Etna, originally named "Mill Village", is a small community within the town of Hanover, New Hampshire, in the United States. It is located in southwestern Grafton County, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Hanover's downtown and 2.5 mi (4.0 km) south of the village of Hanover Center, on Mink Brook. Etna has a separate ZIP code 03750 from the rest of Hanover, as well as its own fire station, general store, ball field, playground, church, and library with adjacent conserved land and bird sanctuary. The population within Etna's ZIP Code area was 870 at the 2010 census.Commerce revolves around the Etna General Store and the Etna Post Office. The Appalachian Trail passes a mile or so north of the village before it turns northeast to cross Moose Mountain on its way to Lyme. Etna can be accessed from NH Rt. 120 via Greensboro Road or Great Hollow Road (Etna Road, north of the Lebanon exit (number 18) from Interstate 89), or from Hanover via Trescott Road (E. Wheelock Street). Etna was the site of the 2001 murders of Dartmouth College professors Half and Susanne Zantop, dubbed the Dartmouth Murders.

On January 27, 2001, Dartmouth College professors Half and Susanne Zantop, aged 62 and 55 respectively, were stabbed to death at their home in Etna, New Hampshire. Originally from Germany, the couple had been teaching at Dartmouth since the 1970s. High school classmates James J. Parker, age 16, and Robert W. Tulloch, age 17, were charged with first-degree murder.Parker pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against Tulloch, and was sentenced to 25 to life. Tulloch pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without parole. In 2014 the New Hampshire Supreme Court ordered Tulloch's sentence reviewed.

The Great Hollow Road Stone Arch Bridge (also known as the Etna Stone Bridge) is a historic stone arch bridge carrying Great Hollow Road over Mink Brook in Hanover, New Hampshire. Built by the town in 1914, it is one of two stone bridges in the town, and a finely crafted and little-altered example of stone masonry of the period. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

WUVR (1490 AM) is a radio station licensed to Lebanon, New Hampshire and serves the Lebanon-Hanover-White River Junction area. It broadcasts a news/talk format and is owned by Robert and John Landry, through licensee Sugar River Media, LLC.

Lebanon High School is the sole high school in the Lebanon School District (SAU 88) in New Hampshire. Ranging from grades 9–12, students are from the city of Lebanon and the towns of Grantham, Plainfield and Cornish.The mascot for the LHS Raiders is commonly called the "Raider Bird."

The Ompompanoosuc River is a river, about 25 mi (40 km) long, in eastern Vermont in the United States. It is a tributary of the Connecticut River, which flows to Long Island Sound. According to the Geographic Names Information System, the river has also been known by the names "Om-pom-pa-noos-uc" and "Pompanoosuc."The Ompompanoosuc River rises in eastern Orange County in the town of Vershire, and flows generally southwardly through the towns of West Fairlee and Thetford into northeastern Windsor County, where it joins the Connecticut River in the village of Pompanoosuc which is located in the town of Norwich.In Thetford, the river is dammed by the Union Village Dam, which was built from 1946 to 1950 as part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project for flood control. The structure is a 170-foot-high earthen dam, creating a seasonal lake in the winter.The West Branch Ompompanoosuc River flows generally southeastwardly through the towns of Vershire and Strafford to Thetford, where it joins the main stem of the river.

Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the flagship campus of the Dartmouth Health system, is the U.S. state of New Hampshire's only academic medical center. DHMC is a 486-inpatient bed hospital and serves as a major tertiary-care referral site for patients throughout northern New England. As an academic medical center, DHMC offers primary, specialty and subspecialty care as well as education and research in partnership with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, one of America's oldest medical schools, as well as the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. It is headquartered in Lebanon, New Hampshire on a 225-acre (91 ha) campus in the heart of the Upper Connecticut River Valley and employs more than 8,000 employees. DHMC is New Hampshire's only Level I Trauma Center, one of only three in northern New England, and it includes New Hampshire's only air ambulance service. DHMC is one of 20 members of the New England Alliance for Health, a regional network of hospitals and other health care organizations in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Scully–Fahey Field is a lacrosse venue located on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is the home field of the Dartmouth men's and women's lacrosse teams. It was built in 2000 with an AstroTurf surface at a cost of $4.4 million. It measures 86,400 square feet (8,030 m2) and has a capacity for 1,600 spectators. This was replaced with a more grass-like FieldTurf surface in 2009.The field is named in honor of Donald Scully and Peter Fahey. Scully graduated from Dartmouth in 1949 and played on its lacrosse and soccer teams, and was a two-time USILA All-American with 107 career goals to his credit. Fahey received his undergraduate degree in 1968 and a graduate degree from the Thayer School of Engineering in 1970, and played basketball and competed in track at the school.

WDCR (1340 AM) was a college radio station that operated at Dartmouth College for over fifty years. During this time, it underwent several format changes, from news to Top-40 to alternative music and in the end, oldies. Licensed to Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, the station served Hanover and the greater Upper Valley area. The station carried broadcasts of several Dartmouth College sports teams in association with the Dartmouth Sports Network, a division of Dartmouth Broadcasting. The station's license was held by the Board of Trustees of Dartmouth College.

Lebanon locally is the only city in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 14,282 at the 2020 census, up from 13,151 at the 2010 census. Lebanon is in western New Hampshire, south of Hanover, near the Connecticut River. It is the home to Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College's Geisel School of Medicine, together comprising the largest medical facility between Boston, Massachusetts, and Burlington, Vermont. Together with Hanover, New Hampshire, and White River Junction, Vermont, Lebanon is at the center of a Micropolitan Statistical Area, encompassing nearly 30 towns along the upper Connecticut River valley.

The Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) is a United States Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center research facility headquartered in Hanover, New Hampshire, that provides scientific and engineering support to the U.S. government and its military with a core emphasis on cold environments. CRREL also provides technical support to non-government customers. CRREL arose from a consolidation of three antecedent organizations whose purpose was to understand frozen ground, permafrost, snow and ice as factors which were important in strategic northern areas during the Cold War. In its first 25 years CRREL researchers contributed to the understanding of polar ice caps, permafrost, and the engineering technology for developing natural resources in cold climates, such as Alaska. More recently, CRREL researchers have made contributions to science in climate change, the understanding of wave propagation for sensor systems, the control of snow on structures and ice in navigable waterways, and the environmental remediation of military installations.

Rupert C. Thompson Arena is a 3,500-seat hockey arena in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is home to the Dartmouth College Big Green men's and women's ice hockey teams. The barrel-vaulted, reinforced concrete arena was designed by renowned architect Pier Luigi Nervi. It was named for Rupert C. Thompson '28, the major benefactor of the project, and replaced Davis Rink, the original "indoor" home of Dartmouth hockey from 1929 to 1975. (Davis Rink, which was located next to old Alumni Gym, was demolished in 1985 to make way for the Berry Sports Center.)
