Vancouver Community Library

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries is a public library system in southwestern Washington state. The library district was established in 1950 as the first inter-county rural library district in Washington. The district has grown since 1950 to serve all of Clark (except the City of Camas, which funds its own Camas Public Library), Skamania and Klickitat Counties, and the city of Woodland and the independent Yale Valley Library District in Cowlitz County. With fifteen library service locations, two bookmobiles, district Headquarters located in Vancouver, and a wealth of online services, Fort Vancouver Regional Library District provides information resources and services, and community and cultural events for a population of more than 464,000 residents. The service area is more than 4,200 square miles (11,000 km2) and includes farm, open range and national forest lands, communities along the Columbia River, small towns and expanding urban and industrial areas. The collection for the district includes more than 750,000 volumes, including books and eBooks, magazines and eMagazines, DVDs, audio book CDs and eAudio, and streaming video.

Officers Row, a part of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve Historic District, is a congregation of 21 of the former homes of U.S. military officers stationed at the Vancouver Barracks in Vancouver, Washington. The oldest of the homes, named the Grant House (after Ulysses S. Grant, who was stationed at the barracks as a Captain at that time but never lived in the house), dates from 1846, and the last edifice was constructed in 1906. In the 1970s a grassroots campaign to refurbish the dilapidated properties began to appear, and the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. In 1980, the U.S. Army declared it a surplus, and it was henceforth deeded to the city for one dollar. A $10.9 million rehabilitation effort proceeded in 1987. Today these homes have been fully restored, and now house several commercial and 34 residential rental spaces.

The Firsts Monument is installed along Officers Row in the Vancouver, Washington portion of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The monument, erected by the Washington State Historical Society in 1925, commemorates several "firsts" to occur at Fort Vancouver, within the Washington Territory, including the first military post, school, and sermon delivery.

The Clark County Veterans War Memorial is installed in the Vancouver, Washington portion of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, in the United States.

The Monument to the Three Kichis is a memorial installed in the Vancouver, Washington portion of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, in the United States. The monument was dedicated on August 1, 1989.

Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is a United States National Historic Site located in the states of Washington and Oregon. The National Historic Site consists of two units, one located on the site of Fort Vancouver in modern-day Vancouver, Washington; the other being the former residence of John McLoughlin in Oregon City, Oregon. The two sites were separately given national historic designation in the 1940s. The Fort Vancouver unit was designated a National Historic Site in 1961, and was combined with the McLoughlin House into a unit in 2003.

The House of Providence, also known as The Academy (or Academy building), is a former orphanage and school located in Vancouver, Washington. It was built c. 1873 by Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

The Chkalov Transpolar Flight Monument, or simply Chkalov Monument, is a monument installed outside the Pearson Air Museum, in the Vancouver, Washington portion of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The memorial commemorates the first transpolar flight, completed in 1937, and was dedicated in 1975.

Fort Vancouver was a 19th-century fur trading post that was the headquarters of the Hudson's Bay Company's Columbia Department, located in the Pacific Northwest. Named for Captain George Vancouver, the fort was located on the northern bank of the Columbia River in present-day Vancouver, Washington. The fort was a major center of the regional fur trading. Every year trade goods and supplies from London arrived either via ships sailing to the Pacific Ocean or overland from Hudson Bay via the York Factory Express. Supplies and trade goods were exchanged with a plethora of Indigenous cultures for fur pelts. Furs from Fort Vancouver were often shipped to the Chinese port of Guangzhou where they were traded for Chinese manufactured goods for sale in the United Kingdom. At its pinnacle, Fort Vancouver watched over 34 outposts, 24 ports, six ships, and 600 employees. Today, a full-scale replica of the fort, with internal buildings, has been constructed and is open to the public as Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

The Pearson Air Museum is a place-based aviation museum at Pearson Field in Vancouver, Washington, USA. Managed by the National Park Service as part of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, museum exhibits provide an opportunity for visitors to explore aviation history tied to Pearson Field and Vancouver Barracks. Objects and artifacts from the National Park Service collections and on loan from members of the community and other museums depict history of aviation in the Pacific Northwest.

Hudson's Bay High School is a public high school in the Central Park area of Vancouver, Washington, and is part of Vancouver Public Schools. It was founded in 1955 and was named after the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), as Fort Vancouver had been chosen, in 1821, as the HBC base of operations on the Pacific Slope.: 369–370  Hudson's Bay is known for having two strong magnet programs, as well as a children's day care and district-wide mothers' transportation program. It is located across from Clark College, where many Bay students participate in the Running Start program.

The John P. and Mary Kiggins House is a 2.5-story craftsman style house located in Vancouver, Washington. The house was constructed in 1907 for John P. Kiggins, a Vancouver businessman and theater owner who served nine terms as mayor and sponsored many civic improvement projects. The architect and builder of the house are unknown, although Kiggins was trained as a building contractor and may have built the house himself. The Kiggins family owned the house until 1994. At that time it was sold and converted to office space, although much of the original details were preserved.The site of original construction was East Evergreen Boulevard and C Street, but a 2008 downtown redevelopment plan, including a new community library, required that the Kiggins house be moved. After considerable preparation, the house was moved to 24th and H Streets in the Arnada neighborhood.
