The J. P. Smith Shoe Company Plant is a historic factory building at the corner of North Sangamon Avenue and West Huron Street in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The factory was built in 1911-12 for the J. P. Smith Shoe Company, Chicago's second-largest maker of shoes at the time. Horatio R. Wilson, a prolific local architect, designed the building. Wilson's design used metal sash windows to provide light and ventilation to workers, putting it at the forefront of a national trend in industrial construction. The emphasis on proper lighting was a recurring theme in Wilson's work, as he had also designed some of Chicago's first apartments with sun parlors. The design also used brickwork to add decorative features, such as piers and a cornice, to an otherwise functional and unadorned design.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 14, 1985.

Artemisia Gallery was an alternative exhibition space in Chicago, Illinois, that operated from 1973 until its closure in 2003.

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, also known as the Intuit Art Center or just Intuit, is a museum in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago dedicated to outsider art. Founded in 1991, the museum offers exhibitions and educational programming exploring contemporary self-taught art.

Saint John Cantius Church (Polish: Kościół Świętego Jana Kantego) is a historic Catholic church of the Archdiocese of Chicago known for its architecture, liturgical practices, and affiliation with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.With monumental religious edifices of St. Mary of the Angels, St. Hedwig's or St. Wenceslaus, it is one of the many Polish churches that overlook the Kennedy Expressway. The unique baroque interior has remained intact for more than a century and is reminiscent of the sumptuous art and architecture of 18th century Kraków. Of all the Polish Cathedral style churches in Chicago, St. John Cantius stands closest to downtown. In 2013, the parish completed a significant restoration. The 130 feet (40 m) tower is readily seen from the nearby Kennedy Expressway and is a landmark in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, located at 825 North Carpenter Street.

The station is located at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. From the Chicago Avenue station, trains run at intervals of 2–7 minutes during rush hour, and take 4 minutes to travel to the Loop.

The Dawson Brothers Plant is a historic factory building located at 517-519 N. Halsted Street in the West Town community area of Chicago, Illinois. The factory was built in 1888 and designed by Julius Zittel; the five-story brick building has a cast iron front on its first floor and lacks ornamentation. The Dawson Brothers used the factory to produce fireplace mantels and grates; the building also served as the company's showroom and offices. A six-story addition was added to the building in 1901; this addition mainly served as a storage and shipping area. The Dawson Brothers conducted business at the factory until the 1920s. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 14, 1985.

Grand (or Grand/Milwaukee in station announcements) is an 'L' station on the CTA's Blue Line, at Grand Avenue, Halsted Street and Milwaukee Avenue in the southeast corner of the West Town neighborhood. It is also located within the Fulton River District.

Bally's Chicago is a proposed casino resort that will be built in Chicago, Illinois, the United States. In May 2022, Mayor Lori Lightfoot approved Bally's Corporation's bid to construct a casino complex in the city. The complex will be located in the city's River West neighborhood on the bank of the Chicago River. The proposal still has to go through the city council and gaming board approval in order for construction to begin.

The Chicago metropolitan area, also colloquially referred to as Chicagoland, is a major urban area in the Midwestern United States that is one of the forty largest in the world. The MSA had a 2020 population of 9.7 million people and the CSA was estimated at nearly 10 million people. The Chicago area is the third-largest metropolitan area and the third-largest Combined Statistical Area in the United States, as well as the fourth-largest metropolitan area in North America, and the largest metropolitan area within the Great Lakes megalopolis. The Combined Statistical Area's population decreased before the 2010 census, but has now started to increase according to the 2020 Census towards the 10 million people mark. The metropolitan area has seen an increase of Latin American residents, and the Asian American population also increased according to the 2020 Census. The metropolitan area represents about 3 percent of the United States population. The Chicago metropolitan area has one of the world's largest and most diversified economies. It is a key factor of the Illinois economy with more than six million full and part-time employees, and generating an annual gross regional product (GRP) of $689 billion in 2018. The region is home to more than 400 major corporate headquarters, including 31 in the Fortune 500 such as McDonald's, Boeing, United, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. For six consecutive years, Chicagoland was ranked the nation's top metropolitan area for corporate relocation.The Chicago area is home to a number of the nation's leading research universities including the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, University of Illinois at Chicago, DePaul University, Loyola University and Illinois Institute of Technology. The University of Chicago and Northwestern University are consistently ranked as two of the best universities in the world. There are many transportation options around the area. The Chicago Transit Authority serves primarily the city proper, and Pace buses, Metra, Amtrak, the South Shore Line and others provide commuter services for the suburbs, with some connections within the city.

The River District was a proposed 37 acre urban development in Chicago. Tribune Media announced plans for the site in October 2017. The site currently features a printing plant leased by the Chicago Tribune from Tribune Media and has been publicly discussed as a potential site for redevelopment. The Planned Development for the site was approved by the city in October 2018, and in February 2019, Tribune Media listed the site for sale with Eastdil Secured. The company is currently in a joint venture agreement with Riverside Investment and Development for 7 of the 37 acres at 700 W. Chicago Avenue, the now-vacant site of the former Chicago Tribune insertion plant. A large city casino is envisioned for the area. The River District is one of several mega and large scale development projects over the last few years either completed, under construction, or planned in Chicago. Others include the Chicago Riverwalk, the 606, Lincoln Yards, The 78, St. Regis Chicago, One Chicago, Wolf Point Towers, Tribune East Tower, a city casino, an $8.5 billion revamp of O'Hare International Airport, an extension of the Red Line subway/elevated train, and the Barack Obama Presidential Center among other projects.

Wrigley Lodge is a building at 509 N. Union, Chicago, Illinois. Owned by the Salvation Army since 1931, it most recently housed a Salvation Army Thrift Store and adult rehabilitation center.
