Farnham Common

Egypt is a hamlet in the South Bucks district of Buckinghamshire, England. It is located within Farnham Royal civil parish, just to the north of Farnham Common, and on the edge of Burnham Beeches. It is thought that the hamlet was so named because it was a common settling point for Romani travellers, and the term "gypsy" for such people derives from the Greek Αιγύπτιοι (Aigyptioi), meaning Egyptian.

Farnham Royal is a village and civil parish within Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the south of the county, immediately north of Slough (with which it is contiguous), and around 22 miles west of Charing Cross, Central London. Within the parish boundary is the village of Farnham Common and the hamlet of Farnham Park.

Burnham Beeches is a 374.6-hectare (926-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest situated west of Farnham Common in the village of Burnham, Buckinghamshire. The southern half is owned by the Corporation of London and is open to the public. It is also a National Nature Reserve and a Special Area of Conservation.Burnham Beeches came into ownership of the City of London Corporation after the land came up for auction in 1879. The auction followed the death of the land owner who had permitted public access. Its special status was recognised and discussed in the House of Commons. The land failed to sell at the auction. Subsequently Sir Henry Peek purchased the land at the reserve price £12,000. Sir Henry Peek sold 374 acres (151 hectares) to the City of London Corporation (£6,000), retaining the "enclosed" portion of the land of 175 acres (71 hectares). Purchase was funded from duties levied on grain landed at the Port of London. Money was also spent on roads to improve access (estimated cost £500), one of these is named after Sir Henry. At this time local authorities were encouraged to provide open spaces with public access to provide some relief from polluted towns and cities. Stoke Park is a private sporting and leisure estate in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. The mansion building (designed by James Wyatt in 1788) is located in the middle of 300 acres (1.2 km2) of parkland, lakes, gardens and monuments. In 1908, it became the first country club in the UK. In 2013, it was awarded five red AA stars, the highest accolade for service and facilities for hotels, by The Automobile Association.Stoke Park has served as the filming location for several major films, including James Bond's Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies, Bridget Jones's Diary and Layer Cake. It also hosts the annual Boodles Tennis Championships as a warm-up to Wimbledon, a week prior to the Championships. In June 2014, Stoke Park hosted an outdoor charity concert for SportsAid (patron: the Princess of Wales). Sir Elton John sang to 5,000 people and raised £825,000. On August 2, 2021, the venue closed for refurbishment followed by the golf course on October 18, 2021. It is expected to reopen in summer 2023.

Beechwood School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Britwell area of Slough, Berkshire, England. The school was established in 1982 when the former Haymill and Warren Field Secondary schools merged on the Warren Field site.Ofsted in 2008 judged the school to be Good. In 2016 it was judged as Requires Improvement. Following that inspection the school converted to an academy.

Hedgerley is a village and civil parish in South Bucks district in Buckinghamshire, England. The parish is centred 3 miles (4.8 km) south-east of Beaconsfield and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-west of Gerrards Cross. The parish has incorporated the formerly separate parish of Hedgerley Dean since 1934 (which was once a hamlet in parish of Farnham Royal).The toponym name "Hedgerley" is derived from the Old English meaning "Hycga's woodland clearing". In manorial rolls in 1195 it was recorded as Huggeleg.

Britwell is a residential housing estate and civil parish in the north west of Slough, Berkshire, South East England. It is about 23 miles (37 km) west of Charing Cross, the centremost point of London. The name Britwell derives from the old English beorhtan wiellan meaning 'bright, clear well'.

St Giles' Church is an active parish church in the village of Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, England. A Grade I listed building, it stands in the grounds of Stoke Park, a late-Georgian mansion built by John Penn. It is famous as the apparent inspiration for Thomas Gray's poem Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard; Gray is buried in the churchyard.

The Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens are memorial gardens in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, England. The gardens are listed Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The gardens are adjacent to the Church of St Giles, Stoke Poges. The Memorial Gardens were founded in 1935 by Sir Noel Mobbs to ensure "the maintenance in perpetuity of the peace, quietness and beauty of the ancient church and churchyard". The gardens were landscaped by Edward White and contain a number of private plots for the interment of ashes, within a larger, Grade I listed park. The ashes of the film director Alexander Korda, aviation pioneer John Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara and the broadcaster Kenneth Horne, among others, are interred in the garden.

Burnham Beeches Golf Club is a golf club, located in Burnham, Buckinghamshire, England. Established in 1891, it is the oldest golf club in Buckinghamshire.Burnham Beeches' 18-hole golf course was built on land owned by the City of London Corporation. In 1909 the land was bought by Lord Burnham and leased to the club. It continued to be leased from the Burnham Trust until 2014, when the club purchased the land outright. Early in the twentieth century, J.H. Taylor was consulted on changes to the course.In 1984, Burnham Beeches hosted the White Horse Whisky Challenge, a tournament on the WPGA circuit, which later became known as the Ladies European Tour. The winner of the tournament was Federica Dassù of Italy.
