St Margaret was an ancient parish in the City and Liberty of Westminster and the county of Middlesex. It included the core of modern Westminster, including the Palace of Westminster and the area around, but not including Westminster Abbey. It was divided into St Margaret's and St John's in 1727, to coincide with the building of the Church of St John the Evangelist, constructed by the Commission for Building Fifty New Churches in Smith Square to meet the demands of the growing population, but there continued to be a single vestry for the parishes of St Margaret and St John. This was reformed in 1855 by the Metropolis Management Act, and the two parishes formed the Westminster District until 1887. St Margaret and St John became part of the County of London in 1889. The vestry was abolished in 1900, to be replaced by Westminster City Council, but St Margaret and St John continued to have a nominal existence until 1922.

55 Broadway is a Grade I listed building close to St James's Park in London. Upon completion, it was the tallest office block in the city. In 1931 the building earned architect Charles Holden the RIBA London Architecture Medal. In 2020, it was announced that it will be converted to a luxury hotel.

Broadway is a street in the City of Westminster in London that runs between Petty France, Queen Anne's Gate, Carteret Street and Tothill Street in the north and Victoria Street in the south. It is joined on the west side by St Ermin's Hill and Caxton Street, and on the east side by Dacre Street. Notable buildings on the street include: Metropolitan Police's former headquarters (1967–2017), known as New Scotland Yard, at No. 10 (now demolished); Falkland House at No. 14, the Falkland Islands Government office in London. Equal Opportunities Commission at No. 36; The MI6 or Secret Intelligence Service's former operating base at 54 Broadway; 55 Broadway, on the corner with Petty France and including St James's Park Underground station. Designed by Eric Gill and grade I listed. Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, at No. 151. St Ermin's Hotel, on the corner with Caxton Street which had strong connections with the British intelligence community. Grade II listed.In March 1973, the Provisional IRA placed a car bomb outside the post office at No. 1, Broadway. It was defused before it exploded, but two other devices, one in Whitehall and another near the Old Bailey, exploded that day, killing one person who died from a heart attack attributed to the bombing, and injuring over 200.

The Venue was a live music club at 160–162 Victoria Street, London, England, owned by Virgin Records. It opened its doors on 1 November 1978 and operated until 1984. The first act to play there was Graham Parker and The Rumour, followed by the last live performances by Alex Harvey before his death. Todd Rundgren played some dates there just before Christmas in 1978, as part of the tour to back up the Back to the Bars album; released for the Christmas market, at the time. Two shows were sometimes played per night, and the ambience was akin to a nightclub, where audience members sat at tables and could have drinks and meals while listening to the acts. It was also popular for use by record companies showcasing new signings to the music media.

Queen Anne's Mansions was a block of flats in Petty France, Westminster, London, at grid reference TQ296795. In 1873, Henry Alers Hankey acquired a site between St James's Park and St James's Park Underground station. Acting as his own architect, and employing his own labour, he proceeded to erect the first stage of the block. At twelve stories, later increased to fourteen, it was the loftiest residential building in Britain. The Court Circular for January 1897 describes it as "a stupendous pile which, for solidity, comfort and general convenience, sets all rivals at defiance, although twenty years have elapsed and imitations have been legion."

St James's Park is a London Underground station near St James's Park in the City of Westminster, central London. It is served by the District and Circle lines and is between Victoria and Westminster stations. It is in Travelcard Zone 1. The station building is incorporated into 55 Broadway, formerly the headquarters of Transport for London, and has entrances both on the junction of 55 Broadway and Petty France and on Palmer Street, opposite Starbucks. The station is close to several government offices. The station is not wheelchair accessible.

The Embassy of Slovenia in London is the diplomatic mission of Slovenia in the United Kingdom. It was opened in 1992, one year after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia. Previously on Little College Street, it later moved to Dartmouth Street.

A Grade I-listed statue of Queen Anne stands on a pedestal alongside the north wall of No. 15 Queen Anne's Gate in Westminster, London. It portrays the queen wearing a brocaded skirt and bodice and an open cloak with the insignia of the Order of the Garter; on her head is a small crown and in her hands she holds an orb and sceptre. The statue, carved from Portland stone, stands on a plinth of the same material with the inscription ANNA REGINA. The pedestal consists of a fat "engaged" cylinder with a flat volute on either side, each with scrolls adorned with carved flowers and leaves. Neither the sculptor's identity nor the exact date of the work are known, but it is probably of the early eighteenth century.
