Stierop is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Castricum, and lies about 9 km south of Alkmaar. Until 1 January 2002, Stierop belonged to the municipality of Akersloot. Stierop has about 20 inhabitants.

Markenbinnen is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Alkmaar, and lies about 10 km north of Zaandam. The village was first mentioned in 1395 or 1396 as Marken, and means "border line". It was earlier located on a little island. "Binnen" (inside) has been added to distinguish from Marken. Markenbinnen developed in the Late Middle Ages as a peat excavation settlement. Around 1644, the Markervaart was dug separating the Markerpolder from the Oostwouderpolder.The Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church with wooden tower built 1704 as a replacement for its medieval predecessor. Markenbinnen was home to 183 people in 1840.The Fort Marken-Binnen was constructed as part of the Stelling van Amsterdam and was completed in 1905. It was used during World War I and II as barracks, but became military obsolete after the World War II.

West-Graftdijk is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Alkmaar, and lies about 10 km south of the city of Alkmaar. The village has a small historical church, and to the north there is the bird area Eilandspolder.

The name literally means Three houses, and was first mentioned in 1639.Driehuizen developed on the former island of Schermereiland. According to legend, there were three houses in 1603. After the Schermer was poldered in 1635, it received a road connection to Zuidschermer. Driehuizen was home to 156 people in 1840.The former Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church with wooden tower which was built in 1912 as a replacement of the 1648 church. It is nowadays used as village house.

Akersloot is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Castricum, and lies about 9 km south of Alkmaar. Until 1 January 2002, Akersloot was a separate municipality. The oldest name for Akersloot was Axmericota, meaning "Oak Forest at the Sea". In the years between 1250 and 1400, Akersloot gained the title "capital village of Kennemerland". Limmen was the second village in Kennermerland in prestige. In 1276 the people of Akersloot regained their rights and privileges from Count Floris V due to their bravery in the struggle against the Frisians. These privileges were removed by their former lord, the count of Holland, in the early 13th century because they rebelled against him. Akersloot was razed in October 1573 by retreating Spaniards after the siege of Alkmaar. Several residences and other buildings were burnt to ashes. After the 80-year war trade bloomed. Even seafaring and fishery was part of the Akersloot economy. The Akersloot of today was isolated for a long time. Communication with the outer world was maintained through salon boats of the Alkmaar Packet. After the liberation good bus connections gradually emerged. Akersloot gained a yachting harbor, which now is one of the major ones on the Alkmaardermeer. A bastion in Galle Fort in Sri Lanka is named Akersloot Bastion which was the birthplace of Willem Jacobszoon Coster who overtook Galle from Protuguess on 13 March 1640.

Krommenie (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌkrɔməˈni]) is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zaanstad, and lies about 15 km northeast of Haarlem.

Boekel is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Castricum, and lies about 5 km south of Alkmaar. Until January 1, 2002, Boekel belonged to the municipality of Akersloot. It had a population of about 10 in 2001.Boekel is located on the west bank of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, a castle was located here, also called "Boekel". It was destroyed by the Spanish army during the siege of Alkmaar, on October 3, 1574.

The Fort along Den Ham is a fort that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Stelling van Amsterdam. It's located along the railroad from Uitgeest to Krommenie. The earthen walls date from 1896, the fort itself was finished in 1903. The fort was only used very briefly, during the First World War.
