Lüdinghausen

Vischering Castle (German: Burg Vischering) in Lüdinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most typical moated castle in the Münster (region) of Germany. This region has one of the highest German concentrations of castles, palaces and fortifications, Lüdinghausen having three by itself. The castle consists of outer defensive courtyard, defensive gateways, moat, drawbridge, main building and chapel. The sandstone walls, the red tile roofs as well as their reflection in the moat provide many harmonious views from the wooded surroundings. Vischering Castle was built by Bischop Gerhard von der Mark to counter the second castle built by the Von Lüdinghausen family. It became the seat of the Droste zu Vischering Family. Droste is the local title for the hereditary noble administrators serving the Bishops of Münster. The moat is constantly replenished by a side-arm of the River Stever. The outer defensive courtyard contains the business and farm buildings. The main building is a horseshoe-shaped three-story structure with heavy outer wall. Its inner courtyard is closed off by the chapel and a lower defense wall. A castle keep is missing, having been removed during Renaissance renovations. Fire destroyed the castle in 1521. Rebuilding took place on the existing foundation. Windows and the addition of a large bay made the castle more liveable but diminished its defensive character. The whole site however retains the character of a feudal age moated castle. Damage from air attack during World War II was minor. Vischering Castle houses the Münsterlandmuseum, an exhibit on knighthood for children, as well as a cafe-restaurant. It serves as a cultural center for Kreis Coesfeld. Schloss Nordkirchen is a palace situated in the town of Nordkirchen in the Coesfeld administrative district in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The schloss was largely built between 1703 and 1734 and is known as the "Versailles of Westphalia" since it is the largest of the fully or partly moated Wasserschlösser in that region. It was originally one of the residences of the Prince-Bishopric of Münster.

The Nordkirchen transmitter is a medium-wave broadcasting facility of Deutsche Telekom near Nordkirchen in Northrhine-Westphalia. It was built in 1979 and 1980 after the 549 kHz frequency was again made available in that location. It transmitted at a power of 100 kW and uses a directional antenna, aimed at the Northeast, consisting of two ground-fed, guyed, lattice steel masts 136 metres apart. The power opposite the antenna's focal point was approximately one-third the total radiated power. This avoided conflicting with the nearby Wavre transmitter in Belgium, which works on the neighbouring 540 kHz frequency. OFF AIR in 2007 In 2004, a second medium-wave transmitter with a power of 5 kW for transmitting the privately owned radio programme Truckradio was installed at Nordkirchen transmitter, which uses the same antenna as the transmitter of Deutschlandfunk.

St. Stephanus is a church and a former parish in Bork, now part of Selm, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was completed in 1724 in Baroque style, and expanded in the 1880s based on a design by Wilhelm Rincklake. The church is a listed monument. The parish was merged with St. Ludger, Selm in 1976.

The Selm-Bork Synagogue is one of two remaining rural synagogues in Westphalia, and a witness of pre-holocaust Jewish life in Westphalia. The exact year of construction is unknown, the first written reference was found in a directory of houses, written in 1818.Until Kristallnacht of 1938, the synagogue was used for prayer. During the pogrom the building was looted and partially destroyed. The Jewish community was forced to sell the building. A coal dealer acquired the building and used it as a barn. In 1991 the synagogue was restored and opened for the public in 1994, the government declared the synagogue a historic monument.Today it is used by Etz Ami, a liberal Jewish community.
