Corbet Wood and Grinshill

Grinshill is a small village, and civil parish in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom. The parish is one of the smallest in the district. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 274. Grinshill Hill rises above the village to 192 metres (630 ft) above sea level. Grinshill is near (east) to the village of Clive. The A49 runs just further to the east of the village. Stone has been quarried at Grinshill since at least the twelfth century. Grinshill stone is a Triassic sandstone that was described by the Pevsner Architectural Guides as the "pre-eminent" building stone of Shropshire, and has been used in buildings as varied as Haughmond Abbey, Shrewsbury railway station and Welsh Bridge. Most notably, Grinshill stone has been used to make the lintels and door surround of Number 10 Downing Street and in the building of Chequers.The village church is All Saints. Nearby is a mansion, Stone Grange, built in 1617 as a retreat for Shrewsbury School in times of plague in the town.

Clive is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom. Clive is situated around the west side of Grinshill Hill. Grinshill sandstone, from the nearby quarry at Grinshill is used throughout the village for building material from walls and houses to the village church. The English Restoration dramatist William Wycherley was born at Clive.

Acton Reynald Hall is a 19th-century country house at Acton Reynald, Moreton Corbet, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.The Corbet family abandoned nearby Moreton Corbet Castle as a residence in about 1800 after their 17th-century hall had been enlarged and improved for their occupation. Sir Andrew Corbet retained architect John Hiram Haycock (1759–1830), who created the new mansion in a Neo-Jacobean style. The seven-bayed, three-storey eastern entrance front retains three bays and a Tuscan portico dating from 1610 and 1625. The main block, dating from about 1800, was later extended by service wings in about 1840 and other improvements in 1893.The whole of the village of Acton Reynald together with several farms was demolished in the 1840s to facilitate the creation of the park. From about 1919 until 1995 the house was occupied by a girls' school. It is now once again a private residence.

Yorton is a small village in Shropshire, England, north of the county town of Shrewsbury and south of the town of Wem.

Yorton railway station serves the villages of Yorton and Clive in Shropshire, England. It is 7¼ miles (11.5 km) north of Shrewsbury on the Welsh Marches Line towards Crewe. It has two platforms and dates from 1858. Trains only stop here upon request. The station was designated for the axe in Dr Beeching's "The Reshaping of British Railways" in the 1960s; however it was ultimately saved.

Acton Reynald is a village in the north of Shropshire, England. The village is more of a hamlet in that it does not contain a public house, Post Office, or any other features typically associated with villages. It is close to the A49 which runs from Ross-on-Wye on the Welsh border to Bamber Bridge in Lancashire. The village backs on to RAF Shawbury and the village of Moreton Corbet to its east. The village's largest building is Acton Reynald Hall, a former seat of the local landowning Corbet family, which was a private girls' school from 1919 to 1995 before reverting to being a private residence. In the 1840s the whole existing village of Acton Reynold together with several farms was demolished to facilitate the creation of the parkland.

Hadnall is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies on the A49, some 9 km north-north-east of Shrewsbury. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 688. The Welsh Marches Line runs just outside the village and there was once a railway station. Today, Hadnall has a primary school, a successful village shop, a pub and two AA Rosette restaurants. The village church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. General Sir Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, who lived at nearby Hardwick Grange, is buried here, as was writer Charles Hulbert who lived at Providence Grove. John Bromley, future trade union leader and Labour MP, whose parents lived at Haston Grove in the parish, was born and baptised here in 1876.Hadnall was formerly part of the old parish of Myddle.A real ale brewery, The Salopian Brewery, is based at Old Station Yard on Station Road, Hadnall. It moved to this location in 2014 having previously operated from Shrewsbury.The village is served by the 511 bus route, operated by Arriva Midlands North, which runs between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch via Wem. Some services terminate in Wem and do not continue to Whitchurch.

Tilley is a small village to the south of and almost merged with Wem in North Shropshire. Population information at the 2011 census is shown under Wem Rural. A hamlet, Tilley Green, lies to its southeast at grid reference SJ511273. The village or hamlet comprises around 20 dwellings and of these up to 10 are designated listed buildings including Tilley Manor, Tilley Farm and Brook Cottage; all three are timber-framed and have their origins in the Medieval and early Post Medieval periods; Tilley Farm and Manor are of the classic cross-wing vernacular and clearly very early in date, probably 13th/14th century. Despite the wealth of medieval and post-medieval timber-framed buildings, Tilley does not possess a church. However, it is probable that such a building may have existed somewhere within the centre of the village, probably close to the manor house.The hamlet appears to be divided into two clusters; the main settlement centred on the medieval buildings and to the east, a peripheral area lying close to the railway which comprise buildings that date from the 18th and 19th centuries. Between 2014 and 2018 the people of the village obtained a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to undertake a dendrochronology project which investigated up to 35 historic timber-framed buildings including 11 Listed Buildings. The results of this survey were published in a book - The Tilley Timber Project (2018).
