Remerschen (Luxembourgish: Rëmerschen) is a former commune and small wine-growing town in south-eastern Luxembourg, belonging to the commune of Schengen, near the point where the borders of Germany, France and Luxembourg come together. As of 2005, the town of Remerschen, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 637. To use the name recognition of the town of Schengen, the council of the commune of Remerschen decided on 18 January 2006 to rename the commune to Schengen. The Chamber of Deputies voted on 13 July 2006 a law [1] allowing the change of name, which was published on 30 August 2006. The law took effect three days later, and the name of the commune of Remerschen was changed to Schengen as of 3 September 2006. The town is famous for its Club des Jeunes, which organises enormous parties, such as the carnival fiesta Musel am Dusel.

Schengen (Luxembourgish: [ˈʃæŋən] (listen)) is a small wine-making village and commune in far south-eastern Luxembourg, on the western bank of the river Moselle. The commune border includes the tripoint where the borders of Germany, France, and Luxembourg meet. After the mergers with Burmerange and Wellenstein in 2011, the commune has a population of 4,223 with an area of 31.42 square kilometres (12.13 sq mi). The largest settlement within the commune of Schengen is Remerschen after which the commune used to be named. The name of the commune was changed in 2006 to take advantage of the Schengen's name recognition after the signing of the Schengen Agreement there in 1985. Schengen Castle dates from 1390 but was almost completely rebuilt in the 19th century.

Wintrange (Luxembourgish: Wëntreng, German: Wintringen) is a small town in the commune of Schengen, in southeastern Luxembourg. As of 2008, the town has a population of 402. In 2006, the Commune de Remerschen was renamed Commune de Schengen.

Perl (German pronunciation: [pɛʁl] (listen)) is a municipality in Merzig-Wadern, Saarland, Germany. In 2020 its population was 8,824.

Wintrange Castle (French: Château de Wintrange), located in the centre of Wintrange near Schengen in south-eastern Luxembourg, is a privately owned Renaissance style castle built in 1610 and can be rented for weddings, events, film, and photo location.

Contz-les-Bains (Lorraine Franconian: Nidderkonz, German: Niederkontz) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. The commune is located in the Pays de Sierck at the confluence of the Sauer (known in French as the Sûre) and the Moselle, which form the borders with Luxembourg and Germany. Just over the border in Germany is the town of Perl in Saarland, and the neighboring town in Luxembourg is Schengen.

Burmerange (Luxembourgish: Boermereng, German: Bürmeringen) is a village in south-eastern Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Remich, which is part of the district of Grevenmacher. It used to be a commune until it was merged into Schengen (along with Wellenstein) in 2011.As of 2001, the village of Burmerange, which lies in the south-east of the commune, had a population of 173.

Apach (German: Apach) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in northeastern France. Apach is 2 km (1.2 mi) from Sierck-les-Bains, 25 km (16 mi) from Thionville, and 50 km (31 mi) from Metz. It is on the border of Germany and Luxembourg, the municipalities just across the border being Perl in Germany and Schengen in Luxembourg. A natural reserve for orchids is located along the limestone hillsides, of which there are many in this town.

The Gander (also called Altbach in France) is a river which flows in Luxembourg and in the French département Moselle, tributary of the river Moselle (left side). It is about 20 km (12 mi) long, of which 17 km in France and on the French-Luxembourgish border. Its source is in the commune of Frisange, southern Luxembourg. It flows generally southeast, and from Altwies until Emerange (commune of Burmerange) it forms the French-Luxembourgish border. From Emerange until its outflow into the Moselle at Haute-Kontz, it flows through France. The largest town on the Gander is Mondorf-les-Bains.

Schwebsange (Luxembourgish: Schwéidsbengen, German: Schwebsingen) is a small town in the commune of Schengen, in south-eastern Luxembourg. As of 2005, the town has a population of 277.
