Krommenie-Assendelft is a railway station in Krommenie and Assendelft, Netherlands. The station lies on the Den Helder–Amsterdam railway, and was opened on 1 November 1869. The station had a goods yard, but no longer does. The station had remained unchanged since 1975 until 2006. The station began being moved in 2006, further west, closer to the Saendelft estate. This new station opened on 14 December 2008.

The SolaRoad was the world's first bike path made from solar panels, and was a prototype project testing the feasibility of various proposals for smart highways. The 72-metre (236 ft) path opened in the week of 21 October 2014, and was designed by a consortium of organizations, which built the pathway in Krommenie, Netherlands.The path was formally opened in November 2014 by the Dutch Minister of Energy Henk Kamp.By January 2020, extensive damage was apparent on the path, which had led to the installation of a sign warning of 'Bad Road Surface' (Dutch: Slecht Wegdek). The path was removed in November 2020 and is considered a failure.

Uitgeest railway station is located in Uitgeest, the Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1867 at the junction of the Den Helder–Amsterdam and the Haarlem–Uitgeest railways. A new station building was opened in 2006. The station has 3 platforms.

Assendelft (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɑsə(n)ˈdɛl(ə)ft]) is a town in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Zaanstad. Assendelft was a separate municipality until 1974, when the municipality of Zaanstad was formed. However, Assendelft didn't want to be part of Zaanstad and pled together with Krommenie to be part of a new municipality called Assendelft-Krommenie. Zaanstad is part of the Amsterdam Agglomeration (GA).The North Sea Canal connects Assendelft with Amsterdam and Velsen, and it lies about 13 km northeast of Haarlem and about 15 km south of Alkmaar.

Assum is a hamlet in the municipality of Uitgeest in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. The hamlet of Assum was originally an independent village but has now been absorbed by the larger Uitgeest. Assum is located between Uitgeest and Heemskerk. Due to this original independence, this place name can still be found in place name registers and, for example, the telephone directory on the internet. Assum consists of approximately 70 homes, including a number of agricultural farm homes. Until about 1990, Assum was situated in an agricultural area. Due to the growth of Uitgeest with the Kleis and Waldijk districts, the buildings of Uitgeest are approaching the hamlet of Assum. The nearby Slot Assumburg is named after the hamlet.

It is located west of Zaandam, Koog aan de Zaan and Zaandijk, southwest of Wormer, southeast of Krommenie and south and southeast of Assendelft.Westzaan developed in the 12th century as a peat excavation settlement. The Dutch Reformed church is a cruciform church with quarter round extensions in each corner. It was built between 1740 and 1741 and designed by Jan van der Streng. Originally the 1573 tower from the old church was retained, but it collapsed in 1843.Westzaan was a separate municipality until 1974, when it became a part of Zaanstad.Westzaan has the only wind powered paper mill in the world.

Stierop is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Castricum, and lies about 9 km south of Alkmaar. Until 1 January 2002, Stierop belonged to the municipality of Akersloot. Stierop has about 20 inhabitants.
