Manor High School is a school with academy status for boys and girls, aged 11 to 16 years (school years 7 to 11). The school serves a suburban area to the south of the City of Leicester, although it falls outside the city's administrative boundaries, within the district of Oadby and Wigston in Leicestershire. The school has specialist technology status.

Stoughton Grange was a country house in the parish of Stoughton in Leicestershire and the family seat of the Farnham and Beaumont family. The house dated back to 15th century but was demolished in 1926, after being a successful family home for over five hundred years.

Pennbury was the working name given to a proposed eco-town of 15,000 to 20,000 new homes intended to be built on Leicester Airport, four miles from the centre of Leicester. On 16 July 2009, Housing Minister John Healey announced that the Pennbury project would not go ahead.The site is in the Harborough district council area and straddles the Harborough parliamentary constituency where the then-MP was Edward Garnier, and the Rutland and Melton parliamentary constituency where the then-MP was Alan Duncan. The proposal was submitted by the Co-operative Group and English Partnerships and aroused local opposition on many grounds including destruction of the countryside and the traffic it would generate. On 29 January 2008 Edward Garnier spoke to the adjournment in parliament and was supported by other local MPs from both sides of the house in expression of their concerns about the secrecy evident in the process of shortlisting. On 3 April, 2008, it was announced that the Pennbury proposal was one of fifteen sites shortlisted by Communities and Local Government (CLG) for the next phase of public consultations. CLG's consultation paper on the shortlisted sites reported that the site would "create a largely freestanding community, but linked to Leicester" and accommodate 12,000 to 15,000 homes in a development of 750 hectares.

Krishna Avanti Primary School, Leicester is a Hindu faith primary school in Leicester, United Kingdom that is part of the Avanti Schools Trust. It was the first state-funded Hindu school in Leicester. The school is open to students of Hindu background, but half (50%) of places available in the school are also reserved for local students of various faith backgrounds. The school is based at Evington Hall, a Grade II listed building, built about 1840, which in the past was a convent school, then part of Leicester Junior Grammar School.

Thurnby and Scraptoft railway station was a railway station in Thurnby, Leicestershire on the Great Northern Railway Leicester branch. Thurnby & Scraptoft railway station was situated approximately four miles east of Leicester Belgrave Road station.

Evington is an area of Leicester, and electoral ward of the Leicester district, in the ceremonial county of Leicestershire, England. It used to be a small village centred on Main Street and the Anglican church of St Denys but was close enough to Leicester to become one of the outer suburbs in the 1930s. Today, the ward comprises the historical village of Evington, as well as the modern ex-council estates of Rowlatts Hill and Goodwood. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 11,133.

Leicester Nirvana Football Club is a football club based in the Hamilton area of Leicester in Leicestershire. Formed in 2008 by a merger of Thurnby Rangers and Leicester Nirvana, they are currently members of the United Counties League Premier Division South and play at Hamilton Park.

Thurnby is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Thurnby and Bushby, in the Harborough district, in the county of Leicestershire, England. It is just east of Leicester's city boundaries. Thurnby village proper is set to the south of the A47, just after it leaves the city. A sister village, Bushby lies just to the east and merges into it. To the west is Evington and Thurnby Lodge in Leicester proper, to the north is Scraptoft and to the south and east are open countryside – the next villages in these directions are Stoughton and Houghton on the Hill.

Thurnby and Bushby, sometimes known as Thurnby, is a civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 3,147, increasing to 3,301 at the 2011 census.
