Mount Hebron Temperance Hall, also known as Division Room of the Saludavill Division No. 47, Sons of Temperance and Division Room of the Mt. Hebron Division No. 7, Sons of Temperance, is a historic temperance hall located at West Columbia, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built in 1862, and is a small, one-story rectangular frame building. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a gable roof. The building originally housed local chapters of the Sons of Temperance. It was restored in 1979, and is located in the churchyard of the Mount Hebron United Methodist Church. The church uses it as a Sunday School building and Boy Scout Hut.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Pine Grove Rosenwald School, also known as Pine Grove Colored School, is a historic Rosenwald school building located at St. Andrews, Richland County, South Carolina. It was built in 1923, and is a one-story, rectangular gable-front frame building. Its layout is a variant of the two-room schoolhouse and features large banks of tall narrow windows.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

On the afternoon of April 16, 2022, a mass shooting occurred at the Columbiana Centre shopping mall in Columbia, South Carolina. Ten people were reported to have been struck by gunfire. Two others were reported to have been injured in the evacuation of the building. No fatalities have been reported. Three people with firearms were reported to have been detained, although only one was said to have fired their gun. A black male suspect was arrested. According to Orlando, Florida's WFTV, injuries were later reported to be increased to 14.

Most of the mall's territory is located in Lexington County, although portions of the mall extend into Richland County. The regional mall has 788,103 square feet (73,217.2 m2) of retail space. Its anchors include two Belk stores, Dillard's, and JCPenney. The Men's Belk opened in early 2015 in the former Sears which closed in 2014.

Columbia High School a public high school in the St. Andrews area of Columbia, South Carolina, United States. Columbia High School was originally housed in the former Columbia Female Academy (established 1816) at 1323 Washington Street at the corner with Marion Street. This building was leased to the Richland County Commissioners of Schools in 1884. The school became Columbia's first public high school in 1895 as the Washington Street School. The original Columbia High School building was constructed in 1915 on that site. The current building was constructed in 1975.
