Vilvoorde Renault Factory

The Vilvoorde viaduct is part of the R0 Brussels beltway. Built as the last piece to close the Brussels beltway in 1977, it allowed the beltway to be opened for traffic on December 29 the same year. It crosses several roads, the river Zenne, the Brussels–Scheldt Maritime Canal, a railroad and the (then) Renault factory. Today's daily traffic is about 140.000 vehicles, while the saturation point is about 180.000.

Machelen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɑxələ(n)]) is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in the Flemish region of Belgium. The municipality comprises the towns of Diegem and Machelen proper. On 1 January 2006, Machelen had a total population of 12,500. The total area is 11.59 km2 (4.47 sq mi), which gives a population density of 1,078/km2 (2,790/sq mi). The official language of Machelen is Dutch. A portion of Brussels Airport is located in Diegem, Machelen, together with neighbouring town of Zaventem.

Haren Prison (French: Prison de Haren, Dutch: Gevangenis van Haren) is a new prison in Haren in the north-eastern part of Brussels, Belgium. It is 9.8 kilometres (6.1 mi) from Brussels-South railway station, and is near Brussels Airport, Vilvoorde Viaduct and the planned Uplace shopping centre in Machelen in Flemish Brabant, just outside Brussels. It is said to be the largest prison complex ever built in Belgium, and is intended to replace the old Saint-Gilles Prison, Forest Prison and Berkendael Prison. Three cell wings in Saint-Gilles will remain in use until the end of 2024. The women's prison in Berkendael is being converted into a detention centre for about 60 short-term prisoners (imprisonment less than three years).

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ten Troost Kerk (Church of Our Lady of Consolation), simply known as the Troostkerk, is a basilica in Vilvoorde, Belgium. The history of the church and its Carmelite monastery (the oldest in Western Europe) go back 800 years. It was consecrated as a basilica on May 7, 2006 by Cardinal Godfried Danneels.

Vilvoorde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvɪlvoːrdə] , French: Vilvorde [vilvɔʁd]; historically known as Filford in English) is a Belgian municipality in the Halle-Vilvoorde district (arrondissement) of the province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the city of Vilvoorde proper with its two outlying quarters of Koningslo and Houtem and the small town of Peutie. The official language of Vilvoorde is Dutch. There is a French-speaking minority of about 33.7%, concentrated especially in the Koningslo and Beauval quarter bordering Brussels. The French-speaking minority is represented by 3 members on the 33-seat local council. From 2000 until August 1, 2007, the mayor of Vilvoorde was former Belgian prime minister Jean-Luc Dehaene. The mayor since 2013 is Hans Bonte, also a member of the federal House of Representatives. The nickname for inhabitants of Vilvoorde is Pjeirefretters (horse eaters) because horse meat (especially steak) is a beloved food in Vilvoorde.

Haren (Dutch and French, sometimes written Haeren in French) is an old municipality of Brussels in Belgium, that was merged into the municipality of the City of Brussels in 1921. It is an outlying part of the municipality of the city and is situated at the north-eastern edge of the Brussels Capital Region. In contrast to most of Brussels, Haren has maintained nearly as many Dutch-speakers as French-speakers and has preserved a somewhat rural appearance.

Diegem is a town in the municipality of Machelen, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. Its gothic church, inaugurated in 1543, in the centre of town, has a conspicuous tiered spire. The town is served by Diegem railway station, which is situated on the Brussels – Leuven railway line between Haren Zuid and Zaventem stations. A portion of Brussels Airport is located in Diegem. Diegem's situation just outside the Brussels-Capital Region and close to the R0 (the Brussels orbital motorway) mean it has a large number of business premises.Its postal code is 1831.

Haren-South (French: Gare de Haren-Sud, Dutch: Station Haren-Zuid) is a railway station on line 36 of the Belgian railway network, situated in Haren, part of the City of Brussels in the Brussels Capital Region. Also in Haren, despite its name 200 metres to the southeast along Oude Middelweg, is Haren railway station, on line 26.

The Military Ordinariate of Belgium (Dutch: Bisdom bij de Krijgsmacht; French: Diocèse aux Forces armées belges) is a Latin Church military ordinariate of the Catholic Church. Haren Airport or Evere Airfield is a former military airfield and civil airport in Brussels, Belgium. Located in Brussels' city section of Haren and adjacent municipality of Evere, it was established by the German Empire in 1914 and lasted until the early 1950s when it was closed. Meanwhile it had been replaced by nearby Melsbroek airfield that Nazi Germans had established in World War II, which developed into the current Brussels Airport. The former grounds of Haren-Evere airfield were redeveloped as part of the expanding Brussels urban area; some buildings remain in use as facilities of the Belgian military. The headquarters of NATO are located at Haren (Brussels) on part of the former airport grounds.

The NATO Star is a sculpture situated in the court of honor of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Unveiled in 1971, the sculpture symbolises the bond between Europe and North America, and is inspired by the organization's flag, which was introduced in 1953.
