The Selm-Bork Synagogue is one of two remaining rural synagogues in Westphalia, and a witness of pre-holocaust Jewish life in Westphalia. The exact year of construction is unknown, the first written reference was found in a directory of houses, written in 1818.Until Kristallnacht of 1938, the synagogue was used for prayer. During the pogrom the building was looted and partially destroyed. The Jewish community was forced to sell the building. A coal dealer acquired the building and used it as a barn. In 1991 the synagogue was restored and opened for the public in 1994, the government declared the synagogue a historic monument.Today it is used by Etz Ami, a liberal Jewish community.

St. Stephanus is a church and a former parish in Bork, now part of Selm, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was completed in 1724 in Baroque style, and expanded in the 1880s based on a design by Wilhelm Rincklake. The church is a listed monument. The parish was merged with St. Ludger, Selm in 1976.

Selm is a town in the district of Unna, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approximately 20 kilometers north of Dortmund and 25 kilometers west of Hamm.

The first power station in Lünen was commissioned in 1938. The power station produced traction current since 1984 also. The power station also produced long-distance heating since late 2003. Annual coal consumption amounted to 960,000 tons. The operator of the power station was Evonik Industries. The power station's chimney was 250 metres (820 ft) high. It was decommissioned in 2018 and, in 2019, the dismantlement process started. In 2021, the cooling tower, the chimney, the boiler house were demolished.

Lünen

Lünen is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located north of Dortmund, on both banks of the River Lippe. It is the largest town of the Unna district and part of the Ruhr Area. In 2009 a biogas plant was built to provide electric power to the city. Lünen is the first city in the world to receive electricity via public utility companies that is generated on the base of animal waste. The plant produces up to 6.6 MW, supplying 26,000 homes with heat and electricity.

Cappenberg Castle

Cappenberg Castle (German: Schloss Cappenberg) is a former Premonstratensian monastery, Cappenberg Abbey (German: Kloster Cappenberg) in Cappenberg, a part of Selm, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It stands on an elevation, the Cappenberg, near Lünen and Werne, and is a vantage point offering views over the eastern Ruhrgebiet. In the castle grounds is a water tower constructed in 1899, now a protected monument, which was restored in 1992. The approach from the north-west to the main gate is marked by two stone lions on pedestals, standing at the entrance to an avenue between clipped oaks. On the adjacent castle grounds are a wildlife reserve and a bird of prey sanctuary.

St. Johannes Evangelist is a Catholic parish church in Cappenberg, now part of Selm, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was formerly the abbey church (Stiftskirche Cappenberg) of Cappenberg Abbey built in Romanesque style. It is a listed monument as one of few extant large churches built before the mid-12th century in Westphalia. The church holds the Cappenberger Barbarossakopf, a reliquary regarded as a medieval portrait bust of the emperor Friedrich Barbarossa.
