty International A Conspiracy of Hope Tour and reuniting in the studio.

Footscray Hospital is a public hospital located on Gordon Street in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, Australia. It is one of three major hospitals operated by Western Health in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Maidstone tram depot is a future depot on the Yarra Trams network in Melbourne. To be built off Hampstead Road near the corner of Williamson Road, Maidstone, it will be the home depot for the G class trams and was the site of the former Maribyrnong Migrant Hostel. The project will involve building a spur pair of tracks west on Williamson Road from tram route 82 to turn South into Hampstead Road and then turn west into the new facility.

Victoria University (VU or Vic Uni) is a public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is a dual-sector university, providing courses in both higher education and technical and further education (TAFE). The university has several campuses in Melbourne Central Business District, Melbourne Western Region, and in Sydney, comprising six academic colleges, six research institutes, seven research centres and VU's Victoria Polytechnic.
