Tomen yr Allt (or Domen yr Allt) was a Medieval motte and bailey defensive castle near Llanfyllin in Powys, Wales. "Tomen ar hallt" is modern Welsh for "mound on the wooded hillside."

Llanfyllin (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˈvəɬɪn] – audio ) is a market town and community in Powys, Wales. The town population in 2021 was 1,586 and the town's name means church or parish (llan) of St Myllin ('m' frequently mutates to 'f' in Welsh). The community includes the settlements of Bodfach, Ty Crwyn, Abernaint and several farms.

Llanfyllin High School (Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin) is a bilingual secondary school situated in the mid-Wales town of Llanfyllin. It currently has around 1000 pupils drawn from the town and the surrounding area. About a quarter of the pupils live across the English border in Shropshire.As a bilingual school, Llanfyllin High School has a Welsh language stream in which most subjects are taught in Welsh, and an English language stream in which most subjects are taught in English. Some courses are taught bilingually. About 19% of pupils have Welsh as their first language. A group of pupils in years 6 to 9 participate in a project named Trochi (Immersion) to increase their fluency in Welsh and allow them to transfer to the Welsh language stream.The school closed in 2020 after many years of success. To be reopened the following school year, September 2020 as Ysgol Llanfyllin; a new age 3 to 18 years school. Merging Llanfyllin C.P. School and Llanfyllin High School, over 2 campuses.

Llanfyllin railway station is the former terminal station of the Llanfyllin Branch of Cambrian Railways, which served the town of Llanfyllin in Powys, Wales. The whole line opened from Llanymynech via Llansantffraid, Llanfechain and Bryngwyn in 1863, to enable access to the limestone quarries along the Llanfyllin valley. After leaving Llanymynech station, the LB crossed the Ellesmere Canal and travelled due west to Llanfyllin. The former CR mainline from Oswestry to Welshpool closed in 1965, and so also the branchline to Llanfyllin, under British Railways' Beeching Axe. The goods shed and station survive, albeit as part of the industrial estate which now occupies the old station site. The street leading to it is still called Station Road.

The Lonely Tree was a Scots pine on a hill near Llanfyllin, Powys, Wales. Visible from much of the town it was a local landmark with several traditions attached to it. The tree was blown over during a storm in February 2014, and despite efforts to save it, the tree was found to be dead in June 2015. The tree was voted Welsh Tree of the Year for 2014 and finished tenth in the European Tree of the Year awards for 2015. Seventeen saplings have been planted nearby in the hope that one will grow to replace the tree.

The Afon Iwrch is a river near Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Clwyd, Wales. It is a tributary of the River Tanat and is 8.9 miles (14.4 km) in length. Its headwaters lie on the eastern slopes of Cadair Berwyn, the highest peak of the Berwyn range, and the river flows broadly southeastwards to join the River Tanat, itself a tributary of the River Vyrnwy.

Llanrhaiadr Mochnant railway station was a station near Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Powys, Wales, on the Tanat Valley Light Railway. The station opened in 1904 and closed to passengers in 1951 and completely in 1964. The station was situated a mile south-east of the village and on the west side of a level crossing. It had two platforms and a passing loop as well as sidings to a goods yard and cattle dock.

The River Rhaeadr (Welsh: Afon Rhaeadr) is a river in Wales. It starts at the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall a few miles from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, where the Afon Disgynfa falls over a 240-foot (73 m) cliff-face, after which the river is known as the Afon Rhaeadr. Downstream, the Afon Rhaeadr runs into the Afon Tanat.

Pedairffordd Halt railway station (alternatively Pedair-Ffordd Halt) was a station on the Tanat Valley Light Railway, located 1.3 miles south of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Powys, Wales in the hamlet Pedair-Ffordd. The station opened in 1904 and closed in 1951. There station was located on the east side of a level crossing.

Pentrefelin railway station was a station on the Tanat Valley Light Railway, located two miles south-east of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Powys, Wales serving the hamlet of Pentrefelin. The station opened in 1904 and formally closed in 1951. The platform was located to the east of a level crossing on a minor road to Glantanat Isaf. The platform had a corrugated iron shelter, lamps and a nameboard. There was a goods loop on the north side of the line. The platform is still extant on farmland.
