Footscray Hospital is a public hospital located on Gordon Street in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, Australia. It is one of three major hospitals operated by Western Health in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

The Pebbles is a house located at 57A Droop Street, on the corner of Geelong Road, in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. The house was built in 1920 and is an early and intact example of the popular Australian adaption of the California bungalow style in suburban Melbourne. The property was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 16 October 1997 in recognition of its architectural significance; having been added to non-statutory heritage lists by the Victorian branch of the National Trust on 3 September 1987 and the City of Maribyrnong on an unknown date.

The Footscray Primary School is a public co-educational primary school located at 100 Geelong Road, in Footscray, an inner western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. Administered by the Victorian Department of Education, the school has been in continuous operation since 1860 and, as of 2024, had 343 students enrolled. The school, including its buildings made of local bluestone erected from 1864 and completed in 1868 and 1881 and its 1911 red brick building, was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 20 August 1982 in recognition of its social, historical and architectural significance; and was added to the non-statutory lists of the now defunct Register of the National Estate on 21 March 1978 and the City of Maribyrnong on an unknown date.

Footscray High School is a multi-campus educational institution in Melbourne, Australia. Footscray College has formed a network with the University of Melbourne which gives students a better chance of getting into the University after they leave high school. The network provides opportunities for the college to enter into a structured program that focuses upon excellence in teaching and learning practice and the improvement of student learning outcomes.< The college also offers the Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) Program, which provides a focused educational environment for academically gifted children.The "Footscray City College Film and Television School" makes up the tertiary (TAFE) part of the college.

Gilmore College for Girls was founded in 1925 as the Footscray Domestic Arts School in response to the vast demand for employment in the Domestic Arts. Aspirations for young women have progressed greatly over the decades and Gilmore College changed and developed continually. Consequently, the name of the College has changed over the decades to reflect the rapid progress in girls’ education. In 1996 the college became Gilmore College in recognition of Dame Mary Gilmore. Gilmore College for Girls ran the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) from year 7 to 10. In 2020, Gilmore College for Girls merged with Footscray City College to become "Footscray High School", retaining both the Barkly Street and Kinnear Street campuses and adding a 3rd campus at Pilgrim Street in 2021.

Snuff Puppets is an Australian puppet theatre company founded in 1992. They combine elements of puppetry, live music, visual and physical theatre to discuss taboo topics and make political satire.

The Barkly Theatre is a former independent cinema theatre located on Barkly Street, Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. Operated as a cinema between 1914 and 1962, the building was repurposed as residential apartments in 2018. The former theatre was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 28 August 1991, and was added to the now defunct Register of the National Estate on 30 June 1992.

Victoria University (VU or Vic Uni) is a public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is a dual-sector university, providing courses in both higher education and technical and further education (TAFE). Whitten Oval (also known as Victoria University Whitten Oval under a naming rights agreement) is a stadium in the inner-western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in Barkly Street, West Footscray. It is the training and administrative headquarters of the Western Bulldogs (formerly the Footscray Football Club), which competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The ground is also the home of the club's women's and reserves teams which compete in the AFL Women's (AFLW), Victorian Football League (VFL), and VFL Women's (VFLW).Formerly known as the Western Oval, the venue was renamed in honour of Ted Whitten in 1995, a former player, captain and coach for the club. A statue of Whitten is located at the entrance of the oval.

Jack's Magazine (also known as the Saltwater River Gunpowder Magazine) is located on the Maribyrnong River at Maribyrnong, Victoria. The complex opened in 1878, to provide safe storage for bonded gunpowder and explosives imported into the colony of Victoria. The twin bluestone vaulted buildings are concealed behind high earth mound blast walls, and a tall bluestone wall, with a canal connecting it to the river. It was designed by government architect, William Wardell, Inspector General, Public Works Department and built by contractor George Cornwell. It is registered by the National Trust, and listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The associated Footscray Ammunition Factory was mostly demolished and redeveloped for the Delfin Lend Lease Corporation's Edgewater estate. Jack's Magazine was proposed to be redeveloped for a commercial use, but following several calls for expressions of interests it was decided that public ownership was the only practical management for the historic site. Jack's Magazine is now managed by Working Heritage – a committee appointed by the Victorian Government to manage heritage properties on Crown Land. In an interview on the SBS the local Peter Haffenden asserted that, from Jack's Magazine, "all the bullets, all the .303s bullets used in Gallipoli, in Egypt, in the Somme, in Amiens" were all made by the munition company, whose main factory was based at Jack's Magazine.

Middle Footscray railway station is located on the Sunbury line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Footscray, and it opened on 10 December 1906.In 1927, the station was moved about 160 metres west and reconstructed, to allow for the construction of the South Kensington – West Footscray goods line.Two dual gauge goods tracks operate north of the station, linking the Port of Melbourne and other freight terminals to the rest of the state. Since 1962, those tracks have formed part of the Melbourne – Sydney standard gauge line and, since 1995, have also formed part of the Melbourne – Adelaide standard gauge line. The Regional Rail Link lines operate to the south of the station.

The City of Footscray was a local government area about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 17.10 square kilometres (6.60 sq mi) and existed from 1859 until 1994. Its civic centre, after which it was named, was Footscray.
