Lakeview House

The Walter Cliff Ranch District, at 7635 Old HW 395 in Washoe Valley, Nevada is a historic site that was listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It has significance dating from c.1870, when the house was built. The listing included two contributing buildings: the house and a root cellar/residence building.It was deemed significant as the only surviving agricultural complex in Washoe Valley that had supplied foodstuffs (fruit, vegetables, dairy products, and hay) to the Comstock Mining District. As of 1985, only eight of many 19th century ranches had any surviving remnants from that era. The listed district is 26.2 acres (10.6 ha) in size; the historic parcel was 130 acres (53 ha), purchased by Walter and Elizabeth Cliff in 1874. Four additional structures on the property, including a garage and two sheds, dating from the early 20th century, are deemed non-contributing but are compatible with the historic usage and feel of the property.

The Jack C. Davis Observatory is an astronomical observatory at Western Nevada College in Carson City, Nevada. The facility has three telescopes: two 0.4 m (16 in) reflecting telescopes and one 0.25 m (9.8 in) reflector. One telescope is equipped with a spectrograph. Outside the building, a 0.12 m (4.7 in) refractor has been installed under a robotic dome and is used for studying sunspots. All of the telescopes are equipped with cameras, and are connected to the Internet so large groups can access images from remote locations.A Campbell Scientific research-grade weather station is installed outside the observatory. The solar-powered instrument collects weather data and sends it to the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada for analysis and on-line publication. The Planetary Walkway connects the main campus with the observatory. Lining the walkway are massive sandstone monuments created by artistic inmates from the Nevada State Prison at the prison's old quarry. The stones feature carved images of the planets, along with information about the planet and a dedication to the donors. The Western Nevada Astronomical Society is an observing group affiliated with Western Nevada College and the Jack C. Davis Observatory. The WNAS is dedicated to supporting the astronomical community through education, social functions, and service.

Western Nevada College (WNC) is a public college with its main campus in Carson City, Nevada and additional campuses in Fallon and Minden. There are also WNC centers in Dayton, Fernley, Hawthorne, Lake Tahoe, Lovelock, Smith Valley and Yerington, as well as degree programs in five correctional institutions. The college offers a number of different associate degrees, certificate programs and a bachelor of technology degree. Prior to July 2007, WNC was known as Western Nevada Community College. The name change was approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents in recognition of WNC's ability to grant niche four-year degrees. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

Washoe Lake State Park is a year-round public recreation area occupying 3,775 acres (1,528 ha) on the southeast shore of Washoe Lake in Washoe County, Nevada. The state park lies to the east of Lake Tahoe, approximately five miles (8.0 km) north of Carson City near U.S. Route 395. The area around the park is known for its high winds making Washoe Lake a popular destination for windsurfers.

The Dr. William Henry Cavell House, at 402 W. Robinson St. in Carson City, Nevada, United States, was built in 1907. It is one of two Carson City houses constructed from the same plans, designed by Oakland, California architect John Conant. It includes Shingle Style and Colonial Revival architectural elements. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It was deemed significant for association with dentist Dr. William Henry Cavell, and was originally a wedding gift from him to Ida Platt Cavell. It stayed in the Cavell family until 1951.

The Nevada Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the governor of Nevada and his family. Reno architect George A. Ferris designed this Classical Revival (Neoclassical) style mansion. It is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The David Smaill House, at 313 W. Ann St. in Carson City, Nevada, was built in c.1876. Also known as the Smaill House, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.It was deemed significant "for its associations with the early residential development of Carson City, Nevada", according to its NRHP nomination, which went on to note: "The dwelling is representative of the small, vernacular dwellings associated with Carson City's working class in the late 19th century. The building is architecturally noteworthy for its simplicity of design and elaborate exterior ornamentation.": 3  The original house was built by Smaill at least partway during 1876 and then sold by Smaill in 1877, though David and Rachel Spratte Smaill lived there up to 1879 at least.

Ormsby County was a county in Nevada Territory from 1861 to 1864 and in the State of Nevada from 1864 until 1969. It contained Carson City, the county seat, and later, the state capital, founded two years earlier.

The Carson City Public Buildings, on Carson St. in Carson City, Nevada is a set of historic buildings dating back to 1920. There are three contributing buildings. The set was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The three are the Nevada State Supreme Court Building, the Ormsby County Courthouse (of the former Ormsby County, Nevada which was dissolved in 1969), and the Heroes Memorial Building, designed by Nevada premier architect Frederick J. DeLongchamps.

The Adams House in Carson City, Nevada, located at 990 N. Minnesota St., is a historic Bungalow/Craftsman-style house that was built during 1922-23 by DeWitt Adams, for his family. It is a "modest" building but a good example of a small bungalow with American Craftsman architecture. Its design is believed to have been a catalog plan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.The property was listed for sale, marketed for use as offices, in 2013.

The Brougher Mansion, at 204 W. Spear St. in Carson City, Nevada, is a historic Queen Anne-style house that was built in 1903–1904. Also known as the Bath Mansion, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1904.It was deemed significant for its architecture, as the only example of its style in Carson City, and for its association with Wilson Brougher, "a man of great enterprise" who rose from poverty to riches.

The Foreman–Roberts House, formerly the James D. Roberts House and now also known as the Foreman–Roberts House Museum, is a historic house and museum located at 1217 N. Carson St. in Carson City, Nevada. The house was built in 1859 and was moved to the present location in 1873. Known also as the Thurman Roberts House for the last member of the Roberts family, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the headquarters of the Carson City Historical Society and is open to the public by appointment and for special events. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is significant "as a rare example of the Gothic Revival Style of architecture", being the only surviving example in Carson City and one of few in Nevada. It is also the oldest surviving house in Carson City.: 3 The house was documented by drawings in the Historic American Buildings Survey program in 1973.
