Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. (WMF, also colloquially referred to as Wikimedia) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Francisco, California, registered as a foundation under US law. It owns and operates the Wikimedia projects.It was established in 2003 by Jimmy Wales as a way to fund Wikipedia and its sibling projects through non-profit means. As of 2021, it employs over 550 staff and contractors, with annual revenues in excess of US$150 million.

One Montgomery Tower (also known as Montgomery Tower and formerly Pacific Telesis Tower), part of the Post Montgomery Center complex, is an office skyscraper located at the northeast corner of Post and Kearny Streets in the financial district of San Francisco, California. The 500-foot (150-meter), 38-story tower was completed in 1982, and is connected to the Crocker Galleria mall. It houses around 2,500 office workers (as of 2019).Despite the "One Montgomery" branding, the building's main entrance is on 120 Kearny Street, rather than on Montgomery Street. The building's structural steel columns are covered by a facade consisting of red granite and square tempered glass windows with aluminum frames, with small squares marking the intersections of each block of four windows (except for the first two floors, which use black granite and steel) . The construction of the tower and Crocker Galleria in 1982 also involved the tearing down of the top ten floors of the adjacent Crocker Bank building on 1 Montgomery Street, with its new roof being converted into a privately-owned public open space (POPOS).

The Mechanics' Institute Chess Club is a chess club in San Francisco, California, United States. Hosted at the Mechanics' Institute, it is the oldest-continuously operating chess club in the United States.

88 Kearny Street is a class-A office high-rise on Kearny Street at the southeast intersection with Post Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. The Mechanics' Institute is a historic membership library, cultural event center, and chess club at 57 Post Street, San Francisco, California. It was founded in 1854, as a mechanics' institute, an educational and cultural institution, to serve the vocational needs of out-of-work gold miners. The institute today serves readers, writers, downtown employees, students, film lovers, chess players, and others.

One Post Street is a 38-story, 529 ft (161 m) office skyscraper located at 1 Post Street and Market Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, California, United States. The building is owned by Brookfield Properties. It served as headquarters for the McKesson Corporation until April 2019.Designed by architect Welton Becket, the building exemplified his penchant for repetitive geometric patterns and walls clad in natural stone. Landscape architect SWA Group's design for the busy triangular/flatiron site created an octagonal, two-tiered opening leading to a Bay Area Rapid Transit station, and flanked by trees, shops and a series of granite steps used for seating.In the soap opera The Young and the Restless, the building is featured as "Lakeview Towers", where numerous characters — beginning in 2012 with Victor Newman — have lived in either of two adjoining penthouse apartments. Its exterior can be seen (with identifying signage blurred out) in establishing shots for scenes set there, with One Montgomery Tower visible in the background. Since 2016, Devon Hamilton has lived in Penthouse 2. Neil Winters bought Penthouse 1 (then named "Penthouse A") in 2018 from the estate of Victor's son Adam Newman, who was incorrectly presumed dead. The Hallidie Building is an office building in the Financial District of San Francisco, California, at 130 Sutter Street, between Montgomery Street and Kearny Street. Designed by architect Willis Polk and named in honor of San Francisco cable car pioneer Andrew Smith Hallidie, it opened in 1918 and though credited as the first American building to feature glass curtain walls, it was in fact predated by Louis Curtiss's Boley Clothing Company building in Kansas City, Missouri, completed in 1909.The building underwent a two-year restoration, completed in April 2013, after its sheet metal friezes, cornices, balconies, and fire escapes were deemed unsafe by the City of San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection.The San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Architects has its offices in the Hallidie Building and is renovating the concrete street-level retail space, which predates the rest of the building, to add a gallery, lecture hall, and cafe, to open in 2021. The building also houses AIGA, the Center for Architecture + Design, Charles M. Salter Associates, Inc., and Coordinated Resources, Inc.

The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences is a 312-foot (95 m) luxury residential skyscraper in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. The residences are built atop the historic Old Chronicle Building, sometimes called the de Young Building, which was constructed in 1890. It is the first skyscraper built in California.

Save the Redwoods League is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and restore coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) and giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) trees through the preemptive purchase of development rights to notable areas with such forests. It relies on donations from private individuals as well as funding from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and investments to buy, restore, and provide public access to redwood forest lands. The League has protected more than 200,000 acres (810 km2) of forestland. As of 2018, the League has helped create 66 redwood parks and reserves, including Humboldt Redwoods State Park and Redwood National and State Parks.In addition to purchasing and protecting land, Save the Redwoods League supports restoration, research, and education programs, and gives small grants to other organizations involved in ecological conservation. Save the Redwoods League maintains and updates a website which offers information, photos, and progress reports.

Lotta's fountain is a fountain at the intersection of Market Street, where Geary and Kearny Streets connect in downtown San Francisco, California. It was commissioned by actress Lotta Crabtree in 1875 as a gift to the city of San Francisco, and would serve as a significant meeting point in the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.

Newspaper Row in San Francisco referred to the five-point intersection of Market Street, Kearny Street, Third Street and Geary Street, where three of San Francisco's largest daily newspapers were headquartered, across the street from each other. By 1902, The San Francisco Call, The San Francisco Examiner and the San Francisco Chronicle were in buildings on corners, with the Chronicle in the Chronicle Building, the Call in the Spreckels Building and the Examiner in the Examiner building. The intersection became known as the "Times Square of the West".
