The Japan Broadcasting Corporation (Japanese: 日本放送協会, Hepburn: Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai), also known as NHK, is a Japanese public broadcaster. NHK, which has always been known by this romanized initialism in Japanese, is a statutory corporation funded by viewers' payments of a television license fee. NHK operates two terrestrial television channels (NHK General TV and NHK Educational TV), four satellite television channels (NHK BS1 and NHK BS Premium; as well as two ultra-high-definition television channels, NHK BS4K and NHK BS8K), and three radio networks (NHK Radio 1, NHK Radio 2, and NHK FM). NHK also provides an international broadcasting service, known as NHK World-Japan. NHK World-Japan is composed of NHK World TV, NHK World Premium, and the shortwave radio service Radio Japan (RJ). World Radio Japan also makes some of its programs available on the Internet. NHK was the first broadcaster in the world to broadcast in high-definition (using multiple sub-Nyquist sampling encoding, also known as Hi-Vision) and in 8K.

The NHK Broadcasting Center (NHK放送センター, Enueichikei Hōsō Sentā), the headquarters of NHK, is located in Jinnan, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It includes studios and offices, as well as shops and the popular Studio Park, which is a popular attraction for schoolchildren and tourists. Located within the same complex is the NHK Hall, in which performances are regularly held and often televised. The center also hosts offices of international broadcasters, including KBS of South Korea, China Central Television, the Public Broadcasting Service, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. A number of NHK-related companies have offices at buildings in nearby streets.

Toguri Museum of Art (Japanese: 戸栗美術館) is located in Shoto, Shibuya, Tokyo. It mainly preserves and exhibits Asian ceramics collected by the businessperson Toru Toguri. The museum is located approximately 15 minutes walk from Shibuya Station. The main collections are Hizen porcelain from Imari and Nabeshima, as well as Chinese and Korean ceramics. The collection has approximately 7,000 art pieces in its collection.

The February 26 Incident (二・二六事件, Ni Ni-Roku Jiken, also known as the 2-26 Incident) was an attempted coup d'état in the Empire of Japan on 26 February 1936. It was organized by a group of young Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) officers with the goal of purging the government and military leadership of their factional rivals and ideological opponents. Although the rebels succeeded in assassinating several leading officials (including two former prime ministers) and in occupying the government center of Tokyo, they failed to assassinate Prime Minister Keisuke Okada or secure control of the Imperial Palace. Their supporters in the army made attempts to capitalize on their actions, but divisions within the military, combined with Imperial anger at the coup, meant they were unable to achieve a change of government. Facing overwhelming opposition as the army moved against them, the rebels surrendered on 29 February.Unlike earlier examples of political violence by young officers, the coup attempt had severe consequences. After a series of closed trials, nineteen of the uprising's leaders were executed for mutiny and another forty were imprisoned. The radical Kōdō-ha faction lost its influence within the army, while the military, now free from infighting, increased its control over the civilian government, which had been severely weakened by the assassination of key moderate and liberal-minded leaders.

Yoyogi-koen Station (代々木公園駅, Yoyogi-kōen-eki) is a subway station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo subway operator Tokyo Metro. It is numbered "C-02".

The NHK Hall is a concert hall located at the NHK Broadcasting Center, the main headquarters of Japan's public broadcaster NHK. The hall is the main venue for the NHK Symphony Orchestra, but it has also played host to other events, such as the 1979 Japan Music Awards, and NHK's annual New Year's Eve special Kōhaku Uta Gassen.

Shibuya Public Hall (Japanese: 渋谷公会堂, Hepburn: Shibuya Kōkaidō) is a theatre located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It was completed in 1964 to host the weightlifting events in the 1964 Summer Olympics.The theatre was sponsored by Dentsu and Suntory, which paid ¥80 million to rename it C.C. Lemon Hall (after their beverage of the same name) from 2006 to 2011. The hall closed on October 4, 2015, for reconstruction work. It was reopened on October 13, 2019, when it was again renamed; this time as Line Cube Shibuya. The new management team is formed by Amuse, Inc. (representative company), Line Corporation and Pacific Art center until March 31, 2029.

The weightlifting competition at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo consisted of seven weight classes, all for men only. It also counted as 1964 World Weightlifting Championships.
