Oadby

Lucas Marsh is a 1.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Oadby in Leicestershire. It is part of Brock's Hill Country Park, and is owned by Oadby and Wigston Borough Council and managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.The marsh is dominated by greater willowherb and common reed, while there are also areas of rough grassland, a hedge, trees and scrub. Butterflies include small tortoiseshell, speckled wood, peacock and orange tip.There is access by a footpath from Washbrook Lane.

The Beauchamp College ( BEE-chəm) is a coeducational secondary school and further education community college, in Oadby, a town on the outskirts of Leicester, England. It is situated on the southern edge of the built-up area of Oadby on the same campus as Gartree High School and Brocks Hill Primary School. It is the only Oadby school to offer a pathway of 11–19, with students joining in Year 7 and progressing through to GCSE and then Level 3 courses at KS5. It was rated top state secondary in the Leicester Mercury Real Schools Guide in 2017. However, now it has dropped in ranking as well as Ofsted ranking from previously being “Outstanding” to “Good”

Gartree High School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status. Its age-range designation is 11–16. GCSEs have been taught since 2017 and its first GCSE results published in 2019. The school is situated in Oadby, a town on the south side of Leicester, England. Notable former pupils include rock legend John Deacon of Queen. The school's mission statement is: "Aspiring to personal excellence in a supportive community".

Manor High School is a school with academy status for boys and girls, aged 11 to 16 years (school years 7 to 11). The school serves a suburban area to the south of the City of Leicester, although it falls outside the city's administrative boundaries, within the district of Oadby and Wigston in Leicestershire. Stoughton Grange was a country house in the parish of Stoughton in Leicestershire and the family seat of the Farnham and Beaumont family. The house dated back to 15th century but was demolished in 1926, after being a successful family home for over five hundred years.

The University of Leicester Harold Martin Botanic Garden is a botanic garden close to the halls of residence for the University of Leicester in Oadby, Leicestershire, England. Founded in 1921, the garden was established on the present 16-acre (65,000 m2) site in 1947. The garden is used for research and teaching purposes by the university's Genetics (formerly Biology) Department and features events such as sculpture and art exhibitions, music performances and plant sales. It is open to the public. The gardens surround several Edwardian era houses which are now part of Leicester University's halls of residence, including Beaumont House, The Knoll, and Southmeade. The Attenborough Arboretum is a 5-acre (20,000 m2) satellite in the old village of Knighton (absorbed by Leicester city). It is named after Frederick Attenborough and was opened on 23 April 1997 by his son, Sir David Attenborough. It is managed as a wild site with native trees, ponds and a ridge and furrow field.

Leicester Racecourse is a horse racing course in Oadby, Leicestershire, about three miles south of the city centre.

Oadby and Wigston is a local government district with borough status in Leicestershire, England. It covers the two towns of Oadby, where the council is based, and Wigston, which is the larger town. Both form part of the Leicester urban area, lying south-east of the city. The neighbouring districts are Leicester, Harborough and Blaby.

Leicester High School for Girls also known as 'LHS' is an independent day school for girls aged 3–18 situated in South Knighton, Leicester. It was originally a coeducational school but is now an all-girls school.

Wigston, or Wigston Magna, is a town in the Oadby and Wigston district of Leicestershire, England, just south of Leicester on the A5199. It had a population of 32,321 in 2011.

Stoughton ( ) is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire. The population at the 2011 census was 351.Stoughton is east of Leicester, in countryside between two protrusions of the Leicester urban area (Thurnby to the north and Oadby to the south). The closest part of the city of Leicester is Evington. Other nearby places are Houghton on the Hill and Great Stretton. The parish church of St Mary and All Saints contains monuments to members of the Farnham and Beaumont families. Stoughton Grange was the principal grange or farm of Leicester Abbey. After the suppression of the abbey in 1538 it passed to the Farnhams. Leicester Airport is close to the village; Stoughton Farm Park (formerly Stoughton Grange Farm), which was closed following the foot-and-mouth crisis and now houses a number of small businesses, is nearby. In 2008, the airport and adjacent land was the subject of a proposal to build an eco-town of some 15,000 to 20,000 new homes, with the provisional name of Pennbury.
