New River was a ward in the London Borough of Hackney and forms part of the Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency. Consisting of an area of Stamford Hill the ward also incorporated the large council estate of Woodberry Down. The ward takes its name from the New River, built to supply London with drinking water in the early 17th century. The ward returned three councillors to the Borough Council, with elections every four years. At the previous election on 6 May 2010 Maureen Middleton (Conservative Party); and Labour Party candidates Michael Jones and Sean Mulready were returned. Turnout was 56%; with 3,956 votes cast.In 2011 New River ward had a total population of 12,551. This compared with the average ward population within the borough of 12,962.

Lordship was a ward in the London Borough of Hackney and area forms part of the Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency. The ward returns three councillors to Hackney London Borough Council, with elections every four years. At the previous election on 6 May 2010 Bernard Aussenberg (Conservative Party), and Labour Party candidates Edward Brown and Daniel Stevens, were returned. Turnout was 62%; with 4,803 votes cast.On 11 April 2014, Cllr Stevens resigned leaving a vacancy until the council elections are fought on new ward boundaries in May.In 2001, Lordship ward had a total population of 11,288. This compares with the average ward population within the borough of 10,674.

Stamford Hill is a London Overground station on the Lea Valley Lines, serving Stamford Hill and neighbouring areas. It is 5 miles 3 chains (8.1 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and situated between Stoke Newington and Seven Sisters stations. Its three-letter station code is SMH and it is in Travelcard zone 3. The entrance hall to the station, on Amhurst Park, lies within the London Borough of Hackney but much of the platform area is in the London Borough of Haringey. The station is on the Seven Sisters branch of the Lea Valley lines, with trains out of Liverpool Street running to either Cheshunt or Enfield Town.

Abney Park is in Stoke Newington, London, England. It is a 13-hectare (32-acre) park dating from just before 1700, named after Lady Abney, the wife of Sir Thomas Abney, Lord Mayor of London in 1700 and one of the first directors of the Bank of England and associated with Dr Isaac Watts, who laid out an arboretum. In the early 18th century it was accessed via the frontages and gardens of two large mansions: her own manor house (Abney House) and Fleetwood House. Both fronted onto Church Street in what was then a quiet mainly Nonconformist (non-Anglican) village. In 1840, the grounds were turned into Abney Park Cemetery, where 200,000 people were buried. Abney Park now serves mainly as a nature reserve.

The Abney Park Temple Lodges are gatehouses to Abney Park Cemetery designed by William Hosking, to Abney Park in the London Borough of Hackney. The lodges are composed mainly of stone building materials and designed in an Egyptian Revival style, which was unusual for the time period of which the lodges were conceptualized. Augustis Pugin Jr. was famously against the non-European design of the lodges despite public fascination of Egyptology at the time.

Abney Park cemetery is one of the "Magnificent Seven" cemeteries in London, England. Abney Park in Stoke Newington in the London Borough of Hackney is a historic parkland originally laid out in the early 18th century by Lady Mary Abney and Dr. Isaac Watts and the neighbouring Hartopp family. In 1840 it became a non-denominational garden cemetery, a semi-public park arboretum, and an educational institute, which was widely celebrated as an example of its time. A total of 196,843 burials had taken place there up to the year 2000. It is a Local Nature Reserve.

Abney Park Chapel, is a Grade II Listed chapel, designed by William Hosking and built by John Jay that is situated in Europe's first wholly nondenominational cemetery, Abney Park Cemetery, London. Opened in May, 1840, it was the first nondenominational cemetery chapel in Europe (and probably the world – since the chapel at Mount Auburn was a later addition). It helped pioneer the early use of the Dissenting Gothic building style, and encouraged renewed interest in the careful blending of earlier styles. It was primarily the work of a small design team consisting of George Collison II (acting as client for the cemetery founders, with a passion for Mount Auburn Cemetery near Boston, and it is said, Beverley Minster which dominated the skyline in his ancestral town); William Hosking (architect and civil engineer with an interest in Egyptology, antiquities, and architectural writing and scholarship); the builder John Jay, and George Loddiges (botanical scientist and horticulturalist primarily concerned with the setting of Abney Park Chapel, including its nearby rosarium and a collection of American plants on the Chapel Lawn). The chapel's first minister was the Rev. John Jefferson, who officiated for more than a quarter of a century.

Lubavitch Senior Girls' School is a Jewish secondary school and sixth form for girls, located in the Stamford Hill area of the London Borough of Hackney in England. The schools is guided by the principles of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.First opened as an independent school in 1962, Lubavitch Senior Girls' School became a voluntary aided school in 2012 under the control of Hackney London Borough Council. In April 2018 Lubavitch Senior Girls' School converted to academy status and is now sponsored by The Lubavitch Multi Academy Trust. Lubavitch Senior Girls' School offers GCSEs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels. The curriculum of the school is divided between secular subjects (Chol) and religious studies (Kodesh). Secular subjects include Modern Hebrew, while religious studies include the Yiddish language and Jewish history.

Skinners' Academy (formerly The Skinners' Company's School for Girls) is a school in the Woodberry Down (North Hackney) community for boys and girls aged 11–19. The academy opened in 2010 and is supported by the Worshipful Company of Skinners, a London Livery Company. There are currently approximately 900 pupils on roll from Year 7 - Year 11 and over 100 Sixth Form students. More than 60% of the pupils speak English as an additional language and more than 86% of students are from ethnic minority backgrounds. In March 2017 the academy welcomed a short Ofsted inspection which resulted in the academy retaining its recognition as a 'Good' school.

Stamford Hill is an area in Inner London, England, about 5.5 miles north-east of Charing Cross. The neighbourhood is a sub-district of Hackney, the major component of the London Borough of Hackney, and is known for its Hasidic community, the largest concentration of Hasidic Jews in Europe. The district takes its name from the eponymous hill, which reaches a height of 33m AOD, and the originally Roman A10 also takes the name "Stamford Hill", as it makes its way through the area. The hill is believed to be named after the ford where the A10 crossed the Hackney Brook on the southern edge of the hill. Sanford and Saundfordhill are referred to in documents from the 1200s, and mean "sand Ford". Roque's map of 1745 shows a bridge, which replaced the ford, referred to as "Stamford Bridge".The hill rises gently from the former course of the Hackney Brook to the south, and its steeper northern slope provided a natural boundary for the traditional (parish and borough) extent of Hackney, and now does so for the wider modern borough.
