Overveen

Overveen is a railway station in Overveen, Netherlands. The station opened 3 June 1881. It lies on the Haarlem–Zandvoort railway. The station has two platforms on a central island. It is located along the Tetterodeweg.

Thijsse's Hof (The garden of Thijsse) is a wildlife garden in Bloemendaal, the Netherlands. It was created in 1925 on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Jac. P. Thijsse, naturalist and nature conservationist. It is the oldest wildlife garden in the Netherlands, and one of the oldest of Europe, and in the world. In Thijsse's Hof about 800 species of native plants can be found in South Kennemerland, the region in which Bloemendaal is situated. Most of the plants are grown in natural vegetations. The garden is also a home for many birds. Its full name is Thijsse's Hof; planten- en vogeltuin in het Bloemendaalsche Bosch (Garden of Thijsse : garden for plants and birds in the Bloemendaal Wood).

Mons Aurea, or ROC Nova College is a middelbare school and former "huishoud school" on the Garenkokerskade, Haarlem, The Netherlands. It also offers various facilities for adult education.

Patronaat is one of the 10 largest alternative pop music halls in the Netherlands and was established in 1984. It is located at the Zijlsingel in Haarlem, near the city center. In 2003 the old building was replaced with a brand new concert hall, which was being used for the first time in 2005. Between September 2003 until May 2005 a temporary location at the Oostvest functioned as Haarlem's concert hall. The new building was designed by architect Paul Diederen of the architecture firm Diederen Dirriox Architecten of Eindhoven. The building's capacity was significantly increased with a large hall for 1000 visitors, a second one for some 350 guests and a music bar for 100 people, which has live music three days in the week, free of admission. A total of 500 events is organised every year, for some 140.000 people. With a strong program and a character of its own Patronaat provides progressive pop music and meets the wishes of its catchment. Over the years artists like Willy DeVille, Solomon Burke, Tori Amos, Dick Dale, Herman Brood, Living Colour, Bo Diddley, dEUS, Zita Swoon, Gabriel Rios, Rickie Lee Jones, The Gutter Twins, Steve Lukather, José Feliciano, Babyshambles, Calexico, Michael Franti & Spearhead, but also heavy acts like Limp Bizkit, Anthrax, The Bloodhound Gang, Marillion, The Misfits, Danko Jones, Soulfly, Therapy?, New Model Army, Y&T, Neurosis, Cradle of Filth, Obituary, D.R.I., Helmet, Dimmu Borgir and Deicide, as well as large names in the electronic music world like Paul Kalkbrenner, Dave Clarke, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, Modeselektor, Jeff Mills, James Holden, DJ Hell, Orbital, Leftfield, Battles, Pendulum, Chase & Status, Nero, Camo & Krooked, Andy C, Sub Focus, Aphrodite, Ed Rush, Benga, Skream, Caspa and Rusko have found their way to the Haarlem venue.

Chapeau! is a defunct restaurant located in Bloemendaal in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 2003–2011. In 2012, the restaurant was rewarded two Michelin stars. The retained the two stars until its closure. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16.0 out of 20 points.Last head chef was Jan Sobecky. Former head chefs that earned Michelin stars with Chapeau! were Roland Veldhuizen (2003–2005) and Jeroen Granemann (2005–2009). The restaurant closed down on 1 August 2016.Chapeau! was a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.

The Zijlpoort was a city gate in Haarlem, built in the 17th century. Salomon de Bray was involved in the design. It is depicted on the painting "De Zijlpoort van Haarlem" (c. 1670) by Gerrit Berckheyde. It was named after "Het Zijl", a small stream coming from the dunes, that was later dug out to become the Brouwersgracht. The Zijlpoort was demolished in 1824.

Schoterveense Molen is a windmill in Haarlem located at Wipwatermolen Heussensstraat in the former municipality of Schoten. It is registered as a Rijksmonument. This windmill stands as silent witness to the heritage of a defunct organization called Waterschap De Schoterveenpolder, that ended in 1935. A commemorative plaque was attached in 1891 by the last directors of that organization after some maintenance work was carried out. The polder was once over 206 hectares (515 acres), but has been reduced to half an acre due to surrounding city expansion. Between 1920 and 1923 its pumping function was transferred to an electric pumping station on the Delft canal further west. This made the mill redundant, which was necessary to strip it of its "wind rights" that prevented building expansion in the neighborhood.It is situated quite close to the Huis ter Cleeff and was witness to the inquartering of the Spaniards under the Duke of Alva, which explains why the small canal next to it was called the Spanse-vaart and further towards the river Spaarne a street situated along the former route of the canal is called Spaansevaartstraat. Inspection in the 1950s brought to light some carpenters' marks in the foundations that go back to the 16th-century and as wipmolen De Stoop it was possibly built by the Spaniard troops during the siege of Haarlem.

Bloemendaal railway station is located in Haarlem, on the border of Bloemendaal, the Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1900 on the Haarlem–Uitgeest railway. The station has 2 platforms. The station building now serves as conference and meeting center.

The Hofje van Codde en Beresteyn is a hofje in Haarlem, Netherlands. The current building is from 1968 and is located on the J. Cuyperstraat, which is named for the architect who designed the Cathedral of Saint Bavo next door, Joseph Cuypers. This hofje is the wealthiest hofje foundation in Haarlem with the most modern facilities for its inhabitants. Poor (devote) Catholic women of Haarlem 60 years and older are still welcome to live there for free.

The Lutherse kerk in Haarlem is a Lutheran church dating from the 17th century on the Witte Herenstraat in Haarlem, Netherlands.

The Cathedral of Saint Bavo is a cathedral in Haarlem, the Netherlands, built by Joseph Cuypers from 1895 to 1930 to replace the former waterstaatskerk in the Jansstraat called the St. Joseph. That church was itself a replacement for the Sint-Bavokerk, that had been converted to Protestantism from Catholicism in 1578. The Cathedral of Saint Bavo now serves as the main cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Haarlem-Amsterdam. Within the cathedral, the former sacristy has been converted into a small museum (schatkamer) containing historical artefacts from Haarlem's Catholic past.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Haarlem–Amsterdam (Dutch: Bisdom Haarlem–Amsterdam, Latin: Dioecesis Harlemensis–Amstelodamensis) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in the Netherlands. As one of the seven suffragans in the ecclesiastical province of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Utrecht, the diocesan territory comprises the north west of the Netherlands, including the cities of Haarlem (capital of North Holland) and Amsterdam (in the same province and Dutch nominal national capital). Johannes Hendriks has been the Bishop of the Diocese of Haarlem–Amsterdam since 2020.
