Ladysmith Harbour

Ladysmith station is a former railway station in Ladysmith, British Columbia. It was a flag stop on Via Rail's Dayliner service, from 1979 to 2011. While the station's condition has deteriorated significantly since service was indefinitely suspended, volunteers continue to perform basic maintenance the station as of September 2019.

Ladysmith, originally Oyster Harbour, is a town located on the 49th parallel north on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The local economy is based on forestry, tourism, and agriculture. A hillside location adjacent to a sheltered harbour forms the natural geography of the community. As of 2021, the population was 8,990. The area of the town was 12.04 square kilometres. Total private dwellings were 4,079. Population density was 746.5 people per square kilometre. Ladysmith is served by the coast-spanning Island Highway, the Island Rail Corridor, nearby Nanaimo Airport and BC Ferries.

Saltair is an unincorporated community with a population of 2,325 on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, or the Georgia Strait. It is a predominantly rural community located between the urban centers of Ladysmith and Chemainus. Saltair is within the Cowichan Valley Regional District. It is home to a number of parks: Stocking Creek Park, Diana, Princess of Wales Wilderness Park, and Saltair Centennial Park. In part, Saltair is a community of artists, scenery and farmland. Stuart Channel is a strait in the Gulf Islands region of the Gulf of Georgia, separating Vancouver Island on the west from Thetis, DeCourcy and Penelakut (Kuper) Islands on the east. Ladysmith Harbour and the town of Chemainus face onto it from Vancouver Island. It is crossed by a BC Ferries route serving Thetis and Penelakut Islands.

Roberts Memorial Provincial Park is a 14 ha provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located 15 km south of Nanaimo. A cairn at the park head states, "Donated by May Vaughan Roberts in loving memory of her husband, O.D. Roberts and daughter, Joan Roberts Morgan. Established May 22, 1980".

Nanaimo/Quennell Lake Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CBQ9) is an aerodrome located on Quennell Lake, 10 nautical miles (19 km; 12 mi) southeast of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.

Quennell Lake is a lake located the eastern side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located between Ladysmith and Nanaimo in the area of Yellow Point. The lake is used extensively for recreational activities including swimming, canoeing, and fishing. The lake and surrounding wetlands are home to a wide range of birds and mature Douglas fir forest, and is considered a fragile ecosystem.

Nanaimo Airport (IATA: YCD, ICAO: CYCD) is a privately owned and operated regional airport located 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 mi) south southeast of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. In 1999, the air terminal was named in honour of World War I ace Raymond Collishaw who was born in Nanaimo. The Nanaimo-Collishaw Air Terminal is the passenger terminal for the airport. The Nanaimo Airport currently has only one available runway for instrument flight rules (IFR) conditions, runway 16. This is because the approach to the north-facing runway (runway 34) is a dogleg approach that follows the Ladysmith Harbour.

Chemainus Secondary is a public high school in Chemainus, British Columbia part of School District 79 Cowichan Valley. It was founded in 1953 and serves students from the area around Chemainus, Crofton, Thetis Island and southern Saltair, British Columbia. There are approximately 360 students at the school, the majority of whom are Caucasian, but with many nearby Aboriginal Reserves there is a sizeable First Nations minority. Also, about 30-35 students from Asia, mainly Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong are enrolled. From 2003 until 2005 the school went through a major renovation, updating many facilities. The library has been twice received Times Colonist Raise a Reader Grants. The first in 2008–9, for $1,400, was directed to Science reading materials. In 2009–10, the school received $1,200 for audio books and the companion novels.

Cassidy is an unincorporated community straddling Haslam Creek. near the east coast of southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The location on BC Highway 19 is about 98 kilometres (61 mi) by road north-west of Victoria, and 14 kilometres (9 mi) south of Nanaimo. The area is served by the coast-spanning Island Highway, the Island Rail Corridor, and the Nanaimo Airport.
