Stafford High School (Stafford, Connecticut)

Stafford is a town in Tolland County, Connecticut, United States, settled in 1719. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 11,472 at the 2020 United States Census. The community consists of the downtown area of Stafford Springs and the more rural villages of Crystal Lake, Ellithorpe, Hydeville, Orcuttsville, Staffordville, Stafford Hollow, Village Hill, and West Stafford. The town most likely derives its name from Staffordshire, in England.

The Holt Memorial Fountain is a fountain located in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. The fountain was built in 1894 in memorial of Charles Holt, the owner of the Phoenix Woolen Co, a local mill. The fountain causes a roundabout to form with Route 32 and Route 190 intersecting. The fountain water system had been broken due to a truck crash some time before 1996. The fountain was proposed to be moved in 1990 to help traffic, but it was greatly opposed by the town. The former railroad station is located less than 100 feet away.

Stafford Springs is a census-designated place located in Stafford, Connecticut. The population was 4,780 at the 2020 Census. The village was a borough until November 1991, when it was disincorporated.Located near the source of the Willimantic River, the mill industry grew in the town due to its location and became the largest industry in the area. The village has the Holt Memorial Fountain and the former railroad station.In the 18th century, the spring at Stafford Springs was famous for its reputed ability to cure "the gout, sterility, pulmonary, hysterics, etc." In 1771, John Adams, then a young lawyer, visited Stafford Springs for several days after suffering from overwork and anxiety.Stafford Springs was once the headquarters of Station C of the Connecticut State Police, and subsequently was the site of the Troop C Barracks.Currently Route 32, Route 190, Route 19, and Route 140 pass through or originate in the village.

Stafford Hollow, also known as Stafford, Stafford Village, or Furnace Hollow, is a village in the town of Stafford, in Tolland County, Connecticut, located at the junction of Route 19 and Route 319. Stafford Hollow was the town center of Stafford during the 18th and 19th centuries, before the growth of the village of Stafford Springs.A 0.26-square-mile (0.67 km2) area of the village has been designated a historic district, the Stafford Hollow Historic District, which includes Colonial Revival, Greek Revival, and Late Victorian architecture. Twentieth-century houses on the roads radiating away from the village center are not included in the historic district. As early as 1779, Stafford Hollow was the site of a blast furnace, known as Phelps blast furnace, that processed bog iron ores. The Phelps furnace is reputed to have produced cannon and cannonballs, kettles, and pots for use by the Continental Army. It operated until 1840, when the local ore supply had been used up.Stafford Hollow Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The historic district includes five of the Town of Stafford's most significant buildings.: 16  The district includes the Pinney School building, a Queen Anne style structure from 1895.: 11  It includes the Valley Cotton Mill site, now ruins, which was destroyed in 1900.: 13 

Stafford Motor Speedway is a semi-banked half-mile mile paved oval located in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Stafford Speedway holds weekly racing every Friday night May through September. This track is known as the home of the SK Modifieds and drivers such as Ryan Preece and Ted Christopher. The track hosts weekly events throughout the season previously including 3 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events yearly. Stafford Motor Speedway is the track that had hosted the second most ever races in the modern era of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with 131 races from 1985 to 2019. The speedway also had hosted 5 NASCAR North Tour events from 1979 until 1985 and 30 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races, between 1987 and 2016. Stafford Motor Speedway was the site of the first ever Superstar Racing Experience event on June 12, 2021. The main event was won by track regular Doug Coby. In December 2020, the track announced that it would end its 60-year affiliation with NASCAR, "due to a conflict regarding ownership of streaming and broadcast rights of weekly racing events". Stafford began live streaming on FloRacing in 2021.

Hydeville is a rural section of the town of Stafford, Connecticut, located on Furnace Creek. Historically it was also known as Haydenville.

Nye-Holman State Forest is a Connecticut state forest located in the town of Tolland. The Willimantic River flows through the forest.

Crystal Lake is a village, census-designated place, and part of the town of Ellington, in Tolland County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 1,945 at the 2010 census. The CDP includes an eponymous lake.

Shenipsit State Forest is a state forest located in northeastern Connecticut with 11 parcels scattered between the towns of Somers, Ellington, and Stafford. The forest's headquarters is home to the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, which houses memorabilia from CCC camps throughout the eastern United States. The forest is managed for forestry products and offers various recreational pursuits.

Peaked Mountain (pronounced pea-kid) is a nature reserve located in Monson, Massachusetts. The property is approximately 2,000 acres (8.1 km2) and is owned by The Trustees of Reservations, a non-profit conservation organization. The principal landowners of its western slope, Leonard and Roslyn Harrington and Richard Elliott, have long permitted the public to hike through their properties to the summit. Concerned about the mountain's future, they sought the assistance of The Trustees of Reservations in developing a long-term strategy for protecting the mountain and securing public access after their lifetimes.

The Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife refuge in Monson, Massachusetts. Founded by Arthur Norcross in 1939, the 8,000 acre wildlife refuge was established to preserve, protect and propagate native flora and fauna. The refuge is part of the Norcross Wildlife Foundation, which awards loans and grants, and has helped preserve over 33,000 acres since 1939.

Willington is a town in Tolland County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 5,566 at the 2020 census.The Willimantic River borders the town on the west. Willington is about 25 miles northeast of Hartford on Interstate 84, which also provides a connection to Boston, via the Massachusetts Turnpike. Providence, RI is accessible via U.S. Route 44. Larger communities nearby include Coventry, Stafford, Tolland, and Willimantic. The University of Connecticut is located in adjacent Mansfield. A new public library (formerly located within Hall Memorial School) opened in autumn 2006.
