Acton Reynald

Acton Reynald Hall is a 19th-century country house at Acton Reynald, Moreton Corbet, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.The Corbet family abandoned nearby Moreton Corbet Castle as a residence in about 1800 after their 17th-century hall had been enlarged and improved for their occupation. Sir Andrew Corbet retained architect John Hiram Haycock (1759–1830), who created the new mansion in a Neo-Jacobean style. The seven-bayed, three-storey eastern entrance front retains three bays and a Tuscan portico dating from 1610 and 1625. The main block, dating from about 1800, was later extended by service wings in about 1840 and other improvements in 1893.The whole of the village of Acton Reynald together with several farms was demolished in the 1840s to facilitate the creation of the park. From about 1919 until 1995 the house was occupied by a girls' school. It is now once again a private residence.

Royal Air Force Shawbury, otherwise known as RAF Shawbury, is a Royal Air Force station near the village of Shawbury in Shropshire in the West Midlands of England.

Grinshill is a small village, and civil parish in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom. The parish is one of the smallest in the district. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 274. Grinshill Hill rises above the village to 192 metres (630 ft) above sea level. Grinshill is near (east) to the village of Clive. The A49 runs just further to the east of the village. Stone has been quarried at Grinshill since at least the twelfth century. Grinshill stone is a Triassic sandstone that was described by the Pevsner Architectural Guides as the "pre-eminent" building stone of Shropshire, and has been used in buildings as varied as Haughmond Abbey, Shrewsbury railway station and Welsh Bridge. Most notably, Grinshill stone has been used to make the lintels and door surround of Number 10 Downing Street and in the building of Chequers.The village church is All Saints. Nearby is a mansion, Stone Grange, built in 1617 as a retreat for Shrewsbury School in times of plague in the town.

Corbet Wood Countryside Heritage Site and Grinshill Site is a mixture of a woodland and quarrying site in Shropshire. It has been designated a SSSI due to the importance of geology in this area.

The Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) was a military flying school based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, England. The school, established in 1997, was a tri-service organisation and trained helicopter aircrews for all three British armed forces. It initially used the Eurocopter Squirrel HT1 and Bell Griffin HT1 helicopters, which were retained despite the introduction of the Airbus Juno HT1 and Airbus Jupiter HT1. The school was re-badged as No. 1 Flying Training School during February 2020 and continues to provide helicopter training for the British armed forces.

Royal Air Force Bridleway Gate, or more simply RAF Bridleway Gate, is a former Royal Air Force satellite airfield located in Shropshire. Hadnall is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies on the A49, some 9 km north-north-east of Shrewsbury. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 688. The Welsh Marches Line runs just outside the village and there was once a railway station. Today, Hadnall has a primary school, a successful village shop, a pub and two AA Rosette restaurants. The village church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. General Sir Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, who lived at nearby Hardwick Grange, is buried here, as was writer Charles Hulbert who lived at Providence Grove. John Bromley, future trade union leader and Labour MP, whose parents lived at Haston Grove in the parish, was born and baptised here in 1876.Hadnall was formerly part of the old parish of Myddle.A real ale brewery, The Salopian Brewery, is based at Old Station Yard on Station Road, Hadnall. It moved to this location in 2014 having previously operated from Shrewsbury.The village is served by the 511 bus route, operated by Arriva Midlands North, which runs between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch via Wem. Some services terminate in Wem and do not continue to Whitchurch.

Clive is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom. Clive is situated around the west side of Grinshill Hill. Grinshill sandstone, from the nearby quarry at Grinshill is used throughout the village for building material from walls and houses to the village church. The English Restoration dramatist William Wycherley was born at Clive.

Astley is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. The official 2001 census recorded 454 people living in the parish and 116 in the village itself, falling slightly to 449 at the 2011 Census.The village lies near to (and between) the A53 and A49 roads. Upper Astley is a hamlet on the A53 about half a mile to the south of the village of Astley. There is a public house there - the Dog in the Lane. (now closed permanently)

Moreton Corbet Castle is a ruined medieval castle and Elizabethan era manor house, located near the village of Moreton Corbet, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade I listed building and English Heritage property. Although out of use since the 18th century, it remains the property of the Corbet family. It can be visited free of charge during daylight hours.

Hadnall railway station was a station in Hadnall, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1858 and closed in 1960.

Moreton Corbet and Lee Brockhurst is a civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is the result of a merger of two older parishes - Moreton Corbet and Lee Brockhurst in 1988.
