The Council of the Bishops' Conferences of Europe (Latin: Consilium Conferentiarum Episcoporum Europae;,CCEE) is a conference of the presidents of the 33 Roman Catholic episcopal conferences of Europe, the Archbishop of Luxembourg, the Archbishop of Monaco, Maronite Catholic Archeparch of Cyprus, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Chişinău, the Ruthenian Catholic Eparch of Mukacheve, and the Apostolic Administrator of Estonia.The president is Archbishop Gintaras Grušas, Archbishop of Vilnius. The vice-presidents are Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, Archbishop of Luxembourg, and Bishop László Német, Bishop of Zrenjanin. The general secretary of CCEE is Father Martin Michalíček. The offices of the CCEE Secretariat are located in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

The Abbey Library of Saint Gall (German: Stiftsbibliothek) is a significant medieval monastic library located in St. Gallen, Switzerland. In 1983, the library, as well as the Abbey of St. Gall, were designated a World Heritage Site, as “an outstanding example of a large Carolingian monastery and was, since the 8th century until its secularisation in 1805, one of the most important cultural centres in Europe”.

St. Gallen or traditionally St Gall, in German sometimes Sankt Gallen (Sankt Gallen ; French: Saint-Gall; Italian: San Gallo; Romansh: Son Gagl) is a Swiss city and the capital of the canton of St. Gallen. It evolved from the hermitage of Saint Gall, founded in the 7th century. Today, it is a large urban agglomeration (with around 167,000 inhabitants in 2019) and represents the center of eastern Switzerland. Its economy consists mainly of the service sector. The city is home of the University of St. Gallen, one of the best business schools in Europe.The main tourist attraction is the Abbey of Saint Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Abbey's renowned library contains books from the 9th century. The official language of St. Gallen is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect. The city has good transport links to the rest of the country and to neighbouring Germany and Austria. It also functions as the gate to the Appenzellerland.

St. Gallen railway station (German: Bahnhof St. Gallen) serves the town St. Gallen, the capital of the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is located at the junction of the standard gauge St. Gallen–Winterthur, Rorschach–St. Gallen, and Romanshorn–Toggenburg lines of Swiss Federal Railways and the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Appenzell–St. Gallen–Trogen line of Appenzell Railways.Opened in 1856 and completely rebuilt at the outset of the 20th century, the station is owned and operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS), and is the focal point of the St. Gallen S-Bahn. It also serves as a central station to the Appenzell Railways (AB) and many city and urban bus connections in front of the main building.

Säntis was the name of a canton of the Helvetic Republic from 1798 to 1803, consisting of the territory of St. Gallen, Appenzell, and Rheintal. Its capital was St. Gallen.

The Stiftskirche St. Gallus und Otmar (Collegiate Church of St. Gall and Otmar) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Part of the Abbey of St. Gall, it has been the cathedral of the Diocese of St. Gallen since 1847.Completed in 1767, the cathedral was designed by Peter Thumb, who also designed the Abbey's famous library. Among its rich decorations are frescoes painted mostly by Josef Wannenmacher, and the most complete set of historic church bells in Switzerland. The south altar features a bell brought back by Saint Gall himself from Ireland, one of the three oldest surviving bells in Europe.

The Abbey of Saint Gall (German: Abtei St. Gallen) is a dissolved abbey (747–1805) in a Catholic religious complex in the city of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The Carolingian-era monastery existed from 719, founded by Saint Othmar on the spot where Gallus had erected his hermitage. It became an independent principality between 9th and 13th centuries, and was for many centuries one of the chief Benedictine abbeys in Europe. The library of the Abbey is one of the oldest monastic libraries in the world. The city of St. Gallen originated as an adjoining settlement of the abbey. The abbey was secularized around 1800, and in 1848 its former church became a Cathedral. Since 1983 the abbey precinct has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The St. Gallus Chapel is a chapel within the abbey complex of Saint Gall. It was rebuilt in 1666/67 on the ground floor of the residence of the prince-abbot. It was consecrated in 1671 in conjunction with the Bishop's chapel (German: Bischofskapelle) above it.The chapel has an approximately square interior. The walls and ceiling are filled with 26 paintings depicting the life of saint Gall, presumably created by Johann Sebastian Hersche. There are two larger than life size statues next to the entrance, depicting Saint Maurice and Desiderius of Vienne. In the year 971, the Abbot Purchart von Udalrichingen had a chapel built in the same spot. Purchart was buried next to its entrance in 975 by the bishop Conrad of Constance.The St. Gallus Chapel, along with the St. Gallen Cathedral, serves as a baptistery of the St. Gallen Cathedral parish.

The St. Gallen State Archive (German: Staatsarchiv des Kantons St. Gallen) is the archive for the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Since the canton was founded in 1803, it has preserved the records relating to the cantonal authorities, the cantonal administration and the institutions of the state. It also contains records from the legal predecessors of today's canton. Organisationally, the State Archive is part of the Department of the Interior, located in the Office of Culture.

The Sarganserland is a constituency (Wahlkreis) of the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, with a population of 36,892 (as of 2008). The constituency corresponds to the historical county of Sargans (13th to 15th century) and the later Landvogtei Sargans in the Old Swiss Confederacy (15th to 18th century). Part of the Canton of Linth in the Helvetic Republic, the Sarganserland together with Pfäfers was joined to the canton of St. Gallen at its formation in 1803. Geographically, it includes the land between the Rhine at Sargans (the tripoint of St. Gallen, Grisons and Liechtenstein) and upper Lake Walen, including the Seeztal. The territory of Pfäfers lies along the Tamina, in the Rhine basin, and was not historically part of Sargans county but was independently owned by Pfäfers Abbey, and had been joined to the canton of Linth in 1798.

St. Gallen is a constituency (Wahlkreis) in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The Wahlkreis (SFOS number 1721) has been established on June 10, 2001 with an area of 157.54 km2 (60.83 sq mi). The Wahlkreis takes its name from the city of St. Gallen.

Wegelin & Co. is a now-defunct bank that was located in St. Gallen in the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and specialized in private banking and asset management.Founded by Caspar Zyli in 1741, the company was renamed Wegelin & Co. in 1893. The bank's legal name changed multiple times by incorporating the names of the senior personally liable partners. As of 2013, the bank's name was Wegelin & Co. Privatbankiers, Gesellschafter Bruderer, Hummler, Tolle & Co. At the time of its closing, it was the oldest bank in Switzerland and the 13th oldest in the world.
