Etna, New Hampshire

The Hanover Town Library, more commonly known as the Etna Library, is a historic library located at 130 Etna Road in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States. It primarily serves the Etna section of the town; the Classical Revival building it occupies was the first purpose-built library building in the town, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a modest brick building, designed by Dartmouth College professor Robert E. Fletcher and built in 1905.

On January 27, 2001, Dartmouth College professors Half and Susanne Zantop, aged 62 and 55 respectively, were stabbed to death at their home in Etna, New Hampshire. Originally from Germany, the couple had been teaching at Dartmouth since the 1970s. High school classmates James J. Parker, age 16, and Robert W. Tulloch, age 17, were charged with first-degree murder.Parker pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against Tulloch, and was sentenced to 25 to life. Tulloch pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without parole. In 2014 the New Hampshire Supreme Court ordered Tulloch's sentence reviewed.

The Great Hollow Road Stone Arch Bridge (also known as the Etna Stone Bridge) is a historic stone arch bridge carrying Great Hollow Road over Mink Brook in Hanover, New Hampshire. Built by the town in 1914, it is one of two stone bridges in the town, and a finely crafted and little-altered example of stone masonry of the period. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

WUVR (1490 AM) is a radio station licensed to Lebanon, New Hampshire and serves the Lebanon-Hanover-White River Junction area. It broadcasts a news/talk format and is owned by Robert and John Landry, through licensee Sugar River Media, LLC.

Lebanon High School is the sole high school in the Lebanon School District (SAU 88) in New Hampshire. Ranging from grades 9–12, students are from the city of Lebanon and the towns of Grantham, Plainfield and Cornish.The mascot for the LHS Raiders is commonly called the "Raider Bird."

Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the flagship campus of the Dartmouth Health system, is the U.S. state of New Hampshire's only academic medical center. DHMC is a 486-inpatient bed hospital and serves as a major tertiary-care referral site for patients throughout northern New England. As an academic medical center, DHMC offers primary, specialty and subspecialty care as well as education and research in partnership with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, one of America's oldest medical schools, as well as the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. It is headquartered in Lebanon, New Hampshire on a 225-acre (91 ha) campus in the heart of the Upper Connecticut River Valley and employs more than 8,000 employees. DHMC is New Hampshire's only Level I Trauma Center, one of only three in northern New England, and it includes New Hampshire's only air ambulance service. DHMC is one of 20 members of the New England Alliance for Health, a regional network of hospitals and other health care organizations in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Scully–Fahey Field is a lacrosse venue located on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is the home field of the Dartmouth men's and women's lacrosse teams. It was built in 2000 with an AstroTurf surface at a cost of $4.4 million. It measures 86,400 square feet (8,030 m2) and has a capacity for 1,600 spectators. This was replaced with a more grass-like FieldTurf surface in 2009.The field is named in honor of Donald Scully and Peter Fahey. Scully graduated from Dartmouth in 1949 and played on its lacrosse and soccer teams, and was a two-time USILA All-American with 107 career goals to his credit. Fahey received his undergraduate degree in 1968 and a graduate degree from the Thayer School of Engineering in 1970, and played basketball and competed in track at the school.

WDCR (1340 AM) was a college radio station that operated at Dartmouth College for over fifty years. During this time, it underwent several format changes, from news to Top-40 to alternative music and in the end, oldies. Licensed to Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, the station served Hanover and the greater Upper Valley area. The station carried broadcasts of several Dartmouth College sports teams in association with the Dartmouth Sports Network, a division of Dartmouth Broadcasting. The station's license was held by the Board of Trustees of Dartmouth College.

Lebanon locally is the only city in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 14,282 at the 2020 census, up from 13,151 at the 2010 census. Lebanon is in western New Hampshire, south of Hanover, near the Connecticut River. It is the home to Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College's Geisel School of Medicine, together comprising the largest medical facility between Boston, Massachusetts, and Burlington, Vermont. Together with Hanover, New Hampshire, and White River Junction, Vermont, Lebanon is at the center of a Micropolitan Statistical Area, encompassing nearly 30 towns along the upper Connecticut River valley.

Rupert C. Thompson Arena is a 3,500-seat hockey arena in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is home to the Dartmouth College Big Green men's and women's ice hockey teams. The barrel-vaulted, reinforced concrete arena was designed by renowned architect Pier Luigi Nervi. It was named for Rupert C. Thompson '28, the major benefactor of the project, and replaced Davis Rink, the original "indoor" home of Dartmouth hockey from 1929 to 1975. (Davis Rink, which was located next to old Alumni Gym, was demolished in 1985 to make way for the Berry Sports Center.)

Lebanon College was a two-year private not-for-profit college located in Lebanon, New Hampshire. It was founded in 1956, and closed in 2014, due to financial difficulties. In 2015 Lebanon College facilities and certain programs were purchased by the public community college system of New Hampshire. After renovations to the main academic building, the Lebanon campus of River Valley Community College opened in January 2016. Lebanon College had been approved by the New Hampshire Post-secondary Commission to offer the associate degree, and was certified by the State of Vermont Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary, to offer programs and courses in that state. The college was accredited by the American Council of Independent Schools and Colleges (ACICS). The Radiography Program at Lebanon College was accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education In Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

The Colburn Park Historic District encompasses the heart of Lebanon, New Hampshire. It consists of Colburn Park, a large rectangular park in the center of the city, the buildings that are arrayed around it, and several 19th century buildings that are immediately adjacent to those. The district covers 12 acres (4.9 ha), and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.Colburn Park is located a short way south and east of the Mascoma River, whose generally east–west route is interrupted by a semicircular bend to the north, within which lies the center of Lebanon. The park's origin is in 1792, when the land was donated by Robert Colburn as the site of the community's meeting house (church and town hall). Arterial roads were built to the area, and it began to develop as a commercial and civic center in the early 19th century. The Greek Revival First Congregational Church, designed by Ammi Burnham Young, was built in 1828, and a few early houses survive. The meeting house was moved in 1849 to the present location of City Hall.Lebanon's central business district was struck by devastating fire in 1887, in which more than 80 buildings were destroyed. This did not directly affect the area around the park, but Lebanon's population continued to grow, and the business district expanded, resulting in the relocation of houses around the park, and the construction of a number of Victorian buildings around its perimeter. After the 1923 destruction by fire of the town hall, the area acquired a somewhat unified late-19th to early-20th century commercial and civic architecture.
