Glassthorpe

Upper Heyford is a village and civil parish 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Northampton, just before Weedon, Northamptonshire, England, not to be confused with one of the same name some 30 miles away across the county border in Oxfordshire. It sat along the former A45 road until a bypass opened on 15 November 2018, and is close 0.5 miles (0.8 km) by road to the M1 London to Yorkshire motorway junction 16, 72 miles (116 km) north of London and 38 miles (61 km) southeast of Birmingham. The village of Nether Heyford, with which it shares a primary school, church and other facilities, is about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the south.

Nether Heyford is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, England, close to the M1 motorway and the A5 and A45 roads, 6 miles (10 km) west of Northampton and 70 miles (113 km) northwest of London. The smaller village of Upper Heyford is about half a mile to the north. Nether Heyford takes its name from 'Hay ford'. Alternatively, 'hedge ford' or enclosure ford'. In 1086, in the Domesday Book, the name is recorded as "Heiforde". The Post Office once called the village Lower Heyford, but the name was restored to Nether Heyford after reference to it in local deeds. The village is on the flood plain of the River Nene and used to be subjected to flooding, as Watery Lane suggests. In 1699, a Roman pavement was found in Harestone Meadow to the east of the village.

Bugbrooke Meadows is a 10.1-hectare (25-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Nether Heyford in Northamptonshire. One of the fields with an area of 1.7 hectares is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.These meadows on the bank of the River Nene which have not been treated with fertilisers, and they often flood in winter. They are probably unique in the county, and they have very diverse damp grassland flora such as jointed rush and greater pond sedge. There are ancient hedges which are important both historically and as a habitat for wildlife.There is access to the site from the Nene Way between Kislingbury and Nether Heyford, and by a footpath from Bugbrooke.

Flore (historically spelled as Floore) is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire in England. The village's name means 'Floor', perhaps referring to a Roman tessellated pavement. South of the neighbouring parish of Nether Heyford such a pavement has been unearthed. Alternatively, it may refer to the situation of the village in the valley bottom of the River Nene.The A45 road divided the upper part of the village from several older, lower streets until a bypass opened on 15 November 2018. The historical village of Glassthorpe lay in the vicinity. The population at the 2001 census was 1,221, falling to 1,194 at the 2011 census.The Grade II listed Flore House was built in 1608 for the Enyon family. The thatched cottage in Flore called Adams Cottage (location) is said to be the home of the ancestors of John Adams, the second President of the United States of America.

Nobottle is a hamlet in West Northamptonshire in England. The population is included in the civil parish of Brington. It borders the Althorp estate, which owns much of the property. Nobottle used to have a 600yd rifle range (the only one in Northamptonshire), now shut by the MOD some 20 years (local knowledge). The Midshires Way long distance footpath passes through Nobottle. A Roman building was excavated here in 1927-9 and a hoard of 814 coins found, spanning several hundred years, but mostly of the late 4th century.The hamlet's name means 'New building'. Nobottle is in Brington parish.With only 13 houses, about half a mile long, Nobottle is one of the smallest hamlets in England. However, Nobottle gave its name to a Saxon hundred, which at the time of Domesday Book (1086) was the location of the hundred court. In 1849 the Nobottle Hundred comprised 18 parishes, with 9,000 inhabitants, though the hamlet itself then only had 99 inhabitants.Nobottle is a place name in the Shire in the north west corner of the map on the front endpapers of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, although it is not known if the author borrowed the unusual name from the Northamptonshire hamlet; the Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey takes it that he did.

Flore House in Flore, Northamptonshire, is a country house of historical significance and is Grade II listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built in 1608 for the Enyon family and was the residence of notable people over the next four centuries. Today it provides guest accommodation and caters for special events including weddings.

Stowe Hill Tunnel is a railway tunnel on the West Coast Main Line just south of the village of Weedon, Northamptonshire, England. The tunnel runs in a straight line underneath the A5 main road between Weedon and Towcester from about northwest to southeast. The tunnel has a single bore with twin tracks and is 491 yards (449 m) long. The next station southbound is Wolverton and northbound Rugby. The tunnel was opened in 1838 as a part of the London and Birmingham Railway. During the 2000s, in preparation for the introduction of the British Rail Class 390 tilting trains, which would enable regular operating speeds of 125 miles per hour (201 kilometres per hour) along this section of the line, it was determined that the Stowe Hill tunnel would, without modification, cause such pressure changes to trains traversing it at high speed as to exceed passenger comfort levels. Accordingly, modifications to the tunnel were made in the form of four vertical pressure relief shafts being installed to provide sufficient mitigation; additional land around these new shafts was acquired, in some cases using compulsory purchase orders.The tunnel was close to the site of the Weedon rail crashes in 1915 and 1951 in which a total of 25 people died, though was unconnected with the cause of either.

Campion School is a co-educational secondary school in Bugbrooke, about 6 miles (10 km) from Northampton, Northamptonshire. Founded in 1969, it became a Language College in September 1997, and in 2011 the school became an academy. The school had 1397 students on roll for the 2014-2015 school year, with 71 teaching staff and 19 teaching assistants. In 2020 the school had 1738 students on roll, 69 Teaching staff and 21 teaching assistants. On 1st September 2023, Campion School & Language College became part of the United Learning Trust.
